This is the simplest explanation of how to write a literature review I’ve come across, brief, concisely explained the details without being overly critical and to the point. Excellent video Prof.
Real life...right now...i am lost in the sauce with 72 hours to complete a lit review. This helped me visualize what needs to happen! Much appreciated!
From Minnesota, thank you sincerely! I have beaten my head against the wall so many times. Many, many people taught me the pieces of this throughout my education. But none told me what to do with them or how to deconstruct things I was reading that utilized these skills, so I was always lost. I finally feel ready to rumble!
I need to write a literature review for my MA research proposal, but I’ve never done anything like this during my undergraduate studies, so I felt completely lost. Thank you so much for this video-it’s given me a clear starting point!
I just started a graduate program and was ask to make a post based on provided content, l felt overwhelmed and didn’t know how to start. With this l feel 100 % prepared to face my studies. Thanks Prof
This video was the best, simple, and straightforward explanation I ever had about literature review. I wish I could have been your student. Thank you so much!
This video is incredibly helpful. Following the six steps prescribed by Pr. Stuckler really facilitates literature review framework. The key concepts particularly sparkled my attention; then came the numerous examples he brought in. I should definitely adopt this approach to complete my dissertation writing. .
This is the best video to assist with literature. I’m glad I watched it now, as I’m about to start this part of my research. I often begin things incorrectly and end up struggling, but that won’t happen after watching your video. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank God that I found this video. I seriously don’t know how to go about doing literature review. Too much info till I get lost most of the time. This video really give me a simpler perspective on this subject. Thanks Prof!
Prof David Stuckler... Thank you for this great video. The strip method is fantastic, your PEER technique is fantastic. I recommend this video to academic students worldwide.
this is one of the best videos on this topic - i like the opening sentence "paralysis by analysis" best. could you briefly explain to me - what would the topic of the work in your example be? Are the search terms in step 1 "inequality + health" or is it enough to simply enter keywords one after the other in google schoolar?
we have a dedicated PICO tool to help you refine your topic. join my fb group and we can directly message there, as well as cover even yours in our live workshops :)
Thank you, your calm, straightforward style of communication is appreciated! I'm in grad school for my MSW & this is so helpful for my intro to research class!
I’m applying for my Masters. I last graduated with my degree in 2003. Since then I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD. I don’t know how I managed back then. I’m so grateful for your videos. This is what I needed back then, aside from adhd meds. I’m looking forward to going back to school because of videos like these!!!
Hey Scarlett so happy to hear you’re getting value. Let me know if there is anything you would personally find helpful. I have several adhd coaching students - definitely reach out if you’re looking for support
The "strip" method is efficient. Because it demonstrates how to build a structure iteratively from the ground up. I believe structure is the key to "developing" a paper that readers can understand.
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION I EVER WATCHED. ONLY 1 IN 100 ACTUALLY PROVIDE LIVE EXAMPLE OF HOW TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH WORK AND NOT JUST LECTURING IN AIR...YOU ARE ONE OF THEM. KEEP IT UP SIR!
thanks Rasheeda - definitely join my FB group FastTrackGrad and take part in our live sessions where we work together to help you on your research projects so you never feel stuck :)
It was absolutely an amazing experience and I am doing my second paper. Needed a reminder to keep going. I hope this year I get to achieve my academic goals.
Thanks for the video. I only wrote the introduction and conclusion after writing the bodies. When you think you know enough information to write an introduction, but when you run through the research body...the introduction does not mean anything you find in the literature views. The best would be finishing the body, then introduce what you just wrote, then conclude what you just wrote.
Thank you so much for this helpful video! This is my first time writing a thesis so I have a question. All the paragraphs at the literature review should have the peer structure? All of them? I mean, if we have a 10-13 pages of literature review with more than, let's say 15-20 paragraphs, all of have to follow the peer structure and mention something new? Thanks in advance!
The video was truly insightful, especially, the 'Strip Method' & the 'PEER technique'. Thank you, Professor. I have a question, while writing the body paragraphs, do we also have to interpret and analyze what the authors in their previous studies mean? Would also like to have one on one session with you. Thank you! Regards,

This is very helpful. Thank you. My only concern that your paragraphs are descriptive about these papers. For my MA literature review essay, I was told that this is the main reason students fail. They want the whole essay to be a critique
Thank you so much. Please what is the difference between systematic and literature review. I was asked to contribute to a prospective review paper for the first and this video truly meet me well
systematic review is a methodology so if someone else followed the exact same process as you did they would get the same results. So you have to describe exactly what steps you took to find the papers that you use.
Hy, how do we organize the notes while reviewing literatures. Should we just note down and write simultaneously or finish literature review and then synthesis literatures? Can you please provide your suggestions. It has really been a daunting process for me.
Detailed scientific paper writing techniques are under explored. Though it is the most important part to communicate out research work. In 2022 Prof Dave published a great content on how to write scientific articles to the point. In this video Prof. Dave describes the chronology of writing skills to make the content clear and to the point. Hope to see more videos on this topic, it will be great If Prof. Dave analyses with real published articles.(Ref: Prof David Stuckler UA-cam channel )

Yes there’s no one size fits all- just suggest not starting with the intro first! Recipe for frustration and endless rewriting
