This is my favorite Twice cb. The whole album is amazing. This is one of my favorites off the album. You can really feel their love for each other here.
This gave me Feel Special as a group love letter with Dance the Night away aesthetic. Could be just me but either way, I loved this song a lot. Jihyo definitely makes up for her less appearance in the next M/V but Jeongyeon definitely owned this 2 video comeback, personally. Appreciate the reaction!

Why are Jihyo stans so pretty?
This song is so much better than the TT, and more emotional. It's a beautiful song dedicated to the struggle of being in a group with pressure and expectations constantly on the way, and the bond you gotta have to face it together. An incredible song and the video helps to put faces on the emotion. Seeing Jeongyeon and Mina with special moments, the two members that have needed to have a hiatus, was cute, too.
özlem is right those red strings refers to their bonds and being with each other and supporting each other when times are tough, twice is not just a kpop group they're family.

this whole album is about their frienship and sisterhood bond, the theme for IGY specificaly is the red string of fate which is a Japanese belief that you're already connected to someone even before you met them. so the girls are already fated for each other even before they became Twice and they will always be connected and tied together now and even beyond their years in the future when they start pursuing solo paths. They'll always have each other, and thats so beautiful coming from them because theyre one of the kpop groups with the closest bond for real.

OMG same I was looking for Jihyo in the entire MV and i hardly saw her, the only part where I could clearly hear her singing was the last chorus

The red string of fate is actually folklore, with slight variations, in Korea, Japan, and China (nice little tie in with Twice don't you think). The story is actually about how each person is tied to their one true soulmate. Here Twice is saying no all 9 of them are pulled together (making it different than feel special). The animation depicts this perfectly they are all in the water and the string wraps them all together and deposits them into the ship that is the ship (ok it's actually a boat but you get the metaphor) that is Twice. This song is about them, I know we ONCE's like to project ourselves into their lives but this one belongs to them, the good news Dahyun's song (she's such a great lyricist) the last song, give's us ONCE's access to the ship and wraps us in. It's my second favorite behind this one. OT9 forever (TIMELESS).

esosa was definitely overthinking the red string of fate concept 😂 it's just a popular east asian myth where people are destined for each other and connected by an invisible red string that bonds them together. and yes, the red string of marriage is also derived from that same myth, but the red string can be both symbolized for love and friendship or any relationship. in this case, Twice used it to symbolize their friendship
My theory is that Jihyo was recording her solo album when they were recording vocals for this, which is why her voice isn't in it as much
