I came across some baby sea turtle tracks one morning at the refuge and noticed many of the tracks went up into the dune instead of directly to the water. A quick search revealed several hatchlings floundering in the dune vegetation. As the acting refuge biologist, I am permitted to handle these protected turtles for purpose of rescue. This was an amazing opportunity for me to examine these amazing creatures up close and personal, a rare an priceless occurrence.
These animals are protected, please do not approach them in the wild.

I saw my first wild sea turtle not too long ago on a trip to Maui. You sir, are an amazing person. Every single sea turtle deserves a chance at life. They're pretty much as wondrous an animal as unicorns, if you ask me.

You're a hero! I've recently got a huge interest for sea turtles and my dream is to work with rescuing them and protecting them. I wish I had the money to go to the countries where you can see them, but I guess it will stay a dream until I get off school and can begin working

I live in South FL where these are protected. However I have to thank you for helping save them and help them to the ocean. Or they wouldn't have a chance. I cant stand the thought of people who steel these!

seen one hatching at turtle beach in Laganas zante, it had 50 spectators watching it heading to the ocean, before the beach was closed to walkers in order to protect the turtles.
Thank goddess for kind people like them to save these poor loggerhead sea turtles. They are my favorite out of the seven species of sea turtles.

they should make a fence or something around the grassy area. So they have no choice but to go to the sea by sand and it'll be impossible for them to get stuck

+Gonzo Wild Good job!.Great rescue...I have ALWAYS had the idea that we could help increase the numbers of these endangered animals by trapping them when they hatch and taking them to a place where they can safely grow a little bit more before releasing them into the ocean. In this way, fewer animals will prey upon them. YES, it is interfering with the natural process, but this measure will increase the number of turtles..

Poor turtles. I found a baby painted turtle at the side of the road, but I only found one, not five! Very impressive!
I was at a river in Montana and my dad is a fishing guide and for the 500 times he's gon fishing he has never seen any turtles so my friend just randomly spotted a turtle Idk how she spotted it because it looked like a rock do then she picked it up and figured out it was a painted turtle. It was really cool

We have a park in Delaware called Lum's Pond, where we used to go boat fishing(it's actually a lake). We would often go into this shallow cove and shut the electric motor off to fish. Within maybe 5 mins of remaining stationary in the water, these painted turtles would start popping up all around our boat. The whole cove would be filled with dozens of them, mostly full grown ones.
Years later I was living nearby that park, on its outskirts, when I spotted a small turtle on the road just 150 yards from our driveway. I stopped my truck and picked it up, with the intent of taking it somewhere safe, away from roads. I put it in the passenger side floorboard, and began doing research, because although it was clearly an aquatic turtle, it apparently was not a painted turtle or snapping turtle. After looking at pictures online as I sat in a convenience store lot, I discovered it was an apparently endangered 'Spotted Turtle'. It had a single yellowish spot on each scute on top of its shell. So I drove back to the lake, found an area off the road, a good distance from the parking lot, and dropped it into a deeper, more sheltered cove of the lake.
Later I discovered that spotted turtles prefer shallower water areas, like puddles, swamps, shallow ponds etc., and apparently they migrate from one shallow wet area to another. That's probably why it was on the road in the first place.

Im at hilton head right now.we went night walking on the beach by cocos.we walked up on a logger head laying eggs .it was so amazing .we called and reported it .with in ten minutes they where out there marking the nest off and making everyone at there beach houses shut there lights off.checking that off my bucket list right now im high on life .saveing the earth 1 turtle at a time 🐢.

I was on vacation in Kentucky. We found a bog turtle on the side of the road. It had tire tracks on its shell but his head was out and moving around. We picked him up and drove him to the closest swamp and made sure he was okay. Every day on that vacation we would go to the swamp and try to find him. On the fourth day, we found a turtle with the same tire tracks on his shell.
Aaaaand thats the story of how me, my uncle, my aunt, and my cousins saved a turtle! :3
