"Crypto" just seems like some buzzword they can sprinkle on anything and pretend that it's suddenly revolutionary. Even if the actual technology used doesn't guarantee any of the things they claim it does.

Unfortunately or maybe fortunately idk, the hackers will not be able to do anything with it. The feds keep a very close eye on the wallets with the stolen funds and there is no current way for them to launder it and hide their traces.

It is easy to feel like the thieves are like Robin Hood dispensing some sort of justice but the thing is they didn't rob this NFT Game because of some moral standing, they did it because they could and the profits were worth the effort. Hacking is absolutely necessary to computer technology and security. You've never heard of white hat hackers?
Hacker will alway exist, from the viligilante who want to push better security to stealer. No matter how safe, you network is, it just take 1 update to break your network. The more people who will put all their money into crypto the more volatile it will become and believe me it will be a shitfest. Also I need to point out that the dev team will never be able to pay back the people who have invest in it.
@@DracosKasurani Absolutely this. Thank you for putting it into better words than I could've. Once again, I'm against hacking in concept, but that doesn't mean that everyone who hacks is necessarily bad. It's the same with firearms. Sure, you could use them for good or self-defense. But there's always that ability to kill outright instantly.
There’s white and grey hats tho
That's one hell of a statement to send to all devs about what people think of " NFT 'S "
Wholesome to hear when stuff gets stolen from greedy people.

As how unregulated this is, and how Axiom loosened their security, they might aswell have stolen all that by themselves.
yeah they didn't really "hack" anything, they just tricked some simpletons into giving them all the access they wanted.
Like imagine if I walked into a bank, went up to the lady behind the front counter and just said "hey can you open the vault for me, oh don't worry I own the bank so it's ok"

clearly they went to the school of titanic marketing
That's how I feel about blockchain in general. It's only unhackable until it gets hacked, and then there is no safety net after you lose your shirt with it. Crypto is so volatile even before the thefts. Just like I wouldn't have opted to live in the Wild West of old, I'm staying away from all this, at least until it gets more civilized.
@@joesterling4299 That's the thing: it's vulnerable not to computer hacking, but instead to human hacking, AKA social engineering. It's never gonna be safer than what it is now unless they transition off of using blockchain technology, and at that point, that defeats the whole purpose of them.

When I was looking at the art, which isn't bad, I wondered why there was no variety in the creatures. Like if you took Pokemon and based every single creature on jiggly puff, for example. Then it hit me; this is an NFT game. Surprisingly it doesn't look completely awful, but the fact that they put no effort in making variety is telling in itself. It being a "game" really is just a front to trade money. It only invaded our industry to try and trick as many people as they could into getting scammed, that's it.
Games like these are supposedly supposed to show games can be made with the technology. But they just show that people using this technology aren't trying very hard, because they don't care whether the proof of concept goes anywhere or inspires anything, they don't care about the art, they just need a thin cover for making money and since they don't know or care anything about gaming it just becomes obvious what it is and a weird laughable attempt.
One hallmark of these operations is how consistent the icons are, because it's convenient to generate a ton of them from only a small handful of parts. The underlying token is what the people using it care about after all.
NFT shit looks lazier and low effort than someone lazy made it
Crazy
What’s even more disgusting is people in poorer countries were treating this game as a job, as they were promised a reliable revenue. Imagine a person who has spent years, 9 to 5, on this game only for all of your accumulated wealth to disappear leaving you entirely doomed. What a horrifying nightmare.
It's no coincidence that 99% of NFT collections are like this. It's much easier for someone to take a handful of art assets and let a computer randomly piece them together than it is to actually create a bunch of individual unique artworks. Even Beeple's work is mostly a mishmash of Buzz Lightyear models and other crap. The art is secondary. Never forget that.

In other words, smart contracts exposed how complacent programmers have become to security. Which is a bad thing in the short term cause lots of people lose money but in the long term, will yield a generation of security first programming
Solidity is an absolute joke of a programming language. All the gotchas of Assembly, but none of the granular control. They literally made something more primitive than 8-bit BASIC (you can literally clobber other variables you've created with delegateCall)
20 years ago I watched The Simpsons. Homer sitting in an internet cafe, some thief rushing in, putting a floppy in the computer and stealing Homer's money by saving/downloading it, showing a progress/money bar getting lower. Back then it felt ridiculous and unrealistic to me. Not anymore…
I legit think you're more likely to be ripped off by an NFT than you are buying drugs.
Oh 100%
At least with drugs you know what your getting into from the getgo.
Actually drug dealers rarely rip ppl off. They want repeat customers after all.
@@brianjensen5661 And they're dealing with clientle that will probably shoot/stab them if they find out they're cutting with sugar/flour/chalk.
At least you can sniffing the drugs meanwhile NFT aren't.
Its almost like if you de-centralize something, you loose out on the security that sort of centralization brings 🤔
Who would have guessed
And to think, the de-centralization was touted as a positive. It was supposed to make hacking the system more difficult.
@@Kwatcher100 The irony.
The problem with decentralization is that eventually some kind of authority will emerge to regulate things. Someone has to manage the "ledgers", someone has to run the servers, someone has to deal with inevitable disputes, etc.
But the Ronin network that was hacked in this topic is centralized.
What confuses me is how these major tech companies with all of the money and abilities they have, they don't seem to take their security more seriously.
Anyway, NFTs are just trash and given how unregulated it is, it's no surprise how there's so much theft and shady things that happen. NFTs just need to not exist.
Money invested in security, means less money in the pocket.

What is actually quite sad is that for some countries, like the Philippines, some people use Axie as their primary source of income 🤷♂. Kinda weird to say playing a game for hours as your "work" but it is.
Man it’s almost like regulations exist for a reason.
Who would have thought
Somehow they stole millions and nothing at the same time
Quite a bit of the financail sector in a nutshell.
$600m worth of ETH doesn't sound like nothing to me, the hackers stole ETH not the game's NFT.
I love the people who try and protect this criminal industry, they never give an answer, just "WATS WRUNG WIT ET?"
Well it's fine doing smth that hurts no one. Ofc this isn't the case, but still
I'm just reminded of how so many people just love to go out of their way to say how "It keeps records of everything! You know exactly who bought what-" and all this other fancy jargen that gets tossed out that you would think it should be a touch easy to be able to track such thefts. But I guess it is much easier to find the person who right clicks or presses "Print Screen."
And as what was pointed out, you would think if you have "Hundreds of Millions" up for grabs, you would probably want to keep that under lock and key. Yeah, hackers can find ways around that, but they apparently had a much easier time grabbing what they wanted here. Overall, this continues to be something that cause as many people to steer away. Could be the future, but right now, it continues to look like a scammer's paradise.
I heard the outro and thought I was having a stroke, lmao.
Yong had a seizure at the end
I guess the “hack-proof” blockchain isn’t so unhackable. What a bunch of hacks.
do u even know what a blockchain is or how many different types there are? not all of them are the same lol
Ah man if only everyone listened to you... I'm sure you'll have bitcoin cracked and hacked soon and rolling in money
This game is very, very popular in the Philippines, no joke; my relatives even wanted to force me to play this game but seeing NFTs being controversial, I kinda avoided it.
Seems you made the right call.
Yep people are making a living from it there
"Our platform got hacked and we lost a lot of your money"
"We're disallowing you to sell your NFTs so you can't get out while the price is still high"
wow youtube real freaking dumb giving me an ad for nfts on a vid about how nfts are rife with hackers like seriously did you even try to place that ad properly?
And to be further updated on all news… lol I thought my phone glitched but instead it was only you 😂😂😂
NFT Bros can't stop taking L's lol.
Once again, good triumphs over evil.
The enemy of my enemy is my temporary ally, but he's still evil.
You have a pretty messed up moral compass. They did this out of pure self interest and the money that was 'scammed' (aka freely and legally exchanged likely from naive and ignorant customers but still...) isn't going back to the people who paid it. lmfao
@@MundaneThingsBackwards good, that should teach them not to put their life savings all into a game in an attempt to just get rich quick.

anyone that gets into scams like this and get burnt should know better.
Axie Infinity was hardly a game. It was just a method of making money. Nobody played it for fun, it was the money involved. I'm pretty sure games are meant to be entertaining.
The feels of axie/P2E community is also different. Everything is going serious because in the end, it's all about money.
True, I was a scholar for two weeks and I have say, the game is not fun at all.
A lot of players from other places (like Asia) never treated this as a game but a job that pays them...
