@@sebg2086 Well, for the most part there ain't! It's been very rare since this millennium 😢 And it's NOT memorable 'cos it's been played billions of times, it's memorable because it IS memorable and a killer solo! @@sebg2086 No! Lol, I just explained it!! But to clarify, it's memorable 'cos it's melodic! Out of all the killer guitarists out there maybe 10% can write memorable solos. And lol, I never said all modern music is djent, ha! I literally only used it as an example of all the crap out there.
When I was camping in Cornwall a couple of years ago, the campsite had the local brass-band in for entertainment one night. They closed with a rendition of this tune and they played this solo on the fucking horns - it was bloody incredible. Also, I highly recommend periodically texting or emailing people "Ha ha, you now have The Final Countdown in your head", because they will once they read your message.
My Grandpa who has been an avid metal head since the 60’s loves Europe. He always tells me how good their guitarist is. We saw them at Wacken in 2015 with Savatage. One day I hope to see a Taj video from you.
My dad had this vhs mixtape of like basically crazy music stuff back in the 90s and John Norum playing flight of the bumblebee was like the climax of the whole tape. Super underrated guitarist
The first non Final Countdown Europe song I heard was "In the Future to Come", which is a great track from their first album, more NWOBHM style than later
@MaximusAdonicus Yeah, I didn't say it was bad or cheesy when it came out. At that time, it was epic. Just the style didn't age well, and neither did that specific synth patch.
@@aaizner847 Am I? 🤔 Your og comment sounded dismissive to which I replied. To ur clarifying 2nd comment I replied that regardless of how You feel (about any of it), it IS still a great song (as defined by pure songwriting, it's literally perfection). Also I should add that their style of music is still alive and well on labels like Frontiers Records: almost their entire roster is AOR/80's hair rock resurgence with often big keys 😃
The best version of this song's solo is and will always be GIGATRON "Te peto el cacas". Whoever hasn't heard it should do themselves a favor and change their life forever by listening to this incredible solo.
there was a recent video from ola englund, where he's picking amps to take on tour. one of the amps he tries is a marshall with a kee marcello mod - possibly the best sounding marshall i've heard.
Oh, man, thanks for this video. Europe is one of my all time favourite bands. They have an excellent catalogue, and tbh, their post-2000 albums are much-much more epic than their 80'-s stuff.
I hated Europe back in the day because I was a close minded teenager and all about thrash. It took the Hot Rod soundtrack (15-20 years later) and it's heaping pile of Europe and John Norum to remind me that I was, in fact; dumb. Dude's skills are legendary \m/
At Sonishpere 2010, me, my brother and a mate met up to watch Europe, just to hear Final Countdown, yeah, casuals. During the second or third bar of the intro, two drunkards started fighting. We got a live soundtrack to classic British loutishness. It was amazing.
It's a classic solo alright. I tried to learn it in the 1990s from tabs in a guitar magazine. I was still a novice at guitar and so I gave up because it was too hard.
Why do I never hear people talking about how damn hard this solo goes?? What a classic
(It's The Final Countdown by Europe if you somehow don't know)
It's bloody awesome! Quite the underrated guitarist that John Norum fellow.
This song will be a banger forever, don't matter how much you listen to it, you never gets tired
Stormwind's solo is pure fire, too 🔥🎸🔥
Probably because its not that good
@@bt3743wrong + L + ratio
This exactly how I remember the solo, especially the sweeping part.
This should be a series
Maybe it should! 👀
@@BradleyHallGuitar It will be! xD
With this song in every episode
@@BradleyHallGuitarplease🙏♥️
I second that
Europe's guitar work is absolutely underrated. A bit sad this is the only one most people appreciate
Everything Kee Marcello did on their album 'Out Of This World' was superb. Even if you missed John Norum, Kee was amazing.
The whole album is sooooo good
Hot Rod let me know how fire this album is.
CHEROKEEEE!
Was 11 back then. It still kicks ass. 🤘

OH DID YOU NOW
@@BradleyHallGuitar I promise Beanley 😂
same mainly because of your comment about it on the live stream
Lol
I saw the hand position and "classic" in the title and thought the same thing
No one who grew up in the 80’s forgets this song.
The final countdown Is legendary
you know its a good solo when you recognize the solo before the song
The final sweepdown
Bro this was my jam at 5, I did indeed forget how cool this song is
The times when guitar solos ware melodic, memorable and tasteful. Damn amazing solo.
as if theres no more melodic....memorable solo now lol..........its memorable because the song play 6 billion time on the radio lol

I didn't forget. In fact, a few months ago I bought Europe's greatest hits on CD. They fucking rock.
John Norum is a really great and underrated guitarist.
Not for me, he and kee are in my top 10. I began to play guitar in the early 90’s because of guitarists like them
Even Yngwie loves Norum.

I always felt this way about "turn up the radio" by Autograph too
Este es el solo que me inspiró a ser guitarrista, recuerdo la primera vez que lo escuché, con 7/8 años y como me obsesione con esta canción.
John Norum is a vastly underrated guitarist. Scream of Anger goes so hard.
I've never forgotten how sick John Norum is
Have you forgotten how sick Jason Becker is tho?
Okay that was bad. I'm getting _used_ coal for Christmas
This was my favourite guitar solo as a kid... And still is. ❤
Metal/Rock Fans HAVE to know Europe, they are a absolut classic band.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

That solo is just awesome.
You did that Peter Cushing magni eye stunt and for that alone I totally dig that.
Dude, that's the rock solo literally everyone loves!
such a good song
The first non Final Countdown Europe song I heard was "In the Future to Come", which is a great track from their first album, more NWOBHM style than later
That sweep picking part is so iconic, I love it so much. 😁
This has always been one of my favorite songs! Love The Final Countdown!
This whole album has some very nice solos.
I love the original solo, love the Norther cover, but your rendition is amazing!
Thank you Beanley and cheers from France! 🍻
And to think, this isn't even their best work. And this is THIS GOOD.
Beany the past 2 years I think you've got even better. Your creativity is off the charts 🤘🏻
The final countdown will and always stays a classic one 👍🤘
Yay, bradley reverting back to guitar content, as it should be.
That solo's sickness is making up for that keyboard riff's cheesiness.
That "cheesiness" made that keyboard riff probably the most iconic and memorable riff besides "Jump"!! Also sold millions.

TL Note: "Te peto el cacas" means "I break your ass"
really underrated band tbh
Sick guitar , sick guitar player , sick solo , sick song , sick band , sick this , sick that
Europe's guitarist is so underrated, he doesn't even make the 'most underrated guitarist' lists.
I recognized it so Approved! I can recommend some Gary Moore songs also, and I am not talking about Parisienne walkways only.

The solo in "the ninja" is sick too.
Superstitious and coast to coast for me are one of the best 80s solos
It's awesome how you kept it super simple

Boston: More than a Feeling.... maybe the best song ever
Here's an idea for a series: you can practice a solo for 60 minutes, but you can only record it once, and you have to upload that take no matter what.
I recommend listening to their finnish fellows Treat, the song World of Promises slaps hard too
Now this song is stuck in my head for another week. THANKSAWHOLELAWT
I forgot how F***KING SICK you are at guitar! Nice, dude!

I find that whole album to be great but that riff is the best part
That whole band is criminally underrated. They are so much more than that one cheesy song
Guthrie's proud of you, he'd probably play it just like that.
