Landing on your Heel will make your Flat Feet worse (How to Walk)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2022
- The Heel is key component of your foot posture and if you heel strike in conventional shoes, your feet will get worse with every step.
A forefoot strike, allows your Heel (Calcaneus) to invert and evert in a full range of motion.
In this video, I explain how to walk without damaging your Heel and a few exercises that can help you develop your Calcaneus range of motion.

1:34 great animation showing how it all works
Thanks for watching!
This is one of the rare cases in which I’ll happily pay for a program, I’ve been following you throughout the months and you always put effort and professionalism in your work. So even if I could probably gather 99% of the informations just watching your other videos, I will happily buy it in a sort of “gratitude” for your hard work and passion toward the topic.
A big hug from Italy! :)
Thank you, Very Much!
I'm a witness. This information is on point and it works. A barefoot/wide-toe box shoe lifestyle is the way to go to correct the damage caused by conventional narrow toe box shoe ware.
There is something about learning how to walk properly that just makes me smile!
I think this is your best video yet! The animations were incredible
Thank you!
So glad I discovered you. Am 66 ,love to workout, walk everyday plus walker, recently started doing squats and balance exs but when you talked about forefoot. Walking and showed convincing evidence, you had me, THANKS
This is why I developed stabbing heel and ankle pain. I've had to relearn to walk, have treatment, an injection and several types of shoes. I also bought correct toes. I'm going to see my own slippers out of felt with room for ties and correct toes.
How are things now ?
Love your content! Thank you very much! 🙌🏻
After damaging my left ach when falling out of a tree and my left foot landing on a tree root, I've had more wear on the rear outside edge of the heel on my left shoe and experience pain and tightness in the left ankle the morning after a long walk. I have no problems with the right foot or ankle
Wanted to share that about a year ago I started the Vivo shoes with the Injinji toes socks. Feet and legs feeling amazing! Thank you for putting out this information.
Hello and thanks again for another very well done and highly informative video gift .most doctors don’t even come close to unpacking the intricacies of the feet and walking like
you do. Your knowledge has helped me so much.
Please announce your name at the Beginning of your videos because I forgot. I will look through your older videos to get your name 👍
Glad it was helpful!
These videos were a kind of random recommendation by the algorithm but I tried it cause I wear barefoot shoes for quite some time now and after 3 days, trying to land on my forefoot, I think I got it down. Very chill way to walk actually. My hips feel nice and loose and I don't have any knee pain anymore. Great Stuff!
Your videos are great. I share your channel with anyone who will listen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi, I watched an older video about calf stretching. My issue is I have a fused ankle. What stretches/strength training can I do with a non-mobile ankle joint (right ankle)? Any helps is much appreciated, thanks 😊
Love this guy fantastic all around and must heeded
Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for covering what no one else has.
Thank you for watching!
I am
Really fascinated by the videos and knowledge. I really want to transform the way I walk and run
I really need guidance on which barefoot shoes one need to start with as a beginner that can help with proper walking and running
Do we need separate shoes for walking and running
Also worth mentioning that you can damage your feet if you don’t ease into barefoot shoes, I have a hairline fracture from only two days
this is a really informative video. habits need to be built in early. parents should look at the wear on the shoes of their kids to see if indeed it is not even so can be corrected at early age. i suffered from this and didn't have the knowledge of the internet.
Thank you. I agree.
Great videos! Getting into barefoot activities and “barefoot” shoes to strengthen my feet. Only problem is… I have a nagging tendon injury from taking a hockey puck to the skate 5 months ago to my left posterior tibial tendon connection to the navicular or medial cuneiform (not entirely sure which bone it’s connected to as I don’t feel like dropping $1000 on an MRI when the pain isn’t that bad). I’ve noticed that since getting Xero shoes and being more active in them has flared up the pain a bit more than it has been since the injury first occurred.
Everything I read online seems to point me towards resting my feet more, using an ankle brace with a strap that follows the same orientation as the posterior tibial tendon to support it, as well as using orthotics to support the arch from the ground up.
This all sounds so backwards and counterintuitive to the “barefoot” movement I’ve been learning about but I wonder… do I need to let it rest and heal using these methods and then slowly work my way back towards barefoot activity and foot strengthening?
So true. I can't sit on my heels anymore. So Im stretching and incorporating Yoga. I use to do Ballet and I struggled with getting in a few positions. Im getting better.
I find that it is easier to forefoot strike when running than walking. Do you have any advice to ensure that we forefoot strike while walking? I alternate between altras, vivobarefoot primus trail fg ii and xero prios.
Love this!!
Any advice for wrinkles and indentations of soles of feet when I turn my toes in more to the floor it’s more noticeable feel like I’m losing muscle in feet and have been doing exercises
Is there a way to fix a hole in the insole? My insole is not removable and want to know how to fix this
would you ever do a video on spine alignment affecting walking and how to fix it? I notice since i have a curve towards the lower third of my back i frequently struggle with engaging my glutes and hamstrings when i walk/exercise and struggle with very sharp lower back pain. Thank you, im so glad i discovered your channel after i took up walking and discover some various pain because of how i walk
Another great video! I was wondering, do you think you could do a video on how to stand? I know it sounds silly but I’m wondering if I’m not standing the right way, whether I’m supposed to have my glutes activated or not, or having the hips pushed forward or backward. Thanks again for the great information! 😊
Not silly at all. I keep all joints (from hips to ankles) slightly bent, never locking out joints.
The degree of bend depends on what you are doing...standing in a line; less bend. During a game; more bend (athletic stance).
You don't need to activate your glutes, unless you want your hips to thrust forward.
@@GrownandHealthy Awesome! Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 😊
What about if you have high arches?
So wearing thick heel shoes is like wearing a cast on your feet constantly? Noted Sir. Thank you for such important information
Should I try to actively supinate my foot while standing 24/7?
In order to have that natural arch
After a while it becames painful but don't see any other option to not get problems on the knees, hips, column
Is that the correct way to go about it?
Ive been noticing my work boots wearing directly under the ball of my big toe. They have a heel which Im now starting to believe is bad and could be increasing that negative gait
Ohh where did we go wrong haha, feels so weird to be an adult and learning how to walk 😅
Is walking running and sprint form all pretty much the same where you land on the forefoot?
Yes. The angle of approach (how far you lean forward) is determined by the speed.
I present it along these lines:
Sprinting - Lean as far forward as you can, without falling.
Run/ Jog - Less of a lean (60%-80%) of your sprinting angle.
Brisk walk - Somewhere between (~40%-60%)
Walk - (20-40%)
Stroll - (>20%)
The overlap can fluctuate depending on your mobility..
But every one can feel the difference of entering in and out of these modes (gears)
I've started wearing barefoot shoes and my knees are a lot better but it's not completely gone. I'm on my 3rd week with them
Great! The transition takes a some time.
@@GrownandHealthy how long do you think it will take?
I have only one flat foot. It has caused some real bad body mechanics issues. Any tips on how to fix it?
Hip alignment, your hip internal/external rotation should have symmetrical range of motion.
@@GrownandHealthy my IT band and Quadratus lumborum are chronically tight on the left side. Incidentally my left foot is the flat foot.
@@animeshupadhyai4057 how is your flat feet now?
Maybe next time say it in regular english so pwople can follow. Its too bad i have no idea what you are talking about
