I'm struggling to think if I've ever learned about such a genuinely fascinating human being as quickly as I'm learning about this man before. And I'm not so much drawing a blank as putting him alongside some of the most influential people in my life. Thank you so much for this.
My first encounter with Mr Amaechi was on an online link to a work event where he was the keynote speaker, and I was blown away. I've been blown away ever since. He's so very inspirational, so smart, so kind and authentic, a great writer, a great speaker, and the love he has for his late mother is just wonderful. I never get tired of listening to his voice.
A pioneer introvert! The best Unfiltered so far. It should have been at least 2 hours long because I think we just scratched the surface of this mans remarkable story. Thanks.
Lifelong NBA fan and longtime James O'Brien follower. Can't believe it took me so long to see this and see two of my interests cross-over. Wonderful stuff.
I was lucky enough to meet this legend up in Manchester a few years back - he is genuniely this nice in-person, and he has the biggest hands I've ever seen in my entire life.
Remember seeing a profile on John in 1995 on Channel 4's basketball programme as the first British basketball player to make it in the NBA playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. What a great guy, fascinating listening👌👍🏻
His time with the Jazz wasnt touched on at all, but I really liked Meech's description of what a pro athlete goes through at retirement, no wonder Tom Brady wants to keep playing at whatever means possible lol
Great interview. A cerebral woke NBA player ....oops ex player and now psychologist. I was aware of John A as a fan of the NBA, but this interview provided much insight beyond what I already knew. Thought it was going to concentrate on him coming out as gay but didn't which I'm glad it didn't - there's so much more to his story!

I knew nothing about this guest and loved every minute of this conversation. What a brilliant series.

Well. I don't give a damn about sports and had never heard of John before, but what an nice, interesting and insightful man he is.
Nice one, Mr O'B

I have enjoyed many of these interviews. This is my fave so far (though others are close behind!)
What a brilliant man, was a hero of mine growing up and this interview is great
Fascinating man, I confess to only knowing his name until this interview. Thank you.
Wow!! What a inspirational, intelligent guy.
Thanks Nick! Glad you enjoyed
Hi John, I used to live a couple of doors down from you in your Manchester (technically Salford) flat. Great interview, a real inspiration.

James O'Brien has a behavioural problem. Watching him nodding even before somebody says two words is uncomfortable.
