Thank you so much for showing my deck! Yes, the astrology jives more with the storyline than "traditional." It is something I will think about for the next printing. My prototype was correct. The decks weren't (emperor/empress), and the labels were all I could come up with. The printers would not admit their mistake. It is shiny ink for the nameplates. I appreciate your honesty. I had the highest quality labels printed, and they actually worked well. It was definitely frustrating. The story of the deck is in the guidebook, and I think it helps associate the zodiac too If anyone has questions, feel free to reach out :) Thanks again xoxo
I think the astrology works depending on how deep you are in astrology understanding, because those signs are ruled by the “traditional” planets for example. For the empress Taurus is ruled by Venus (so is Libra). But that’s really for people who dive into astrology a little deeper than others 🤣🤣🤣
I'll be honest, I am doing my own deep dive into the astrological associations in tarot and the differences in Stardust Wanderer make it an immediate nope for me. I think some of the changes from planet to sign are based on the Sign being ruled by the Planet it is in the traditional association. Magician being Mercury which rules Virgo. I would need to take a closer look to see if that holds true throughout the deck and I am simply not interested enough to do that.
Thank you so much Lisa for showing and giving love to our Arthurian tarot ❤ it was a labour of love of more than 3 years of research and writing. I enjoyed reading tons of books with stories, history, work on the archetypal aspect of the legend. So so interesting !
It really looks like you've done such a beautiful job with this deck!!! I can't wait to translate so I can read the guidebook and all the wonderful work that went into it. I know that book was a labour of love!
Lisa, I want to thank you for adding the web links to the cards you review. You save us time. And, I know that it takes time for you to do this. Also, I so appreciate your honest opinions on every deck you receive, purchase or were gifted. I so appreciate you and the hard work you put into your channel. 💖
Man I hope a publisher picks up the Arthurian tarot for mass market, I so want that and just can't swing it right now, same with tarot of echos.. thanks for showing.
Lisa it's lovely to see you, and that you're feeling better. Your joyous review style has been much missed. Out of your current deck reviews my personal preference is the Marea Tarot. The feeling I get from many of the illustrations is like the Margarete Petersen Tarot, powerfully connected to spirit, full of light, and wonder.
For the Stardust Tarot I would just sand off the astrological symbols and the titles for the Emperor and Empress cards (using quite fine sandpaper and a light touch) and then write in what I wanted there. That way, the beautiful gilding gets to stay! I expect you may not feel like you should say it, but I will. I think the Creator should have just included new Emperor and Empress cards with every deck that they sent out, just like other creators have done.
I would find a paint marker and just cover those astro symbols. Also, a fun fact I learned from a candlemaker friend: candles tend to tunnel when the wick isn't centred. But some tin foil on the high side to attract heat and level it out.
FWIW - The Neoteric Feminine Tarot I bought randomly on Amazon back in November and I am here to say, it's my new favourite deck. The guidebook has soooo much info plus spreads and other super helpful ways to guide you as a beginner (reading card meaning by number, suit etc). I LOVE IT. It slaps. And I reference the guidebook even when using other decks.
Hi Lisa! When I was hearing your take on the astrology of the stardust wanderer, at least in the major arcana, the planets that you were referring are the ruling planets of the zodiac sign on the card. Moon is the ruler of Cancer, Mercury is the ruler of Virgo... and so forth.
Lisa, Thanks for sharing your deck haul. It's good to see you getting back into your routine. I hope your health continues to improve. Sending you all my best , Amber 💕
Aw, the cloth is so cute. 🥰 And that Starbucks drink looks sooo good. Thanks for sharing all these fun new decks! 💖 The Marea deck looks STUNNING. Also!! The cardstock issue you brought up about Hayhouse decks, I’ve noticed with three of my Rockpool decks - Bosch tarot, Mystic Martian oracle, and the Squidcake Marseille. 🫤 Maybe they use similar card stocks? It sucks, because I love matte decks.
Does anyone know if there will be an English edition of this gorgeous ‘tarot de arthurien ‘? I’m so tempted and although I did study French up to A level I am pitifully rusty in it now (over 50 yrs ago!) and want to really absorb that amazing guidebook! I see that the deck creator has left a comment and wonder if she knows about pending English edition?
So I haven't seen the Stardust Wanderer a lot yet but the few times I've seen it it always gets me to be me when I was 6 years old and lived and died for sparkle. It's so sparkly and I looooove it almost to the point where I don't care what the rest of the deck is I just want it because it sparkles and that shiny stunns me. But I'm not sure if I like the rest of it enough. I really need to watch a complete walkthrough. I have to say I'm really impressed by the guidebook of the Maria Tarot. I just have to mention that cause I feel like it deserves some props. I wish all of the guidebooks would do sth like this. Get into the symbols and the reasons why they depict the card the way they did without it being to much of a novel or to complicated. Abd yeah for you to finally get the tarot athurien. I'm also a huge Ana Tourian fan so I can totally relate to you getting the deck and not wanting to wait any longer. I almost feel like Ana can do whatever and it will always be amazing.
The Maera Tarot reminds me of a warmer toned Fountain Tarot with the oil painting vibe and strong geometry present. I also really appreciate the slimness of the white borders, I would not feel the need to trim this deck.
OMG so glad you got the tarot Arthurien 👏💕 besides the freaking awsome art by Anna Turian, the guidebook is out of this world. I know it’s more work to translate buy It’s really worth using google translation. Just try one page and you’ll know how much info is packed into this book. Claire did a thorough research of the Arthur legend and weaved it into the tarot archetypes. With journaling prompts, shadow work, etc. It’s a masterpiece. Really! 😊
I'm happy you're feeling a bit better! Any chance you are going to do a Hot Takes episode soon? I'd love to know your feelings about the new Neopets Tarot coming out this month (as I know the subject holds special meaning for you and Peggy). ☺️
For the Stardust Wanderer, maybe you could use a black sharpie or something to color and block out the entire bottom portion? Then go back in with a gold or silver pen on top to label them?
I can't believe I don't have the Tarot Arthurien yet...I live in France, so it's easy for me to get and the language isn't an issue. Seeing it here, it's so pretty. You should seriously earn commissions on the decks you've unknowingly convinced me to buy. 😂
On astrology: So first, of course, I think it's totally valid if you use the Golden Dawn associations and prefer them, and only want decks that use those. Completely legit personal choice! That said, I think it's great when authors consider their own knowing and what feels right to them astrologically (though the best is when they explain those choices! for example, Hollow Valley Tarot has a book you can get that goes over the logic and it's very rooted in essential dignity). Since the Golden Dawn Associations are based in part on interpretations on the Kabbalah that came out of an anti-semitic / christian superseccesionist approach to the occult, I don't think there's anything about them that inherently says "this makes sense and must be how it is!" You totally CAN get to those correspondences without referencing Jewish concepts / Hebrew letters out of context, but I'm not convinced they're the strongest ones available. Just some food for thought! Obviously it can be a little confusing if different decks use different correspondences, but at the same time I'd say an individual person's intuitive interpretation is to me just as valid, if not more so, than some guys who were claiming ancient, divine, mysteeeeerious connections rooted in a mysticism they didn't know much about the actual origins of. Maybe there's some collective power in a bunch of folks using those associations, so they become divorced from the initial "sin" as it were, and I'm definitely not here to criticize personal practice (I use these associations a lot in my own work!) but I like to be clear about these origins. (I do appreciate that you say they're a common correspondence set, not the only one!) ❤❤
My buffy deck started out bent length ways then it straightened out now it is bowed corner to corner. If you ever figure out why that happens let us know. It only happens when it sits for a while 🤷🏻♀️
The same accidental-buy-in happened to me this week with the Mamanmiyuki tarot in Amazon Japan... I was going to wait til next month but... Whoopsie! 😂😂😂
I LOVE the marea tarot. I wanted to back it but the size was too big for me. I can’t do cards bigger than standard tarot size, and prefer minis/pockets. Maybe if they come out with something smaller, I would LOVE to back. But you’re right there is something special about the art and it’s still Thothy but in a modern way
Having been there, done that, once you start a candle off tunneling, there's little you can do to fix it. I've tried leveling it off again while it's cold, but the struggle is real 😂
Soooo apparently that wasn't the issue but rather I was supposed to trim the blackened bits off the end of the wood wick. Seems wood wick candles are finickier about being kept trimmed and I'm not great at remembering to do that.
Ouch, that Arthurian Tarot is gorgeous. There are a couple of French language decks I think are amazing, it is such a shame that they are not released into an English version... I guess I'm being a chauvinist, but I really would love them in English :D
@@elineeugenie5224 Oh, that's such a shame. But I totally understand, it's a scary time for artists, atm. I think what I love about tarot is the 'worldwide' nature of the industry... where every territory has a few different, unique decks each... I love finding Euro or UK decks :D
Sad for the creator of the deck with the typo but i think they should have provided two corrected cards or an option to request them. Stickers would cause shuffling issues. For the astrology, perhaps you could use a matching paint marker and write over the astrology symbols? Or if you chop off the bottoms, you could remove the gilding on the other three sides... but that does seem like a lot of work
The next printing and when I find a new printer that will be an option. It would of cost thousands and the flat out refused to reprint just those two cards. I tried. The labels actually dont catch and work great. I tried!!

You're welcome! It's a beautiful deck!! That is such a bummer about the printer, sorry to hear about that.

Arthurian is mass market, it's just not an American publisher.

I literally yelled out Oh My God when I saw your unicorn cloth! It’s stunning!! I’ve never seen it before. Good to see you back. 🎉
As always, enjoyed hearing your thoughts as you share new decks. Thank you so much, Lisa.
SO happy to see The Marea Tarot in there. It's beautiful and the guidebook is super useful. It was love at first time for me :) Bélier is Aries :)

Put some aluminum foil around the candle and keep it burning for a while, this will make the tunnel disappear. 😊
Your comments on the Thoth deck made me wonder if this is why I'm obsessed with the Fountain because it has the type of box you're describing.

Awww the neoteric made the cut! I’m honored ❤ love you friend

Happy Unicorns so pretty. Glad your feeling better ❤ Did Dani do a mod on titles on a deck or dawn michelle? All decks are super pretty. T. Y.

100% with you on tarot size! I wonder if creators are young and have no clue about arthritis, lol!!
Pour some of the wax out of your candle to help the wick not drown 🖤

I cant seem to find Marea tarot for sale anywhere…was there only enough for the kickstarter?…i was a few days late on that. Thanks
I might need that Thoth one and the oracle LOL
Is the Marea available for purchase? Or is it now OOP?
I just messaged the creator on Kickstarter - I’ll let you know if they share anything :)
Do we have an e-mail for the Marea tarot creator? Would love to save up and purchase.
I didn't get the Marea because it wasn't in my budget at the time but it is beautiful, I love it as a faithful tribute to Lady Frida's art.
