I really liked your black sabbath mention. The right music can really get the creative juices flowing; I like Soundgarden when I'm working on my campaign.
Alright Hank, at 13:36 I see you wrote that your map sucks, but it doesn't. HANK DAMN IT, you are an inspiration to me. The way you just doodle through stuff with seemly no direction and come out with some incredibly beautiful maps and drawings; it's mind boggling. You are awesome! Never forget that my dude!
How is your art so awesome? Do you sketch in pencil first and then outline in pen, or just use pen? This video makes me happy because I'm waiting for my 600 page journal to come in the mail. It's going to be all D&D. 😊
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing. These things can be very personal and it's awesome of you to open it up to the public. Very nice of you. I really enjoyed your narrative dice video called "Innovative Mechanics: Genesys and Numenera". It was the first video of yours I watched. Just subscribed!
If you incorporated the tesseract/octacoron hardware into path of doom choose your own adventure books, I would buy them all. Give me an impossible but modular puzzle, that I can unlock some secrets while knowing there are still deeper mysteries to solve in it, and then use what I know so far to inform my adventure path. 😵
I love that you pick up and drop ideas between pages; it makes me feel a lot better about my own abandoning of books :> My longest was 20 pages long of just straight vampire lore for a setting world i was thinking about. I wanted to do things differently with some monsters and eventually just burned myself out :o
I know the journal videos take months to a point of revealing but man they are the most inspiring. Im on my second book of crazy ideas and mechanics, I really want to thank you for the inspiration. You, rune hammer have changed how I view table top; just thanks. 👍🏻
Not to far from my own journal. Games in playing, games i wanna play, ideas, items, npcs and of course dungeon maps. The big difference is yours is so much better organized and the art.. oh god the art, how i wish i could transfer my mental images to paper more accurately
Hankerin', you are damned inspiring. I write buckets of RPG stuff on my computer, and I just started my first real DM journal thanks to you. What kind of markers do you use in your journal? I'm noticing very little bleed through the pages, even when there is crazy amount of inking.
19:00 A TCG maybe not, but maybe putting together something like an Adventure Card Game that's like a self-generating dungeon could be cool? Maybe like ICRPG where you put down a Location Card (that has like, a shape of a room) and Obstical Card (monster etc), a Goal Card (Treasure, door etc) and a Timer Card? Could be a cool way to warm up before a serious roleplay session and force folks to work off the fly!
I've made a really good card game based on Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I cant do anything with it, obviously. Licensing and whatnot is totally out of my wheelhouse.
realizing that there is a affection for actual paper, especially when doing noodle noodling. This may be due to my lost paw ( right hand eaten by a rip saw} You may wanna check out two free windows apps. Freeplane is a java based mind map app, and There's a outline / data base ish app referred to as Treepad. Treepad offers a free version, as well as affordable upgrade versions. hank, Awesome brainstew bits as always & thanx for sharein'
Hi Hank, I love those vids. Feedback: I'd appreciate it more if you had released your 2 videos on separate days. This way, I could experience this intense joy twice as much. Having them on the same is great but not strictly twice as much, it's a logarithmoic sum yaknow
Damn I wish I could draw. Being a dad of 4, part time Theology masters student, DM, and competitive Strongman... don’t know if this old dog could learn a new trick like that

26:30 "Is this my 1st fiasco?" No... I've been a DM since the '90s, it's ALWAYS a fiasco.

Most of your drawings in that book look amazing. Great book share.

Hello! The tesseract idea and this whole cryptic game idea is fantastic! Really WOW

I so so so greatly appreciate your journal videos. I try to journal for my campaigns as well and you are an inspiration.
Love seeing the ideas behind the scenes. Thank you.

Woah! That creature from Spectroid on the left page looks like a Scarab from Oddworld
Where do you pick up your journals? Anything you look for specifically?
not picky
I've made a really good card game based on Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I cant do anything with it, obviously. Licensing and whatnot is totally out of my wheelhouse.
Golden, thank you
How do you get down all these ideas without making any corrections? They're like perfect from conception!
Love it! Thanks for video!

What is your preferred pen to use? What you're using seems to have some pretty good... Penning? Pennage? Pen-niss?
Penmanship?
Man, that puzzle game sounds fun. Add me into the list of those that would be interested.
Do you carry your journal everywhere or do you have periods of time set aside for planning?
Yes I love these videos!
love it, thanks so much !
Are the podcasts solely Patreon?
Amazing where do you find the time ?
Cool!
Kickstart Spectroid. I will support.

Ronnie Lunn sure you can start with the fundamentals.
Hank, you should try to draw a comics )
what if you did a video game instead of board game for octomathecoron/tesseract/octacoron

Inspiring
