This channel has a huge load of music from different bands! I have seen other channels that have different music. But this channel has a huge prog genre I that can definitely get into. :)
This explains a lot, taken from the bandcamp of the project: "Progressive rock / metal from Malmö, Sweden. 'Octavarium' is the solo project of Mattias Ohlsson. The name of the project pays homage to the classic album by 'Dream Theater', a band which is also a great influence on the music of 'Octavarium'. Other influences include Porcupine Tree, Neal Morse and Riverside. Epic progressive metal combined with more accessible rock. Enjoy!" ...impossible to keep regreting about the vocals, because it's a solo project.

Everybody hatin on the vocals but ya know what, it's got a feel you can't get anywhere else and that's something to appreciate. Great music and vocals if you ask me. Just a bit peculiar
I agree.You know,when i heard the first notes of him I said what is this voice but then in the second track I really felt him and I wouldnt want something else!After many repetitions of the album I dont have any problem with the vocals but the truth is that he needs to work more with his voice ,I believe especially in low notes.
Not always steady vocals, but I have listened to the end, which counts for something, as I will skip albums on YT if I can't stand it.
musically.... just sick. gorgeous. Enviable. Giving this a fair shot, by 40 mark, vocals sounding much easier on the ear and engaging. Fitting. Check it out bravo. I never coulda put this whole thing together.

I love the vocals and the music
Hope that all people who commented about vocal are wrong so I cautiously listen to the music and then at 03:15 minute mark the vocal arrives and sadly I have to agree with them. He should be aware of what he can not do and lend someone else's to do the job
Octavarium is such an iconic song and unique made-up word, it really didn't need to be a band name.

I wouldn't say terrible singer like everybody on this comment section, it's just that the rest is so good that middling vocals are a bit dissonant. It would surely benefit from a better vocals mixing and a top-notch singer, or at least a really good one

It's called standards. He's off, and not the way David Bowie was off and it was unique, this guy doesn't hit the pitch he is supposed to hit.
Who's standards ? Hes not James labrie thats for sure but i fell the maybe will get better. Hes flat jn some parts especially the slow songs .
I like his voice but he needs to work more.He could be way better.But I wouldnt want another vocalist.

I really don't want to be nasty, but vocalist is dragging whole quality extremely down. I think I've heard girl singing in few bits. If so she was doing better. I'm not sure what to think. Cause it could have been really okay album... Thumbs up just to support in your route.

Yup gonna have to agree w many , the vox r meh....but the drummer is very good. If it's not clever programming.. The reason I say that is there is a lack of hi hat or ride even and the snare is that hair band snare sound, like a preset w some compression . Just something about it..
