- In this lesson, I will show you how to mute a note using your left hand or the hand that is on the neck of the bass. Muting notes is just as important as plucking notes, making for cleaner bass playing. Practice plucking each open string and then muting the note with you neck hand. Try making very short notes all the way up to longer notes.
I have had a problem with muting a note while freting but after a while I understood that I just need to really lift my left hand very slightly so I do not actually release the string but only release the tension that pushes the string to the fretboard so the string is still touching my finger and THAT makes it muted, but it no longer sits on the fretboard. It made me gigle a little when I figured it out because, you know...It is like, you release the string, but not really LOL. Just release the tension. Good lesson by the way. You still give advices to beginners like me even after a couple years. Good job.
Hi, thank you for some great content. In my opinion, you need to eq the sound of your videos a little, because every time the bass is fretted, it comes out very loud in my speakers, compared to the speaking volume (I've checked my own eq settings). Maybe you've improved in the newer uploads, just wanted you to know.
are those Dimarzio pickups?
I cant get the note to stop at all with my left hand :(
I do it with my head. Works well and looks entertaining.
Use the flat of the index finger side of your hand. That usually helps. If your bass keeps making ringing noises, just get a fret wrap. Those take out most of the sympathetic ringing sounds. Or just put some felt around the nut area.
I can't do it 😢
Just takes practice. Keep practicing
@@CenterStageGuitar ok I will
@@hotspace7236 can you do it yet?
