    The more basic it is, the more appealing I found it. I also like that at that time Casio used to use good materials like full metal body instead of the painted plastic they're using on their modern watches.

    Haha the case is like a reverse G shock which is usually steel inner core and plastic resin outside . Lovely watch though

    How ironic to have your same watch back! Thank goodness it has been so well preserved….hard to believe it’s from 1980 and still looks wonderful…. congratulations😃

      yes its nice, i checked my records, and its almost to the day that he bought it from me 2 years ago. he should have contacted me to buy it back, but he placed it on auction and lost 100 pounds on it. he should have made £100 as these have gone up

    I love this watch! I have an affliction (collector’s disease) for anything vintage in original mint condition. The original tags and receipts make it even more attractive! Thanks for sharing!
    Also, if you ever need someone to whom you’d like to bequeath your collection that would appreciate every piece and give them all a good home, I’m happy to send you my information! Lol

    I hope for a reissue of that super-basic watch. It will retain the original design but can add in backlight, stopwatch, alarm, and timer (optional).

      maybe. just think casio are out of touch, they never use to be.

    Functionally, this one reminds me of the late 70s / early 80s single and double digit F type Casios (e.g. F-7, F-11), but with the stainless steel outer shell and bracelet. Very nice. One of those simple watches that tells you all you need to know at a glance.

    Casio made a few models with cases like this in the late 70s. I think is a plastic case with a thin layer of stamped out stainless steel over the top, similar to the 50QS and 52QS. Good because it wont corrode or wear like the later chrome plated cases.

    Or8 m8 my casio hotbiz with the navigation pad is built similar to that with metal over plastic so they must have done it for a few years and yes it's strange but it does make them quite light. Love your new watches m8 my dad has one just like it worn through to the brass! Awesome videos m8!

    I have this exact model in mint condition, it's simple but classier than many of my Casios. Not quite a marlin, but still really nice.

    That thing is great, there's no other word. That's the essence of what the watch should be, to show you what's the time is it? I would say it was really advanced at the time, that was a space shuttle, it's able even to show you the day 😀😀😀
    After so many decades it works perfectly, that's enough to say I think
    good video

    Very nice piece like all the vintage casio that are made to last: two days ago I got a casio 56qs-38 and since it was 35 years old the legendary casio f-91w (japan)😅

    Why is the contrast on the old watches so great and the contrast on the new vintage retro Casio so weak and only strong from an oblique angle?

  • @DexterHR

    I don’t think it’s metal case since it says “stainless steel back” on a back. It probably metal plated like A168. But it’s gorgeous!

    Have Casios actually gone down in price over the last 40 years even when inflation is taken into account?

    • @ednammansfield8553
      @ednammansfield8553 6 днів тому

      They have gone up in price not down inline with inflation. A Casio A168 for example is between £33 to £40 today here in the UK in a jewellers but you may be able to get them cheaper with online options or in a sale which crop up. Argos usually have the best prices for certain models of Casio watches that they stock.

    • @Oldcasiocollector
      @Oldcasiocollector  6 днів тому

      i dont know a single item that have gone down in price. companies exist to make money, so they will always go up. Especially a renowned company like Casio

    • @danielfrancis3660
      @danielfrancis3660 6 днів тому

      The reason I asked the question was that the Ratners receipt had approximately £20 on it and this is equivalent to £80 in 2024. You quoted a watch price of £33 today hence my question.

      @Oldcasiocollector  7 днів тому

      oh ok, they may have made a few types. if the lcd screen in black (if thats what you mean) sounds like screen bleed

    • @Flanneryshanedward
      @Flanneryshanedward 7 днів тому

      @@Oldcasiocollector they glass surround is black and grey. The lcd is fine just not working with a new battery. Have to take the back metal case off to get at the battery.
