  • Today we're working on a kid's bike, a Yamaha TTR50 with electrci start. It was not running great, barely started and wasn't idling. These are pretty easy to work on, so don't be afraid to take a shot at it yourself rather than spending big dollars at the dealership.

👍 That little thing is a tricky one! I never see that thing doing its job with a floater cooperating! WOW.

I ended up working on a second little Yamaha like this a couple days after I got this one done. Was easy the second time.

Sweet start up sound. Some special battery for a little TTR, hmmm. Ive been going with those lithium batteries and doing good for a few years now. The old wet batteries on the dubs seem to only last a year in the desert heat and make a powdery mess at the terminals.

This battery almost resembles the ones on the power wheels electric kids cars. I had a few bad incidents with lithium’s, worked perfectly to start in the morning and then dead in the afternoon.

@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures When I bought my '21 dub, dealer wrote in lifetime battery replacement, cost $425. Pissed me off a bit cause never asked for it, didn't want it, they barked about EPA requires it now. Sure. but I'm bringing the old battery back for replacement however its been used. To buy them, they are about $25

@@Vitaliy-zx1nz thank you. I was just messing with that bike a bit today. Got new tires for the trailer and was getting the lights figured out. Planning a trip in a few months.

Addie is almost 3. That bike looks about almost right. My '09 Dub carb seems to be gummed, Gonna work on it today. Still got a 225 motor in the San Diego office for the TW upgrade waiting a rebuild...

@@ray77j I also have a 225 engine and a bunch of 250cc big bore parts. I have to get the solid information on what needs to be done on the transmission shaft to make it work with the TW.
