geez this is so far the hardest thing I came across learning guitar by myself from youtube. Literally I was trying to somhow skip it but it's finally the time to actually put some work into it and leran how to properly do it :(
I have problems with the two strings barre. Playing stuff that requires it a little bit more than once I develop a slight pain that I really do not like. It comes especially by overextending the last joint of the index finger. Usually I pause one day or more because I scare to face a major problem with my tendons. Someone else experienced it or has tips/solutions? Many thanks in advance.
It is likely that you might be pushing too hard and not using the natural weight of the arm to form the barre. It's a tricky balance. Do you practice barre exercises every day? Like 30 seconds a day!
@@Thisisclassicalguitar Thank you for the answer. I think my technique is correct, I apply what I learned studying classical guitar. Indeed, I apply also the tricks you suggest :) But the problem arises when I work on rock stuff: soling with pentatonic scale and playing very fast perfect 4th intervals. I use the two strings barré because other solutions like playing perfect 4ths on the same string (changing or not the position) make me playing not fast enough. I'm starting to think that maybe I practice two much time the same thing and, for sure, I do not stretch my fingers enough before and after the practice! Anyway, I think playing that kind of rock stuff perfectly applying the correct classical guitar technique would be an interesting argument for a video you can make :) I suppose many people would enjoy it ;)
thank you for the video, is it possible to just have a fat ring finger? Some chords tend not to be clean because of this damn finger, I have been dropping the elbow and arching, I will take any help thanks
There are many players with large and small hands. Just remember to start by practicing the basic advice and as time goes by you can zero-in on the issues or millimetre changes that need to occur. Sometimes with beginners I just tell them to practice barre and let it buzz and squeak for a month but make sure to keep the finger straight and close to the fret. After some time doing this we can focus on the micro issue that causes any problems.
I always have problems with the G string. i assume its the shape of my finger, but i just cant get a clear sound out of my G string whenever i do a barre
@@Thisisclassicalguitar yea, kinda, i just started doing it because of songs that would frequently use them, so i dont have much exercise yet. I still found it weird to not be able to do it, no matter how hard i try, but i will keep on practicing, maybe i can fix it with little adjustments Ty for your answer
Hmm, if it's slipping away on your leg you might try using some shelving cloth to keep it in place. I use it at all times to keep the guitar in one place without any pressure from me. For example, this product: amzn.to/2UaAzPQ
May I ask what form the d chord is at 12.50? It looks as if you aren't using finger 2. I thought fingers 1, 2 and 3 had to form the A shape to play D Major like that. Is it d
Yes, it's a D major chord (D, F#, A). I'm just not playing the full chord shape and plucking four notes instead of 5 notes in the full shape. As long as a major chord has the three notes of the triad (in any order) it is a major chord.
@@Thisisclassicalguitar Thank you do much. I was becoming an quite unstuck by my confusion. I have purchased your two books because Im so impressd by your teaching!
@@kyyoru Try starting on the 7th or 8th fret. Even put a capo on so the strings are closer to the fretboard and like he says don't overdo it just 4 or 5 minutes a day for a few weeks and see if you improve. Make a video of your first attempt and then do another every fortnight. I hurt my hand and arm a few years ago by using too much pressure and practising for too long.
Really helpful, thank you.
Awesome! Helped me so much! Thanks. 😊

Just make sure to practice it every single day. Not for long, just a little bit and move on, after some time it will get better and better.
Great Video, thanks.
Very helpful, thx!
Thanks for the tips this was very helpful

Ya, a micro adjustment to your finger position usually does the job. Do you practice barre exercises every practice session?
