I think they created a really interesting villain in Agatha. She’s definitely the villain considering how many people she’s killed for their power, but she’s not one dimensional. She’s not just evil for evils sake. You can see her motivation, even though they don’t excuse the things that she’s done.
Actually , the witches she killed after her son died could be considered bad as well . Yes , Agatha did provoke them every time , but if they decide to attack and try to kill someone , just because they throw a few insults at them , then theoretically, Agatha was killing them in self defense. Same with her sisters and mother attacking her - self defense. The only times she was REALLY evil when killing were after her baby was born , and she took out the coven that accepted them in their protective circle and offered food , or when she killed Alice that was protecting her from her mother . Now I understand that she killed Alice to keep Rio busy so they can continue on the witches road without her and to distract her from Billy , but taking a life for that , it's extrem ...
@@jcs1025 “people” lol she’s hunted witches and did so because her mother treated her like trash and her original coven betrayed her. Not really something that can be considered “evil” or even bad. Her reasons aren’t as mind boggling complex as people keep trying to make them. She was protecting herself by eliminating the threat before it became a threat. She wasn’t out to hurt or enslave random innocent beings. Life made her cold, bitter and angry.
So many people don't understand Agatha's mindset about kill or be killed. Her original coven tried to kill her. This takes place after that. Of course she'd never trust witches again.
THANK YOU! I’ve spent a week explaining this over and over on countless reactions. It’s not that complicated. Not everything is about a super deep hidden meaning. In high school i used to tutor fellow students who couldn’t pass the math portion of the state mandatory exam. It was very basic geometry. The formulas were literally supplied on the test. All they had to do was add and subtract. Students failed it because they just couldn’t believe it was THAT simple so they figured there was something they didn’t understand and made it so complex that their answers were way wrong. This show’s countless reactions to it, take me back to those days.
Loved your reactions. I do think the Witches’ Road con working wasn’t really an indictment of witches in general. The only witches who would brave the road are those in desperate need or a with a particular lust for power, both more likely to be goaded into attacking her. Also I still believe Agatha couldn’t control it when she killed Alice. In that moment she had already lost control of her body due to possession and was in a fragile emotional state after the things her mom said about her. When Alice blaster her it was her first drop of magic in three years and they’ve also framed Agatha’s need to draw power from witched as a sort of addiction so it makes sense that she would have been in a sort of trance feeding on pure instinct until Billy shouted the one thing all her humanity is tied to.
I've seen people bent out of shape about Billy killing Alice and Lilia like Agatha didn’t say she was going to do it day 1. Yeah, he was kind of responsible (unintentionally and unconcsiously), but he gave them closure and healing before they died, which is a better outcome in my opinion. Not to mention Jen is now alive and unbound, which wouldn’t have happened.
Agatha killed Alice to keep Rio busy and distract her from Billy ... While Rio was dealing with Alice's death , the coven could go forward on the road without her . If Rio was not with the coven anymore , she could not figure out who Billy was at the time when everyone else did
Agatha wasn't in control when she killed Alice. It was just reflex. House of R did an audio interview with Jac Schaeffer where she agreed and mentioned that Agatha was just "SO hungry" when Alice blasted her that it was really hard to stop. So why could she stop for Billy? The theory was that because he has chaos magic, he provided a very filling 'meal' and that helped Agatha to control her response. Then followed several amusing comparison to was Billy complex carbs or stuffed pizza or ? 🙂
I felt like episode 7 and 8 were the finale, and episode 9 was the epilogue. Episode 7 pulled together all the previous episodes through Lilia. Episode 8 led the 3 remaining characters to their finish lines, and episode 9 gave context, background, and a gentle "what happens after, and next". Also, Jen doesnt know Billy created the Road, she will simply think she completed it as the legend told. The Path Ahead.
I think the last two eps were perfect!!! And in the last episode where Nicky says “my mother needs me” it makes me think he meant Rio instead, like he kinda knew her in some way and cos Agatha was killing witches it gave Rio a distraction so Agatha could have more time with Nicky so when Nicky didn’t lure the witches to Agatha it gave Rio no distractions which meant Rio had to do her job :((
I've seen that theory but I seriously doubt that her killing would have made any difference. Agatha herself said (in the last trial) that "120 bodies empty out every minute", and since Rio has to attend to every single death ever, Agatha would have to travel to, find, and kill, enough witches to actually make a difference in that number, which is impossible. If Agatha believed that she was doing this it was superstition out of desperation, not reality.
That’s not how it works and Nicky was clearly getting sicker before that day. That day was a result of him just being too tired to keep doing the scam and just wanting to relax BECAUSE he was sick, not the other way around.
Remember Death told Agatha she was distracting her from Billy by killing the witches on The Road. I think Agatha was doing the same by distracting Death with the bodies of all those witches to give Nicky as much time as possible. It's not a coincidence that the one day they didn't kill any witches, Death came for Nicky. After Agatha lost her son, taking witches' lives became purely selfish. She did it for power and survival, out of resentment, anger and spite. She has always been an opportunist. At her lowest moment, she saw an opportunity to take the beautiful song she created with Nicky and further bastardize it for personal gain, despite knowing Nicky didn't want to do it anymore. That's why she can't face him in the afterlife.
"I can cast illustrations, I can control a feeble mind, but I can not heal you, I can not protect you, and I can not divine when she will return." You know, if Agatha had actually covened up with a potions witch, a protections witch, and a divinations witch instead of killing them, she might have been able to get more time with Nicholas
The idea that any coven could take on Rio and hold her back, is just plain silly, to put it nicely. She literally had no trouble taking on Agatha and Billy. Agatha could’ve had countless covens on her side and still lose. That’s why she told billy you can’t fight death. It’s pointless.

I completely agree!

You were so spot on this episode with your connections, especially with the spirit guide
I can be smart sometimes

Thank you so much! That’s true. I keep going back and forth on whether or not she could control it

This! If anything, he gave Alice and Lilia the chance to live long enough to find closure before they died.
The bell that Nicky steals is the same bell in the 2nd episode that Agatha uses to start the Witches Road song.
Is it really?! You're really good at picking things up

This is apart of a trilogy stated by marvel so we're apparently going to see them again in vision quest
I really hope so!

They were amazing! That is so interesting, I would love if the double meaning was intentional
7:07 She cannot protect. She cannot heal. She cannot divine when.
If only she had 3 people for that.
If only… 🤣
Nicky died because Agatha was killing witches everyday to keep Rio occupied but on the one day they didn’t kill any witches he died 😢
I've seen that theory but I seriously doubt that her killing would have made any difference. That’s so heartbreaking 🥲

Now Ralph! Go get your house and blu-rays back!
Now is the perfect time! 🤣
her mom tried to kill her at age 18 in 1693, she had Nicky in 1750, when she was 75 (for context)
Thank you!!
I still think there is a big chance that lilia is still alive in one of her past self life’s 😅
I hope so but I doubt it 🥲

That is absolutely spot on!!
I think that older witch said "We accept you into the circle" before Agatha crossed the circle of stones, but her Latin pronunciation was terrible.
"I can cast illustrations, I can control a feeble mind, but I can not heal you, I can not protect you, and I can not divine when she will return."
