Once I learned your code phrase, it made it easier to work, i.e. “this part is fun” means “this part is a pain in the a**! 🤣 I’m glad my wife bought this for me as my first attempt. She’s learning how many cuss words I know!
It's a nice touch that there is a ascent engine buried within the model, even if it cannot be seen when the model is completed. I am building this model right now and seeing if it is possible to build it so the ascent and descent stages can be separated.
My first model was two days ago, the Apollo CSM and LEM, then I did my second one this morning which was the Saturn V, and I guess tomorrow I will do the Lunar Module. Your video's help a whole lot lol!
Hey brother. Thanks for this video. I just completed my build on the Lunar Module. It certainly has some mistakes, only 2 spots of superglue, but its good enough to display with pride. I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to make it past step 1 without help from your demonstration. I wish you well on your future builds and the New Year!
I noticed on yours that the retro rockets and the deflector shield didn't match up. When I put mine together I noticed that the same thing happened. But what really bothered me was that the landing and the entrance/exit door didn't match up, … the same thing on mine. Glad to know that it wasn't me.. it was the model. I would suggest that section #1 should be folded over when you are ready to attach section #16 and #19 because for me, both large folded parts broke off because I was fiddling with the other parts that I was attaching. I used masking tape to hold it together and then used a hot glue gun on the inside to hold it together. Worked like a charm and was then solid as a rock.
I just bought this very model (January 2022) as my fist model. I was stricken by Covid-19 and forced to be at home. I’d already done so many mistakes and some pieces just fell apart that I put together with a needle glue applicator. I also have tools to assemble watches. I decided to order a second one just in case I broke or lost any item, but I feel determined to finish it. Wish me luck!!
I commend you, friend, and I even gave you a thumbs up, but I don't think I have the patience for this particular build. Oddly enough, I am a very patient person and I am good with things like this normally, but there is something about this particular project that is unsettling for me. Perhaps it was the frustration you spoke about at the end of the video, or maybe the conflicts in the instructions, who knows for sure, but this project was definitely not inviting. Maybe I will give this lander a shot someday, but right now, I think that I would rather watch you build it!
There is a newer version of this model with the CSM that I want to do but I too am a little nervous about tackling this again. That being said I have enough experience to likely do a better job now.
So what direction DOES piece 2 go? I'm thinking engraved side facing up (on finished model, normal orientation), on the inside of the funnel? I found, for bending piece 2 into a cone shape, pressing it with a metal pen tip, into slightly compressible mat material, worked good.
It feels like forever since I build this model. I like your idea of using a pen tip. Since this build I have designed 3d printed tools to help make cone shapes. One day I will have to try this model again, or maybe the CSM model.
Hey I just built a similar model that includes the CSM with brass colored parts and love it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with it. It does come together but there are some voids between pieces that irked me.
so im in the middle of this build and id like to suggest to everyone WAIT UNTIL THE VERY END TO PUT ALL 4 PARTS THAT ARE LABELED NUMBERED 7! YOU WILL CONSTANTLY BE CRUSHING THEM OUT OF SHAPE WHILE BUILDING IT. if you want to shape the parts as you are going along following the directions so you dont forget about them that is fine but save yourself the hassle from bending them out of shape. i believe parts number 3 also can wait till the very end.... #metalsplintersareawful
I had to buy two kits to make one the instructions are confusing and some of tab slots are not sized enough and if you bend the pieces to much they break and when finished a section it wouldn't line up straight mine has no roof due to breaking
Hello. I'm just discovering the Metal Earth models. Could you provide amazon links to the various tools you use ? I'm sure that would help me a lot to start with the good ones first. All the best. Very impressive !
You could submit a request to the company's web site. I was asking a question about part 2, and the actually offered to send me replacement parts (I assume they would just send one or both of the sheets). Give it a try!
Yep, I agree. I didn't realize that those two folds on top where bent at two 90 degree angles and thought it followed the shape of the top of the craft. That's when the two parts broke because I was forcing it … watched the end of this video to figure out what went wrong and got out the hot glue gun and make it all work. yep.. part 5 sucked!~ but I finished it and it looks cool now. 😎
Laughed out loud when you caught yourself saying "fabulous". I used that word in 1999 during a talk with a new client and it took me 10 years to convince him I wasn't gay ... not that there's anything wrong with that.

Nice work! I just bought this kit and can't wait to wreck it.......😬
Really beautiful, looks better than plastic kits.

danny Thank you. Happy new year to you!

I will try it now too ,i just hope i have the nervs for this hobby. Thank you for this Video!
Amazing model.
Thanks for sharing the process.

no frickin' way - you did a great job

That was Fabulous . Thanks 😀
Thanks for the video. Fabulous 😂
…It’s looks more realistic than the original, made of “ Cardboard and foil paper “….😮
actually so helpful thank you 🙏

Not a bad idea.
I had to buy two kits to make one
the instructions are confusing
and some of tab slots
are not sized enough
and if you bend the pieces to much they break
and when finished a section
it wouldn't line up straight
mine has no roof due to breaking
Simply amazing!! I'm planning to begin with a less difficult model. Do you think that the Hubble Space Telescope it's a good choice? Thanks
For space related models, the Hubble is a better choice to start with than probably any other it is still a little bit of a challenging model however.
@@animateorange Ok, I like challenges ;-). Thanks for your answer and for your videos. I'm pretty sure I've just found a new hobby!!
Do you have the raw video for me? Im working on it. Its a pain in the ass. Nice work!
I do have the original clips of the build. It would take me a little time to dig it up and put the clips together.

Very impressive !
In my latest 3d Metal Model news video I talked a little about some of my tools and included some amazon links in the description.
Have you done the Saturn v?
I have not.
animateorange I requested you to build it I just build mine it’s very interesting built
My folding peace broke😲
Rafael Brady Get a soldering gun and some soldering wire to fix it

Don't worry - 'fabulous' is still in the English vocab. :)
Part 5 is a nightmare! What did you view online to help??
Perhaps the 360 view could help? www.metalearth.com/360/MMS078

did he just used green screen to view a normal room?
Space Nations yes, I did.
mine broke...
I hate it when that happens. Contact Metal Earth and see about free replacement parts. They are good about that. www.metalearth.com
Its better to use cardboard & silver foil
That's an excellent idea.
I have these
They break :(

whenever I see a human with a ring nose I wonder...
Wonder what? *Hangs on edge of seat*
hdckdsadd finish
The side broke of mine… waste of money!
