Wow! Scott Adkins is the Joe Rogan of martial arts podcasts!. He really brought out a side of Steven that I've never seen anywhere before... Very kind, humble & respectful. He seemed as relatable as my own Sensei. Great job!!!
Indeed, I remember before Scott's Undisputed 1 came out I heard Steven Seagal in one interview said Scott Adkin is perhaps one of the great martial artist of today. That made me watched Boyka. Unfortunately he was playing bad guy though. Ever since, I have never stopped watching Scot Adkin's movies. There are all amazing.
A lot of interviewers like to take the piss with Steven but I think he sensed Scott’s sincerity and that’s why we got a good interview. He’s not perfect but I really believe stevens a good dude despite all the shit he gets online
@@bigboss-yv2nr would have to agree most of the people taking this piss out if the man probably haven't had a fight in they're life. The man definitely has talent no matter what people say his technique in Akido is litterally flawless.Out for Justice marked for death, under seige 1 and 2 and also the glimmer man are some of his best movies in my opinion even Van Damme gives the man credit because he knows he had talent too.
I think a good thing is that Scott is also a fan of his peers. I watched his interview with Cynthia Rothrock and her interview with Scott. They were both good interviews, but Scott has seen all her movies as well as everyone making an impact on the industry while she is not as familiar with other people's work. And Scott really knows what is function is -to let his guests shine.
@@luisgomez8635 Because he bad-mouths everyone publicly. All the other martial arts stars, all the time. I about died laughing when he said the martial arts are all about humility and respect. He needs to listen to his own advice.
Maybe he got his ass handed back to him. I’m joking here of course. But listen to this - At one point I remember reading a magazine MMA or something, where Steven Seagal was talking shit about other styles and how ineffective they are and how good he is etc. So Chuck Norris and other senseis openly challenged him to a legit fight. They said any one of them if he fights them at any point in time, he’ll have their respect. He went quiet for the longest time and of course never agreed to the challenge. Good thing too because they’d whip his ass! Aikido is lovely to watch! But myself being an experienced martial artist I can tell you that it just isn’t. I wish it wasn’t the case. To add: I do think it would be effective IF you included other styles like Kempo , Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu of course. THEN we can talk.
motivation pirate It’s a tough one to talk about because I’ve worked with senseis who actually is a very strong man, who knows how to wallop! Yes I agree that aikido is one of the least effective styles in existence, but it does have that very few proper effective techniques. And if you can master those few techniques and not burden yourself with so many which there are in aikido, then I think it would be a really effective style to have.
@@Domzdream well I think Aikido should adjust its students training, cause when they say 'you dont need muscles to perform these techniques' untrained people will be misdirected to think they don't need to build their physical strength and stamina plus practise fighting in sparring. With this if they try to apply their stuff in a real fight they will be unprepared physically and technically. So I guess they could work around this problem if they adapt.
Segal I think starts out trying to play it straight, but most interviewers bait his ego a little bit with questions about "could you beat Van Damme", etc

Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Under Siege, all are such great movies. I know they can be cheesy in parts but they are such important parts of my childhood.
I am so blown away for how good Scott Adkins is on his interviews. Every single question he asks I want to know the answers for. And getting this amazing actors and martial artists on his shows?? perfection.
In as much as I usually hate Mr. Seagal's douchebaggery, I have to admit that he acted respectable in this interview. I was worried at the beginning how this would turn out. I was hoping he would not resort to his narcissistic antics and make stupid claims about his awesomeness like he did in the past. I was happy to see there was very little to none of that. He really carried himself with poise on this one. Or maybe I should credit Mr. Atkins also for handling this interview well? Because Lord knows what answer we would get if he asked something like "Who do you think is the toughest guy right now in Martial arts movies". He might have flipped an ego switch right there. I am glad that they stayed on point, talking about the discipline, film making, and there was no disrespect or badmouthing whatsoever about a particular fighting system or a person. So yeah! I have to concede, this was a fun interview. I hope Mr. Seagal would carry himself like this consistenly
You need not worry. He is respectful. Him bad mouthing other martial artists is all synthetic drama. He’s one of the first Americans to train in Japan...and you can bet that he’s been taught humbleness and respect there. Japanese culture resonates with respect and humbleness. He legit admitted that Scott Adkins’ background in martial arts is more diverse than his. I see no ego.
Well he did act like he was the one fighting in the fight scene from his recent movie despite clearly using a stunt double for every scene that didn't show his face.
I was one of many Steven Seagal's stunt (fight) doubles. I worked with him a few times. He is a man of few words when at work. He really does know his stuff that's for Sure. I heard many stories about him but he was very nice to me. Thank you Scott for your interviews with martial art movie action stars. Please do more of them. I also worked with Jackie Chan,.. he would be a really to interview. Thank you for your time
@@David29497 People use Steven Seagal stories to poke fun at him like bullies do in school to get a laugh from their friends. It just shows their poor character, no one is perfect. Back in Jackie Chan early days stunt men used to break arms and bones during scenes often. It was often full contact. No one is perfect, but people like to stay relevant with their version of Seagal story as it's become cool to mock him. This guy have you a positive account of Seagal, but fact that you're asking about something negative just shows how much negative stories are popularized and the positive ones silenced. Machida UFC also said Seagal has always treated him well, even though they tried to trigger him into saying something negative during interviews. I think he's used to using his own guys that's trained in aikido to not break their wrists, etc and knows how to fall mostly. Obviously not ok to really punch someone. but heard stories of many with inflated egos (actors) who'd do that in a fight scene.
as a stunt fight of bruce lee,jet li,bobby lee, Sylvester saloon and steven seagull, i don't really agree here..steve(i call him steve because i used to be his mentor) was always bashing jean Claude bengal ,and the staff, plus i had to come really close to him to hear him talk.
As a fan of martial arts and action films for over 30 years, I don't know that there's a better flick than "Out for Justice" (1991). Not only the fights but its pace and great use of location. Seagal carries himself like he owns Brooklyn. Decent car chase and a couple of sweet shootouts, too. Oh, and a villain we can't wait to see get his comeuppance - and when it arrives it's dished out to brutal perfection!
those 1st movies were Outstanding, boththe action and the character acting...nothing of that era was comparable and even today, they still hold up as great.
@@mantislake4141 Yeah, I like it, its so realistic when your enemy runs straight into you several times and dont try to punch you. Because thats how real street fights looks like.

Steven Seagal was my major source of inspiration for joining the martial arts as I was a bully victim at school. To this day he still inspires me., and hearing his full martial arts linage and doing the very same thing through different is nothing short of amazing. I really enjoyed this interview and I agree best interview with Steven to date.
SAM, do you remember, and have access to a Jeff Speakman's martial arts magazine interview ? Jeff mentions that he believes that there's a greater realism to Steven Seagal's background, and presence in martial arts. Not certain what Speakman specifically meant by stating that. I don't recall which MA magazine it was.
After watching a few of these episodes I think Scott Adkins can easily be a top reporter and a journalist. He knows how to ask, what to ask and what to reply to get the subject to feel comfortable and talk. If there is any half decent headhunter at BBC or CNN they got a gem right here.
In the world of martial arts and action and stuntwork, for sure, he most definitely knows what's up. Is that enough to be a top reporter and journalist? Not too sure about that.
@@Dave1507 True. Not even sure whether Scott is aiming there. well, maybe in 20 years if he gets tired. but he could make expert visits on those Wired breaking down scenes from movies shows :)
Well it's great to see this side of Seagal. Scott is a great interviewer and knowledgeable about the techniques and even the actual scenes of the movies they discuss. He brought out the best out of Seagal. Bravo.
Your complaining about people showing him for being him. He's been notorious for being an egomaniacal asshole to everyone. This just happens to be a moment where he wasn't. Maybe he decided to change.
It would be such a huge honor if Scott has Jackie Chan on the show. Hell it could be a two parter with the amount of stories and knowledge he can bestow.
At least a 5 parter. Jackie and Sammo are probably the "gold standard" and frontiers on modern martial arts movies. The only thing to top that would be to bring back Bruce Lee, which isn't going to happen.
Another fantastic interview. I've never seen Seagal speak so calm and candidly. Maybe for the first time, someone wasn't looking for a "gotcha" from Steven.

Seagal and Van Damme both did very well holding their own on screen without any real acting experience or experience, I’ve seen trained actors who don’t do as well
They're're both really good natural actors. I have met actors myself and 90% of the people out there need acting training from classes. Van Damme and Seagal are way better than most people. I think it's just because they're so disciplined with martial arts, that it just transferred over to them being disciplined with our emotions when it comes to acting. They're extremely good natural actors. They definitely do not get credit for that. Remember Siskel or Ebert or both of them mentioning that Van Damme is a great actor. It's too bad nobody beyond a few people in Hollywood have noticed this.

This is a great down to earth interview. I love hearing Seagal talk about his craft. How can you not love Steven Seagal? We loved those late 80s/ early 90's movies. People need to stop talking negative about him. He's a serious dude and a master at what he does.

@@kensheldon7430 I take it you're laughing at the last part, but Seagal's old school action movies are definitely classic in the vein of classic Van Damme movies. Those two weren't as mainstream as Stallone or Arnold, but they fit into that mold in terms of delivering entertaining 80's and 90's style action movies. I like pretty much all of Seagal's movies up to about Half Past Dead, though there's no doubt that his earlier movies were generally his best (I will say however that Fire Down Below and The Glimmer Man are good, underrated flicks).
That was tamer than I expected. I used to run dozens of genre events, including martial arts expositions and we had a huge number of masters coming in to do demonstrations and we sought out Mr. Seagal. He made that process a nightmare and charged us an arm and a leg and wanted top billing above all of the other masters we had at the event. We only had him out once and then went with JCVD, who only came out once and was awesome to have as an MC. Ultimately, going forward with David Carradine who was a disaster in our St. Louis event. No matter what you can say about Steven Seagal you can’t deny his movies in the 80s and Mid90s were some of the best action movies of all time. You also can’t deny he’s really good at aikido. I did a aikido for eight years got a black belt and we used to watch Steven Seagal videos trying to get his techniques down and they are very difficult. He’s very fast no doubt a skilled martial artist even if you don’t like Akidio many of those wrist locks do work, we used them in the police academy all the time. One reason I stopped doing Akidio is because I broke my wrist twice and my body just couldn’t take it anymore.

I keep rewatching this episode because it’s so great to see different generations of martial artists and action stars discuss great movies. Steven Seagal made some really great movies that had some very deep themes and topics and I also respect how he got involved with not just the martial arts with Aikido but also Buddhism and has supported Buddhist orphanages across Asia. Scott Adkins is a great martial artist and actor, I think it’s a disservice that he hasn’t been given his own franchise of films or leads in major films because I would see him being a huge success more so than he already is which is great.
I really love the way Scott is talking to the guests. He often has the same smile on his face like me and my friends when watching a cool scene - just pure enjoyment of being an action fan.
As a child (*1967) I regularly dreamed of music, and I woke up almost every morning with music inside me - in orchestral quality. Music was played there that I never heard anywhere else. Pieces that I didn't know at all, neither from the radio nor from television. I had been conditioned with Bavarian folk music. I never dreamed of a single piece of this kind of music. It didn't touch my heart in the slightest. On the contrary, there was a music program on the radio, and it was always on in the morning, at the time when I had to get ready for kindergarten or later for school. And this kind of music always triggered a very specific feeling of unease in me that I have never been able to get rid of since then. And then there was the very simple church music, which has a similar effect on me. It creates a huge knot between the belly button and the floor of the mouth, and there is always a certain feeling of nausea associated with it. As I said, if it weren't for this inner music, it would have made me endure every day anew. And as a child, this music accompanied me on the way to school, or wherever I was, and yet: sometimes I wished that peace would just return. Simply because it unsettled me to hear it all the time and yet not be able to perceive its source. In 2015, my grandma passed away and she left me a wonderful gift: she showed me her light body as it left the physical body, immediately after the funeral service, she telepathically guided me so that I should see it - while everyone else left the room, she telepathically asked me to stay and sit down. It was only in the course of the following year that I realized that the music in me had disappeared. In January 2023, I lost my mum, and from then on I could no longer stand music. I didn't turn on a single music program, neither on the radio nor on TV. I was too traumatized - by the circumstances and what led to it, the Corona policy. Then from August of this year 2024 I started listening to your music and I was immediately hooked because of your voice. And I started translating your lyrics, which reinforced the impression of your voice on me. And a few days ago I woke up with your music and a smile on my face, like when I was a child. And for that I thank you, your voice, your music, ... and for that I love you so much. We are all SPIRIT, consciousness - and soul brothers and sisters.

Mr. Adkins brought out the best in Seagal. Very good interview. To be honest I'm shocked, Seagal came off humble.
One of Seagal’s best interviews. And one of Adkins too.
For once seagal is talking like he could easily be one of our friends chilling out and playing video games.
Maybe he got his ass handed back to him. I’m joking here of course. But listen to this -
At one point I remember reading a magazine MMA or something, where Steven Seagal was talking shit about other styles and how ineffective they are and how good he is etc.
To add:
I do think it would be effective IF you included other styles like Kempo , Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu of course. THEN we can talk.
motivation pirate
It’s a tough one to talk about because I’ve worked with senseis who actually is a very strong man, who knows how to wallop!

Can I laugh in your face?
Well actually right off the bat he had a problem with being referred to as white lol. So he immedietly felt a need to correct that
Well he did act like he was the one fighting in the fight scene from his recent movie despite clearly using a stunt double for every scene that didn't show his face.
I thought exactly the same
I was one of many Steven Seagal's stunt (fight) doubles. I worked with him a few times. He is a man of few words when at work. He really does know his stuff that's for Sure. I heard many stories about him but he was very nice to me. Thank you Scott for your interviews with martial art movie action stars. Please do more of them. Do you think that story about Steven intentionally injuring stunt men true? Did he try to do a number on you?

@@robd1329 I disagree, my friend. Steven Segal was awesome in this movie!
Forsythe is best on Duece Bigelow...
Its not small, its thin. Like a kick stand.
Thank you Scott for bringing the sensei Seagal on your show. You are one of the best martial artists yourself and showing such respect to Steven makes you even more respectful in the martial arts community. Best wishes to you.

Paulo Tocha & Jeff Wincott
Also Jeff Speakman! ☝
And the guy that fought Donnie Yen in Flashpoint.
@@archi8585 he's already done Jeff Speakman.
Spamming is annoying. This is Scott’s channel, not yours. Make your own interviews with them, if you have a problem.
Qu'il est agréable de voir et d'entendre laisser parler son interlocuteur sans le couper dans sa parole. Merci pour vos vidéos Mr Adkins.
To be honest after reading some of the comments then watching the interview it wasn't as bad as some are making out to be. I was a long time fan of Steven Seagal back in his earlier films and he has had some crazy interviews in his time but this interview was pretty good. Thanks Scott Adkins for maintaining professionalism and keeping the interview on point.
Billy Blanks, Don The Dragon Wilson
Yes for sure.
I'm pretty sure he'll do both.
Jason Statham???
@@marcusvalera5406 Yes Jason needs to be on that list.
@Zeke Glenn i would love to see Snipes VS. White but Scott has already interviewed Michael Jai White.
Scott Adkins is very hard worker ... huge fan here from Brazil
Wonderful interview, Seagal movies were part of my youth, his direct approach to finish his opponent as quickly as possible in very few moves was impressive and also a beautiful display of his skills.
Thank you Mr. Adkins.
Without doubt the best interview with Steven Seagal ever. A wonderful interview Scott. A great channel. Looking forward to more.
I wonder when Van Damme will show up around here for a quick chat !! that´s gonna be real something !
Can't wait dude. This is a real achievement for Adkins
What? I mean getting Seagal spoken openly about his movies etc with another martial artist star. His ego is bigger size than himself. Will see how it goes.
I like how everybody hates him based on stupid Joe Rogan video ,but they forgot to watch the follow up where Joe admits he was wrong on making fun of him that he is a real master in what he does and its `Legit` martial artist
@ Not just that. Seagal also lied about something regarding Bruce Lee, not sure what specifically.
@@jerryhuang1999 yup. He lied about meeting bruce lee I think. He's told so many lies I've lost track.
@ Thanks for the clarification. In terms of reputation, Seagal also had multiple allegations as well as having conflicts with some stuntmen.
This is the Steven Seagal we all want to see. Humble. Great interview
To me this is an epic interview. I'm still a proud owner of most of Seagal's movies, on VHS!
Stay blessed Mr Adkins and fans 🖖
Scott you are awesome! Thanks for bringing back to life all those boyhood fantasies from the 80s and 90s a lot of people say bad things about Steven seagal but I think he's a legitimate badass.
Good interview. Steven was verry ok, not cocky like he'd sometimes be in the past interviews. I think he was also respectful towards other martial arts actors like Donnie Yen.
I agree Guyver.
My father met Steven Seagal during some charity dinner in Russia a couple of years ago - for him Seagal has always been a legend and he really enjoyed talking to him and they even dined the next week after the event (I have the photo 😂) - and he was very humble, very friendly towards my father and seemed a great guy to have a conversation with.
I would love it if Donnie Yen was able to come on to the show!!!!!!!!!
This is amazing! Thank you Scott - this series is one of my favourites
The best Seagal interview. Great job!
Man, steven seagal was the man back in the late 80's /early 90's. Everything was so different about him
Full respect to Scott for keeping a straight face. I'm laughing just from watching Seagal.
Did he fart in the beginning of the interview 🤣🤣🤣
This interview was terrible seagal had no sense of humour
Scott adkins had a great laugh with the other martial arts star's
Wow! What a nice surprise to see Steven Seagal on your show Scott! I think we need to appreciate what Steven did for the movie business! What he stated about humility and ending the fight as fast as possible when there was no way out is exactly what my sensei taught me years ago! Respect to Steven Seagal and respect to you as well Scott.🙂
@@michaelterrancedoran751 Seagal skills as aikidoka are genuine. You can hate him all you want but those skills took a lot o years to gain and that deserves respect.
best & most respectful interview to Sensi Seagal. Thank YOU SCOTT!
Thank you for sharing this unique experiences with the different martial artists / Actors that we grew up with , watching those amazing movies made with heart and soul , I'm an 80's kid and I completely identify with that era , studied karate and tae kwon do because of Bruce lee , Van damme and so many others , by making this videos a lot of new generations will continue this legacy by sharing the beauty of the martial arts filmmaking ... Greetings from Mexico Scott (amazing job with the Boyka character)
It's really great that Scott Adkins can have these action guys/martial artists on his show and have honest, no B.S. conversations with them. I think ego(s) if any - gets parked at the door. Be it Steven Seagal or anyone else, there's no room for ego here... come on it's Scott Adkins!
Hi Scott and Steven, what a great interview, I’ve watched it 3 times and I’m still learning something new every time I watch. Wow, what a life Steven Seagal has had, and is still having, thanks for the great interview, Wayne from Amherstburg Ontario Canada
I hope you interview James Lew. He’s the Luis Guzman of martial arts. Not a lot of people knew him but he seemed to be in every martial arts movies of the 80s and 90s as a bad guy
"This is my dance!" James Lew, The Perfect Weapon
Luis Guzmán? You mean pachanga from Carlitos way with Al Pacino?
Yes. That guy is pretty much in everything. Like James Lew in American martial arts movies. He’s incredible. Kept up with every martial artist he fought
@@fernandoguzman3154 I did my research about James Lew and this guy was a huge name in the 80s and 90s movie. Now I remember some of his movies..Thanks bro..
Much appreciated 💬., Of both Luis & James Lew.
Frequently 👀., But rarely given much mention.
Also very decent guy's when V% 🇬🇧 London. Regards 🙋🏻♂️
