    The video was filmed at 4k30fps, but the video did not load fully in my editing software, because I transferred the videos 5 times. Next time I'll try to make it better, sorry :(

    Will miss the old Caltrains but I am excited for electric trains.

    The upper level looks so roomy compared what I'm used to from bi-level trains. The less restrictive us loading-guage really opens up the car.

      Yeah they are (I think) 20cm taller than normal KISS trains used in Europe.

    These new trains look really, really great. This is such a huge step forward from Gallery Cars. The investment in electrification is WELL worthwhile. Someday this could be Metra!!

    • @markdebruyn1212
      @markdebruyn1212 5 місяців тому

      But Metra does not own most of it’s lines

      Metra instead has Gallery EMUs

    Hard to believe in just a few short months those trains will replace the f40s among other equipment on Caltrain.

    The Northeast needs to buy them too however the key difference is that both doors will need to be accommodated and opened in normal service because there are some operators in the Northeast that have electric low level platforms unlike New York State and Connecticut which just went high level platforms in electric territory

    I could be wrong, but in the promo it appeared to me to have a diesel locomotive rather than electric.

    • @Locomotiviert
      @Locomotiviert 5 місяців тому +2

      There is no locomotive on the new trains, these are electric multiple units

    I'm concern about the safety with the big gap on the platform from the train. at 3:48, that little kid could fall right into the gap.

      The "gap" is due to a project planning shortcoming, which one hopes should be remedied soon.
      All station platforms need to be raised-end to end-to the level demonstrated at 3:32 by the temporary structure that has been placed there.
      The door opening mechanism is designed so that a foot plate automatically slides out to meet (almost touch) the (raised) platform to enable absolutely gap-free and level boarding for both walking and wheeled passengers, *at every door along the entire length of the train.* The foot plate recedes when the doors close.
      It appears that the foot plate mechanism has been deactivated because the platforms here are too low-except for the one that can be seen at the raised portion of the platform.

    For me, this is 15 years too late. In fact, we should have had this back 20 years ago. When it comes to public works projects, public transit, etc, there should be NOTHING that stops it from development at the plan, the price, the scale as originally intended, regardless if there is a disaster, a pandemic, a decrease in ridership, or lack of funds. Transit MUST be a guaranteed service. If the job balloons from $1B to $10B then those costs should be removed from another agency or entity, like military spending, it should be put up by the Federal Government and taken out of military budgets first, congressional salaries second and out of taxes as a last resort. That said, prices should be next to nothing regardless the distance, because its already paid for in the taxes that were moved from military spending.

    • @gamerfan8445

      Yeah no Military is important.
