About The Game: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[a] are two action-adventure games in The Legend of Zelda series, developed by Flagship (a subsidiary of Capcom). They were released in 2001 for Nintendo's Game Boy Color handheld console and re-released on the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013.

Sometimes the GBC Zelda games don't get much love but I think they are very fun. What do you think of these games? And which is the better? Ages vs Seasons? I kinda like controlling seasons, but then again the time function in that dungeon is really cool..

I think I prefer Ages, but I played Ages first, then Seasons, so I might be biased.

I have a theory that all those Ninja Turtle and Sonic ice creams are 20+ year old bulk buys from the 90s that were purchased by the millions and never sold through.

I think Jesse and Dodger work(ed?) in the same building as Jirard so it would make sense that he'd have been at least aware of Crendor's existence. Probably met him during one of Crendor's tormenting Jesse with non-content sessions.

Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons weren't even developed by Nintendo, they were made by Flagship!
It's worth noting that the NPCs that give you codes only appear when you play a title as the second game, likewise, the receivers of the codes appear after you've beaten the first. Moreover, matching a code from the second game with an NPC from the first gives you a new code to transfer the new item over to the second game so you can use them while completing that game, which is the mechanic's primary purpose. Even the manual isn't exactly clear on how this process works, so I think it's worth elaborating on.
I completed both of these games myself over the course of a few months, taking breaks here and there. This was an incredibly rewarding experience, but I do not recommend anybody trying to blow through everything all at once. Take breaks, do little chunks at a time, because the burn out is real.
I haven't watched Jirard's content in a while, but he's covering my favorite Zelda game, so... This is gonna be good!

I really don't think they both are the same game. Maybe I'd consider them as parts to one large game but not the same game.

I say these two games should get remakes
ages was the first video game i owned and i love both of them to death. i remember doing so many extra chores around the house to be able to afford seasons and it did not disappoint.
SEASONS LOVE! Ages was more annoying than fun when I played it back then. Also, the changing seasons was just awesome at the time.
I just got Twilight Princess and am going to play it for the first time ever, wish me luck guys, I hope I enjoy it despite what some may say.

I myself played Twilight Princess for the very first time not to long ago and I honestly didn't like it at all. Not saying you shouldn't either, but it's not the best game ever made.

I love these 2 games. I did a 100% run of them myself a while ago.
I did Ages->Seasons->Seasons->Ages, and had Dimitri as a pet because Dimitri is best.
I think this game was designed as a sort of group play where friends share their codes on the playground and the group builds up to something amazing.

Random trivia: Both Oracles that got games(Din and Nayru) wear sandals but the Oracle that didn't get a game(Farore) wears boots.

Oracle of Seasons was my first game in the series when I was a kid and it developed my love for Zelda.

I'm actually pretty interested in a Suikoden typed game completion when you have to collect a bucket of characters.
If you are looking for a hard nintendo game then i would recommend playing pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky, that game is INSANE! I have had that game for a long time now and i still havent beaten it becasue of it's insane difficulty.

I got screwed over trying to beat Oracle of Ages. In the game's Water dungeon, There was ONE gem that I could not switch with, because the switch hook was only a few pixels away.

You know what sucks if you want to 100% this game. There are extra heart containers, and if you get them through secrets and already have max heart containers, you'll lose one heart container by getting the extra one.
Guys this is a really fair review. They feel mostly like the great zelda games but Capcoms influence is clear - too many random events (gasha rings, minigames) that don’t tell you you need to play them to get certain inventory items... I’m about to do my Ages to Seasons playthrough to get ONE ring!!! But it will be a fun experience to do so with all other rings at the start so I can SLAY... it’s a confusing ride, but it is fun, it is rewarding and, on the 3DS it’s about £10 for both games and about 50 hours game time which is superb :)
Frankly I like the taste of tooth paste and orange juice, but tooth paste and grape juice... hell, TAKE MEH WIT U!
When I started playing this I wanted to play the games linked but never had a friend to play with, and I believe you can get the codes early by second play through if you play them linked.

getting the like not because it's about zelda (won't let me like it twice or I would) but because you worked so hard on that initial joke and it turned out great XD (still a zelda video and deserves a like, but I think the joke needed the attention)
Fuck that mermaid level xD. Game is awesome though, the time control power have never been done this well before as far as I know and controlling seasons is pretty original. Though, CHOOSE DIMITRI(Red croco dragon komodo thingy). You keep your pet through the games and the red croco is the only one that gives a reason to use him after you get your items.
I love how they talk about the dungeon's time travel mechanic and praise it as if it's never been done before.

Tomorrow I'm picking up the Oracle games and Link's Awakening DX cartridges for my GBC. First time playing Zelda! I wanted to start with A Link to the Past, but I don't have a GBA or SNES and I have ceased to play emulators as of a couple of years ago. Original hardware or nothing.
I imagine that's what Crendor does on a daily basis.
Remakes and rereleases are very unlikely, because, like Minish Cap (another unlikely rerelease) they were developed by Capcom.

13:48 This may sound odd, PeanutButterGamer but I would dare say it was good. I was surprised when I tried it back in the day. It's like they mixed two Coca-Cola products together: a Fruit Punch Power Aid and Vanilla Coke. It was a unique experience.
Otherwise, this was a great crossover episode; just wish you would have brought back spoilers/final level. I hope to see Jirard tackle Sly 2: Band of Thieves down the road.
