The info about Phosphates was eye opening.

So good - learned a bunch!
I run my skimmer 8 hours overnight - because I heard both Dr Tim and Mike Paletta say that (him and Leng Sy apparently found that worked best). Maybe I will turn it off at night but I don't like having the noise in the day.
I gotta look up that Ecobalance recipe.
I do Carbon dose a tiny bit of Tropic Marin Bacto Balance - like 0.2ml a few times a week - nothing really but I do like the idea of controlling phosphates and nitrates with bacteria and feeding them. I agree - it can feed bad bacteria and reefers often go overboard but I think doing it does help phosphate consuming bacteria multiply which the corals eat.
I would be interested to hear what Dr Tim thinks about aminos - there is a theory that the aminos is a way of carbon dosing. Telegraham has been discussing it. I have since really cut back on aminos and I think my tank looks better - like if I carbon dose I try not to dose aminos that day.
Thanks Keith and Dr Tim - another great epsiode
(But it was very sad to hear about Matt;( Condolences to his family and loved ones

Great livestream, I have alot of respect for Dr Tim. I only use his bacterial products exclusively and started both my tanks with Dr Tims One and Only and both were a success from the start. I appreciate his honesty and transparency. I have tried using bio pellets and it was huge FAIL, I agree with all the carbon dosing comments and concerns in this stream. Keep it up 👍👍

You are so right Keith when you say that alot of aquarist don't want to put in the time and elbow grease to solve problems. I would rather just take my time and work through issues and have long term success over insta curing one issue with chemicals but causing 2 or 3 other problems in the process.

Dr Tim is an amazing guy. Had the opportunity to talk to him for about 5 minutes at NY reef appalooza and my problem with cyanobacteria is fixed. Great livestream. Thanks Keith.

Great show Keith. Dr Tim has to be one of the most knowledge person about bacteria in our aquarium. I was able to talk to him at RAP. He wasn't pushing his product. He was actual given me an education on bacteria. Keep doing what your doing, Rappin with Reefbum is best hour and more on youtube. Always great Guest.

It might have been a coincidence but when I was struggling with bad dynos, I tried everything, nothing worked until I dosed Dr Tim’s Waste Away. After about the 3rd dose, it was all gone. The tank looked perfect and has ever since. I wonder if dynos aren’t good for a certain bacteria and when your tank gets low on them, the dynos get out of hand.

I wonder if anyone tried turning the skimmer off after hearing this, very interesting on a bacterial level.

On week 8 of waiting for Aquabiomics results. Thank God I didn't have a known fish disease active in the system, or the whole tank would be dead at this point.

With all the respect for dr. Tim, he missed the key point of an reef aquarium. When you run a CLOSED system, it does not matter how many bacteria/volume you have and turning off the skimmer has more negative impact than positive. (Gas exchange, PH, oxigen saturation etc). I’m curios if the guys from Georgia Aquarium have the skimmers on timer:)))).

No Offense but! Are you an expert on this?!?! Where's the data proof to prove your point?

@@JBReefer45 In general regardless the subject , when you don’t know what are you talking about, everything is possible. The germans have a saying: “Gefährliches halbwissen” it means that it is dangerous when you know only half. That’s why there is no need to of data proof to prove a stupid statement.
