The fact that it came up in episode 2 and didn’t have a resolution until episode 10 makes me think either it was supposed to be the “big turning point” of the season or, more likely, someone wrote that line and went 7~8 episodes without realizing that was probably not a good idea.
That "gay and trans rights are human rights" line warmed my heart, I never know where the people I follow stand on the topic and it's always kinda worrying to think I may be supporting someone who thinks I shouldn't exist. Thanks.
same. it’s just nice to hear from a somewhat unexpected source sometimes. especially since I recently found out someone I followed was actually a terf.
Never in a million years did I think Attaway General would go down that route. It’s like they wanted to be a forward thinking show, wanted to wrap it up with a nice little bow on how Bensy boy manages to convince ‘I almost died so I turned to religion’ that being gay is just as natural and valid as any other sexuality, and that you can’t change that because you’ll be changing them on their very foundation, which will lead to a lifetime of misery and shame. And that, just because a book says it, doesn’t necessarily make it true. But the trouble is, they taped their hands into fists and blindfolded themselves and were spun around and locked in a completely empty room so no one could tell them where anything was, so they were physically unable to tie up that neat little bow. Either that or there’s the slimmest of chances that the writers, in fact, were like ‘christian bad’ and threw in ‘gay conversion therapy’ as an afterthought in some weird, convoluted way to seem like deep thinkers? I guess we’ll never know...
"completely empty room" Which also means there's no bow to find and thus their search is utterly futile, which ironically wraps the entire hilariously convoluted scenario up with a neat little bow of its own.
no kappa, you're in the right, conversion therapy is an EXTREMELY serious topic, and for them to treat it in the way that they did shows that they obv don't understand how serious of a topic it is. It really is like they treated the topic like he wanted to shave his hair. Conversion therapy can be talked about, but the way they handled it was extremely inappropriate. It's even more offensive (imo, as a lesbian) that it's more shoved to the side and just treated like her saying that is something minute. Brat TV very much could've done better and even put a 'pro-lgbtq' lil button on themselves just to even SEEM good, but threw that whole chance away the TL;DR being that conversion therapy wasn't treated appropriately for how extremely heavy of a subject it is. it more makes their one mc seem like an arrogant christian soccermom named karen over like an mc one can connect with

11:54 this absolutely not allowed… generally. (this is coming from a resident of the good ol’ US of A, so this is from a knowledge of the disaster that is American healthcare.) if a patient has beliefs that dictate general treatment, help them calm down, or allow them to open up, then sure, a medical professional can (and usually do) acknowledge them and act accordingly. doctors should not, however, bring up religion first or in regards to what they think, force religion on others (which you shouldn’t do anyway,) or use their religion to dictate how they treat patients or coworkers, unless it’s specifically requested by the recipient and doesn’t break any laws, codes, or rules. all of this seems like general common sense, but the idea of someone (i don’t think these kids are “professionals,” but nonetheless) who works at a hospital and is anywhere near other individuals and believes in conversion therapy is terrifying.
This show really needs to not talk about a topic in which innocent children were tortured just because they liked someone of the same sex It’s inappropriate and it’s represented poorly on both sides
I don’t think the writers understand how legitimately traumatizing gay conversion “””therapy””” and how awful homophobia is to experience..... Like why would they even do this whole “religious homophobe” thing???? And to pull this “both sides” thing is fucking awful
Even if you want to pull off a "both sides" thing, considering the nature of this topic, it's going to paint one or the other as a horrendous person, which if creating an arsehole is the point, go ahead I guess...

I'm gay. I'm trans. You aren't wrong about this?? I get needing a conversation about stuff like this but.. They're just saying not approving of gay people is just an opinion? No. It's not an opinion when it leads to human rights being taken away and treating people as if they are literal garbage. That is unacceptable- Thank you, Kappa, for covering this. I think you did a good job of bringing this up. It's so upsetting that a show like this for kids is basically saying "Hey that's not cool, but it's only a difference in opinion!" When it's so much more than that. As a kid myself who goes to school and hears insults regarding being gay and trans being thrown around like it's nothing.. it's not fun. I can't even imagine what victims of bullying and even going through the extent of "conversion therapy" have to go through on a daily basis. So once again, thank you.
Conversion therapy?!?!?! I AM GAAAAAGGED. Who wrote Attaway General and tell them to get off of straight TikTok. They shouldn’t be allowed to get away with that. I’m gay myself and I can confidently say Rosie’s character is a disgusting writing of a character and it shows kids that treating gay and trans people as not human is okay. It’s vile. Also BENNY’S OUTFIT IN EPISODE 7 IS GORGEOUS STAN BENNY EVERYONE ELSE IS GARBAGE GOODBYE DONT FORGET TO KISS THE HOMIES GOODNIGHT.
Yeah no, you're completely correct in calling the conversion therapy plot absolutely disgusting. As someone who luckily lives in a country where it is banned I wasn't forced to think about that if I told my parents about who I was they would make sure to "fix me" but so many kids do. And to act, like under any circumstances telling your coworker to get conversion therapy isn't incredibly daft and homophobic is a logical fallacy I didn't expect. This portrayal shows a genuine disconnect to the reality that many people face. It also could put the dangerous idea into kid's heads that conversion therapy "isn't that bad" or even good for you.
Whoa, kappa’s so full of Chad energy, he leaves a wake in the space-time continuum which our brains can’t conceive and thus interpret as white when he moves.
Episode idea that would at least give the show a chance of saying it wasn't trying to be homophobic: So, religious girl apparently likes to try to convert people in the hospital, and she does it on the basis that she found Jesus after almost dying. Have someone come in who needs a major operation, which they barely survive. When she goes to them and tries to help by being all, "God wanted you to live because he loves everyone," or whatever, have them get angry at her. The reveal is they were from a hyper-religious Christian home. Like, fundamentalists. However, they left that home because they were rejected by their parents for being gay. However, it wasn't until their parents sent them to conversion therapy that they left, since until then they were desperate for their parents to accept them so were willing to try it. And then religious girl finds out all the horrible things that happened to them in conversation therapy, how abused they were. How they were constantly told and reminded that they were freaks that God wouldn't love. And when they came back, they weren't straight, but they had zero self-worth, depression, and probably attempted s--cide. Their parents had no sympathy for them and were going to send them back. Instead, they ran away from home, rejecting the religion that hurt and tortured them. The key here is that Religious Girl never mentions conversion therapy. She has to find out about all of this without a single mention from her.
Torturing children is bad, but people trying to defend their right to exist is also bad. I see no difference between these two positions, for I am a useless milquetoast centrist. A sentiment all too common among people...
God, it’s stuff like this that makes me embarrassed for being Christian. I’m so sorry everyone who has ever been hurt by Christians. We are not all like this!
Great job doing your homework for this ep. You're not wrong at all, and the study citations prove you've got a good grasp on how harmful the actual practice is. Welcome to America, where saying "because magical bearded sky man" somehow still has the same political and logical weight as the entirety of science and human rights.
Holy shit??? I thought the show couldn’t get worse but now they have a character literally supporting torturing gay children? As a gay and trans person I am horrified they’re showing this to kids. Also I’m sad to say that from what I’ve seen she is an accurate portrayal of evangelical religions. Also super illegal to talk to patients about religion if it’s a public owned hospital.
Tbh I'm not so sure this is such a poor representation of religion. Any Christian I've met who finds out about my sexuality brings up conversion therapy in exactly that calm of a tone, and will try to convert people no matter where they are whether it is allowed or not.
even as a hard core religious nut that I am, the fact that someone even in that fictional universe actually let her into a hospital much less practice medicine will be the greatest mystery of science until the end of days lol
1. The boss lady looks like my old boss. 2. I can't take any of these characters seriously because they all look like 12 year olds dressed up like their parents playing hospital.
You’re not wrong at all, this shit isn’t acceptable and I’m shocked that the “”””writers”””” thought that it was. There’s no grey area with conversion therapy, it’s just horrific child abuse. It should never be depicted as anything other than the cruel and traumatic thing that it is, and the fact that Brat TV tried to do that is genuinely fucking disgusting. .... On a less serious note I’m hyped for the next episode in which Rosie will try to sell Benny essential oils to cure the gay with the only consequence being pink girlboss looking mildly disappointed (maybe even shaking her head)!
As a Catholic it makes me angry that whenever a christian character gets put in a tv show they're gay hating. Like... why? It's one of those 'tell me you're a christian without telling me you're a christian' tropes and I dislike it.

This was released on April Fool’s Day, that means BratTV is awesome.
That's opposite day, on april fool's they're just an even bigger joke.
honestly i need a shirt that screams "depressed bisexual" as loudly as a paisley button-up with rolled up sleeves
Brat TV very much could've done better and even put a 'pro-lgbtq' lil button on themselves just to even SEEM good, but threw that whole chance away
the TL;DR being that conversion therapy wasn't treated appropriately for how extremely heavy of a subject it is. it more makes their one mc seem like an arrogant christian soccermom named karen over like an mc one can connect with
So, basically how Onision handles abuse in any form.
Defenestration is an underrated conversation ender
I know this video is several months old at this point, and I know I watched it the day it came out, but it still makes me genuinely happy hearing a youtuber I really enjoy directly say that "gay and trans rights are human rights". I struggled a lot when coming out because there was pretty much no public figures advocating for it, or at least any my parents would let me see.
I’m really starting to not buy the idea that he isn’t who we all think he is now. What with the disappearing for long periods of time and spontaneously returning, this time with a, shall we say, “heavenly” glow around him.
i super love the white aftereffect behind u, or whatever its called. like genuinely i thinks its rly cool
Jesus what's the time difference between America and Australia, this was uploaded at 1 in the morning as I can't sleep.
usually like 16 hours on average
It was uploaded at 4:00 PM where he lives. I’m in the same time zone as him so I get videos at good times.
It’s 7:30 pm now. Time for dinner after a nice Kaiju starter

Over to the right; top of my recommended: Last Brat TV video 8 months ago.

I emotionally said poggers

The green screen creating a border around him is rly aesthetically pleasing

@@facelessdrone you realize most homophobes just find the extremes annoying or extra, right? They find the stereotypical, super forceful trans/gay person to be off putting. They most likely don't have a problem with most gay or trans people.

Yeah... tbh the casual recommendation of a hate crime does deserve the entire video!
Bruh literal torture being portrayed as /any sort of good idea/
Nice, Brat TV.
I saw "Step Up 2: The Streets" in theatres when I was a young man of... oh fuck I'm old, thanks for reminding me of my mortality, you affable Aussie, you.

That defenestration joke is superb, genuinely amazing.
attaway general is beyond a cinematic masterpiece. its a way of life. its like if the bible had a tv show.
i kept accidentally coming across lauren kettering tik tok and everytime i would spend 5 min looking at he tik toks trying to decipher if she was rosie or not
Godot's theme in the background... great choice.
gotta say the "fuck em, no free clout" gets me every goddamn time

ah yes, defiantly only three months

I love the fact kappa worked in defenestration into a script, beautiful man
11:54 this absolutely not allowed… generally.
This show really needs to not talk about a topic in which innocent children were tortured just because they liked someone of the same sex
It’s inappropriate and it’s represented poorly on both sides
I don’t think the writers understand how legitimately traumatizing gay conversion “””therapy””” and how awful homophobia is to experience.....
Like why would they even do this whole “religious homophobe” thing???? And to pull this “both sides” thing is fucking awful
Even if you want to pull off a "both sides" thing, considering the nature of this topic, it's going to paint one or the other as a horrendous person, which if creating an arsehole is the point, go ahead I guess...
"I'm just an enthusiast with a can-do attitude"
Both insists that he is a tired, tired man, also just almost ate a human heart
Everything checks out
Germany: Trying to convert patients in the hospital will get your ass yeeted out on the streets. Throguh the front door if you're nice, from the roof top if you're nasty
I'm gay. I'm trans.
You aren't wrong about this??
I get needing a conversation about stuff like this but..
They're just saying not approving of gay people is just an opinion?
No. It's not an opinion when it leads to human rights being taken away and treating people as if they are literal garbage. That is unacceptable-
Thank you, Kappa, for covering this.
I like how he doesn’t even explain what defenestration is, which makes it (at least for me)
Episode idea that would at least give the show a chance of saying it wasn't trying to be homophobic:
So, religious girl apparently likes to try to convert people in the hospital, and she does it on the basis that she found Jesus after almost dying.
Ok but Kappa Kaiju randomly throwing a fake heart is literally life.
as a person that’s both religious and queer, this storyline is 🤡🤡
I like how he essentially did an onion skin thing with the green screen
I must resist the urge to comment on the Ace Attorney music, but I already know I’m going to post this.
brb just putting the "remember kids, gay and trans rights are human rights" line on a permanent loop for,,,personal reasons
Torturing children is bad, but people trying to defend their right to exist is also bad. I see no difference between these two positions, for I am a useless milquetoast centrist. A sentiment all too common among people...
I didnt know they made shirts out of that pattern on bandana's
God, it’s stuff like this that makes me embarrassed for being Christian. I’m so sorry everyone who has ever been hurt by Christians. We are not all like this!
Absolutely love the background music being "The Fragrance of dark coffee"! (And everything else of our resident librarian)
The out of sync Rotoscope is actually kinda neat to look at

0:40 Yeah I totally checked it has been like eight months at the time of commenting.
weird way of spelling 3 you got there
It feels like he's explaining all of this to me while I'm tied to a chair and can't help but listen
Great job doing your homework for this ep. You're not wrong at all, and the study citations prove you've got a good grasp on how harmful the actual practice is. If I had a coworker/fellow volunteer say that to me, I'd immediately report it. If this is what she's saying to someone she knows, how much more fucked up must she be when it's a stranger?
Hey, really great to see you back again! Hilarious commentary as always, and I really appreciated your takedown of this completely horrific display of homophobia. Even if it’s as stupid as something like brat tv, it’s really great to see voices pointing out how awful this kind of stuff is.
I really love what you do, and I’m always happy to see something new on your channel. Every video feels better than the last, and I can tell you’re always putting your best foot forward. Honestly, I’m in a really tough place right now. You’re one of the few ways I can still smile.
I love what you make, and I can’t wait to see more. I can’t thank you enough for your content. It’s not derivative, it’s already amounted to incredible things, and KappaKaiju is a great name.
Thank you for your vids. I can’t wait to see your next vid.
I've never clicked faster on a video but for film Jesus
Ps: mans shirt fucking slaps
Sure it's 1am but who needs sleep when you have Kappa
Ayyy est
i don’t need sleep, i need to know how brat tv got worse
I love the use of Godot's Theme from Ace Attorney in the video. Awesome content as always ^w^
@12:30 "Am I wrong?" No. You're absolutely correct. However, large portions of the US would like to disagree with you. And another large chunk would tell you you're just making to big of a deal about it. Lots of Americans don't hide their homophobia while lots of Americans put it behind a think veil of religion and that whole "love the sinner, not the sin" & "let's agree to disagree" attitude. It's gross. We are no ok over here.
