  • The Heel is key component of your foot posture and if you heel strike in conventional shoes, your feet will get worse with every step.
    A forefoot strike, allows your Heel (Calcaneus) to invert and evert in a full range of motion.
    In this video, I explain how to walk without damaging your Heel and a few exercises that can help you develop your Calcaneus range of motion.

    This is one of the rare cases in which I’ll happily pay for a program, I’ve been following you throughout the months and you always put effort and professionalism in your work. So even if I could probably gather 99% of the informations just watching your other videos, I will happily buy it in a sort of “gratitude” for your hard work and passion toward the topic.
    A big hug from Italy! :)

    I'm a witness. This information is on point and it works. A barefoot/wide-toe box shoe lifestyle is the way to go to correct the damage caused by conventional narrow toe box shoe ware.

    This is why I developed stabbing heel and ankle pain. I've had to relearn to walk, have treatment, an injection and several types of shoes. I also bought correct toes. I'm going to see my own slippers out of felt with room for ties and correct toes.

    After damaging my left ach when falling out of a tree and my left foot landing on a tree root, I've had more wear on the rear outside edge of the heel on my left shoe and experience pain and tightness in the left ankle the morning after a long walk. I have no problems with the right foot or ankle

    These videos were a kind of random recommendation by the algorithm but I tried it cause I wear barefoot shoes for quite some time now and after 3 days, trying to land on my forefoot, I think I got it down. Very chill way to walk actually. My hips feel nice and loose and I don't have any knee pain anymore. Great Stuff!

    Great videos! Getting into barefoot activities and “barefoot” shoes to strengthen my feet. Only problem is… I have a nagging tendon injury from taking a hockey puck to the skate 5 months ago to my left posterior tibial tendon connection to the navicular or medial cuneiform (not entirely sure which bone it’s connected to as I don’t feel like dropping $1000 on an MRI when the pain isn’t that bad). I’ve noticed that since getting Xero shoes and being more active in them has flared up the pain a bit more than it has been since the injury first occurred.
    Everything I read online seems to point me towards resting my feet more, using an ankle brace with a strap that follows the same orientation as the posterior tibial tendon to support it, as well as using orthotics to support the arch from the ground up.
    This all sounds so backwards and counterintuitive to the “barefoot” movement I’ve been learning about but I wonder… do I need to let it rest and heal using these methods and then slowly work my way back towards barefoot activity and foot strengthening?

    Another great video! I was wondering, do you think you could do a video on how to stand? I know it sounds silly but I’m wondering if I’m not standing the right way, whether I’m supposed to have my glutes activated or not, or having the hips pushed forward or backward. Thanks again for the great information! 😊

    • @GrownandHealthy
      @GrownandHealthy  Рік тому +2

      Not silly at all. I keep all joints (from hips to ankles) slightly bent, never locking out joints.
      The degree of bend depends on what you are doing...standing in a line; less bend. During a game; more bend (athletic stance).
      You don't need to activate your glutes, unless you want your hips to thrust forward.

    Should I try to actively supinate my foot while standing 24/7?
    In order to have that natural arch
    After a while it becames painful but don't see any other option to not get problems on the knees, hips, column
    Is that the correct way to go about it?

    Is walking running and sprint form all pretty much the same where you land on the forefoot?

    • @GrownandHealthy
      @GrownandHealthy  Рік тому +1

      Yes. The angle of approach (how far you lean forward) is determined by the speed.
      I present it along these lines:
      Sprinting - Lean as far forward as you can, without falling.
      Run/ Jog - Less of a lean (60%-80%) of your sprinting angle.
      Brisk walk - Somewhere between (~40%-60%)
      Walk - (20-40%)
      Stroll - (>20%)
      The overlap can fluctuate depending on your mobility..
      But every one can feel the difference of entering in and out of these modes (gears)
