Kristin and Jeremy are incredible, but Kate Lott, the descant soprano, is truly something remarkable. I've worked with her at Epcot in the Voices of Liberty and her voice just will not quit. Those notes aren't easy- there's only a handful of people in the world that can make them sound so effortless-and she never sounds screechy. Unbelievable.
Kate’s voice is truly a gift. She has the most beautiful modulation and control over her instrument. Singing those ultra high notes so softly and sweetly is not easy, yet she carries it off effortlessly every time. That’s God given talent and wonderful technique.
Kirstie and Jeremy's reactions, both in the absolute beginning and at the soprano, say what the rest of us also hear. These people can sing! I'm not that into Disney love songs, but with this fantastic arrangement and such talented people singing, i have to surrender..completely. ..and this clip simply makes me happy. I bet Kirstie and Jeremy has heard their fair share of brilliant singers. Love seeing them get all giddy :-)
What a fantastic awesome privilege it would have been to participate in this work, and to work with Kristin Maldonado would be awesome experience! Her voice is amazing!
I love watching both Kirsten and Jeremy, both amazing vocalists in their own right just be awestruck. The raw power of making music together. These two groups need to collaborate more!
I'm crying. Bless you people and thank for living in this generation. We are so lucky to have you in this lifetime. Thank you Voctave, thank you so much.
omg each of their individual voices are amazing. I want to be a tenor but I suck. Listening to this point of view highlights the tenor parts too and their tenors are simply amazing.
I'm not sure there are notes high enough for her to need a falsetto. I mean at the end of the full song she sang a note just one octave below the highest note on the piano.
Don't you just know they absolutely love doing what they do. To be able to open your mouth and have notes come out like that is just stunning and totally awesome.
How about a video tracking a song from the very first run-through to the final recording? It would be fascinating to watch the process. I’ve NEVER been so awestruck by human voices and while the final recordings of this group are incredibly well-engineered, this short video gives a tiny bit of insight of how truly world-class these singers are without running the voices through the many signal processors used in studios. Show us what its like from the first time Jamie hands out the charts and they sight read it.
We just saw Voctave in concert. For the encore, they came to the front of the stage and sang with out any amplification at all, just them. They are every bit as good as you think! What was truly impressive was that ALL parts, including the low bass, could be clearly heard in a 1,900 seat auditorium.
Got to admit that I often wondered how guest vocalists react when they were put in with Voctave on a song. This just a glimpse and it's pretty much as expected. Would love to see more like this.
I wasn't gonna comment but since I've rewound the video literally 25 times since I found it I figured it warranted a comment. And every time, wether it's recorded or live practice, that one note makes me tear up.
This is great! I was just wondering: how were they feeling when they first heard that this was going to be so amazing. Jeremy Lewis is awesome: you see him enjoying working with these amazing people and smiling in awe in response to the voices of the other singers. This is what makes music great! You all deserve a lot of respect! Wow!
I like the fact that a simple practice showing somehow gives more credibility and kudos to the main feature knowing full well it is only tweaked and not fully sound engineered. Big thumbs up
Why "providing background", they are Voctave and they are featuring Jeremy and Kirstie as guest singers! In the arrangement there are moments when the ensemble is leading and the soloists are responding. It's not a run-of-the mill pop duo with session musicians as backing vocals.
Can you imagine hearing that in person. I once got to hear one of the best euphonium players in the world play, and my brain kept saying " there is no way that sound can be coming out of a small tuba".
This. Part of what makes them so world-class is how they work together. No one is putting their voice forward over the others. They seem to breathe, and attack and release notes, all in accord. And make it seem easy. It's not easy! They are just that good.
the first soprano is holding my entire life on that one note.
I've never heard high notes like that delivered with such ease and grace. Kate Lott has a gift.
And well nourished through Bel Canto training.
haahahah yeah I share the same feeling.

LMAO old comment but so perfect.
love how kirstie and jeremy have the exact same reaction to the soprano as i did... just can't
+Toby Curtis then they all laughed in harmony lol like damn their all too perfect
+Toby Curtis nice to know that I'm not the only one
Who wouldn't be? I got excited 😆😆
The fact that it still sounds SO DAMN GOOD actually live as opposed to being recorded is freaking insane. How is everyone here so talented?
+Meeeeeeeegaan Musicianship! Hard work!
That shit pays off!
it called musically inclide
The same way you get to Carnegie Hall! ;)
@@Meegaan r
HAHHAHH jeremy and kirstie freaking out at 1:22 at the high note
+Steven Lee Oh my gosh, Yes!!
I think we all did haha
That soprano life goals, wow!!!
+Steven Lee who wouldn't lol she hit the note perfectly it felt like when I got my ear pierced
her name is Kate Lott
That moment when the two leads realize the background is better than they are

There are very few people in any field that are truly transcendent,, but we just experienced one.
OK after listening to this 75 times and getting over "Kate shock" as best I can,,, they are all transcendent.
They are all amazing! makes me miss singing in a group.
Loved the picture of your profile account! My favorite actress!

That Soprano @1:14 one of the purest notes I've heard.
Yes!
Kate Lott.
@@billiejoetoe She is a space alien from the planet Soprano.
@@williamgreene4834 True! I am a soprano, but not a high, high one. She executes her upper notes so well. I admire and look up to her. :)
@@billiejoetoe so you are a mezzo - soprano?
The sopranos sound EXACTLY THE SAME as the audio track!!!
When that amazing soprano kicks in .... Sorry... No one escapes the awe!
that high note though!
1:16 the speed of her vibrato is PERFECT
The whole group can sync their vibrato which is truly stunning.
@@kimii2243 There is lol! You can hear the oscillation in pitch! LOL
She's perfect
@@kimii2243 there is
The leader of the group has 3 Gold Medals in the Barber Shop Quartet world on 2 different parts. All the singers are what we call "world class."
that explains it sounding like heaven, haha
which one is the leader?
Avin Kesuma at the beginning of the video you can see his left ear. He is to the left of Kate
Tony is not the leader of the group. He is conducting but he is not the leader or arranger. Jamey Ray is
Jamey Ray is the arranger, Tony DeRosa is the director. Says so on their website.

I love how Jeremy is so fascinated at what those people can do! And his reaction is just ugh 😍
Damn.. And that's just the rehearsal!
At 1:37 - ".. and we just keep singing. We're so bored with it." 7 years later, and this still makes me smile every time I watch it.
Are u kidding me???
They sound exacly the same that in the recording!!!
Jesus christ, how good are these people!
Someone can think it´s edting voices on the recording lol
She hit the high note like a boss
And she did it seemingly effortlessly like she could do it in her sleep and it's incredible :D
That soprano blows my mind EVERY time. 👏🏻👏🏻
wish the camera caught their reaction when the high note hit from the start. Do you haven anymore behind the scenes..these are cool
No, that's all there is
@@klararomanova6249 doggone, I so wish for more spontaneous takes like this...
1:21 same reaction that I had!! Years later and I still get chills when Kate Lott sings
Their reactions at one another's talent are SO sweet. There's nothing like that feeling of pure joy, singing with super talented people.
I love how all of them look to the first soprano before she sings the Eb! They're all so talented!
jeremy's face when kirstie started singing :3
It's probably the choir, tbh.
The 2 kids are overwhelmed with beauty of the voices surroungding them..😍😍
Jeremy was like,"I'm sorry.. I can't. I'm stupid." LOL
"It's too good."
This is an old comment, but in case anyone was browsing (like me) I thought this could be helpful.
My favorite part of this is that Kate Lott's voice is still so pure, unstrained, and beautiful in that high range. So beautiful!
How casually Kate is singing her part and Jeremy and Kristin were blown away!
Wwwwwwwww, I'm literally speechless! That soprano omg wow all the feels just crazy talent!!!!!!!!!!!!
I must find that soprano...and marry her.
Her name is Kate Lott and she is spectacular!
She's already married, sorry!

Get a voice teacher! Idk what you've done since it's been 3 years since this, but a teacher can help you a lot.
@@billiejoetoe i took a couple of lessons but ive kept practicing since then, i would say ive become decent :) especially head voice
Every time I hear that high note it freaking knocks me off my seat!!! Dear Lord!!! That was angelic and goosebumps everywhere for real lol

I bet if that soprano hits a falceto 1:15 high note she could shatter a house, stop pacemakers, and set off car alarms all at once!
Midori Dad cabbage
if she sang the whistle note riff from Mariah Carey's Emotions she would probably explode the earth
