- Driving Downtown - Seattle Washington USA - Season 1 Episode 17.
Starting Point: Pine St goo.gl/maps/Zy... .
Seattle is a West Coast seaport city and the seat of King County. With an estimated 662,400 residents as of 2015,[2] Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America, and, as of July 2013, is the fastest-growing major city in the United States.[6] The Seattle metropolitan area of around 3.6 million inhabitants is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States.[7] The city is situated on a narrow isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada-United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the 8th largest port in the United States and 9th largest in North America in terms of container handling.[8]
The Seattle area was previously inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers.[9] Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851.[10] The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named "Seattle" in 1852, after Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.
Logging was Seattle's first major industry, but by the late 19th century the city had become a commercial and shipbuilding center as a gateway to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. By 1910, Seattle was one of the 25 largest cities in the country.[11] However, the Great Depression severely damaged the city's economy. Growth returned during and after World War II, due partially to the local Boeing company, which established Seattle as a center for aircraft manufacturing. The Seattle area developed as a technology center beginning in the 1980s, with companies like Microsoft becoming established in the region. In 1994 the Internet retail giant Amazon was founded in Seattle. The stream of new software, biotechnology, and Internet companies led to an economic revival, which increased the city's population by almost 50,000 between 1990 and 2000.
Seattle has a noteworthy musical history. From 1918 to 1951, there were nearly two dozen jazz nightclubs along Jackson Street, from the current Chinatown/International District, to the Central District. The jazz scene developed the early careers of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson and others. Seattle is also the birthplace of rock musician Jimi Hendrix and the alternative rock style grunge.[12]

Thank you for not putting music over this.
How about Detroit?
J Utah also New Orleans
I'd like see it from the air
@@michaeljames8218 yeah I'm agree with you .. I like more hear the environment sound .. I'm feel Seattle .. it could be another city too .. not put music only to discard some bad noise it's acceptable ..
I miss Seattle. It's the greatest combination of jobs, city, and nature.
Well said!
aka Northern Europe in a little worse? hehe xd
I miss it, too. Let's move back someday.
Ricky Stafford same
That's very true! I miss Seattle too. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Thanks for putting the original audio and not putting a shitting instrumental over it
I wouldn't mind music if it was old music and not the generic musical style (ukulele, bells, whisting, etc.) that's trending these days.
I live in Europe but have been a mad Seattle fan for the last year and it is top of my list of dream destinations by a wide margin. Can't quite explain why but there's just something about this city which really holds my heart.
what is the name of this thidworld she tole you hail from
Just came back from a trip there, I can honestly tell you the city looks a disaster. We traveled to many places and although the skyscrapers and landscapes look amazing, homelessness, drug abuse and mental illness is a big issue and it shows especially at night
@@juanbeltran8432 Dystopian wasteland, got it. Tbh I have cooled a bit on the city since I wrote the original content
Lived in Seattle for 7 years and moved out for good last year. this vid brings back a lot of memories. Thank you
I would never have imagined that Seattle is such a beautiful city! Definitely on my to-do list.
It really is!
@@jutah Wow, that's awesome!
Live there for 26 years. I am cranking up Heart in my headphones and watching this. I miss Seattle.
this is the most american thing i've watched. Idk why but i get this exciting feeling like im experiencing real urban america while watching this. Truly magnificent.
why this is the most american thing to you? I'm from Seattle so and I don't really see it that way compared to places like new york or chicago. I'm interested in your perspective.
My wife and I visited Seattle for our 20th anniversary in the beginning of July 2013 (no rain weather for 10 days)!
We had never been to the Pacific northwest and having done our research Seattle seemed the perfect combination of nature, famous venues, shops, food, art, varied neighborhoods, COFFEE, "flying" fish and world class architecture.
And we saw A LOT!
One of the destination sites was the Seattle Central Library designed by Rem Koolhaas in 2004 (at 15:40, 30:50 you'll see glimpses on the right-hand side of your screen). An iconic internationally renowned structure. My wife was a librarian and I studied some architecture in college. Look it up. Unbelievable! We spent a half a day there. Fascinating!
Excellent video! We walked in and around some of places you drove past. THANK YOU FOR THE NO MUSIC, NATURAL SOUND background!
Glad we visited when we were able as the neighborhood "vibe" has had some changes since.
Everybody else clogs up their city touring videos with themselves. Thanks for showing the actual city.
Amazing. My city Auckland is like a mini version of Seattle: the low rise buildings, the trees and even the terrain is very similar.
I live in Seattle but I think I wanna move to Auckland New Zealand when I'm older but ill have to visit there first

Best city in the world. Architecture, nature and ambient. All combination in perfect harmony.
Come on...
Lived there for 25 years but left in '06 - Enjoyed seeing the sights again!
This brought back a great many memories of my youth growing up in Seattle. Thanks for posting it.
Glad you liked it!!
I would love to visit Seattle one day. Greetings from The Highlands! 🏴🏴🏴🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

In my humble opinion one of the most livable cities in the world ;)

@Jew Adolf how come?
@Jew Adolf thats basically every single city especially ny
Seattle is Amazing. Thanks for putting together this video!
Thanks for the great video. Used to hang out in downtown Seattle back in the 80s. The kingdom now gone. Really miss this great city.
This is a really awesome video! Seattle is such a wonderful city. A lot of friendly people live here. I also love downtown Boston, NYC, Miami, Dallas, Chicago & on a smaller note, Key West. However, Seattle is by far, my favorite.
Thank you that’s very kind of you!
Hi Zan Kota I am from Turkey and I am planning to come America. Which city do you recommend?(Which city is better I want to live in the most natural city in America)
Good cities to move: portland, seattle, salt lake city, Minneapolis, austin or dallas, denver, Colorado springs, or washington dc. But i prefer canadian cities, but if you’re moving to us, the best place of all is portland. Weird people over there, but its beautiful
Zan Kota You have got to be kidding! Seattle is the most boring city ever! Downtown Seattle has absolutely nothing to offer...over crowded, hilly, cold, cloudy, and raining most days! It is just awful!
DYTCH72 and Portland is 10 times worse. In Portland people are either far left (antifa/rioters) or far right (confederate flags/racists) . There's no middle ground.
You must have driven in Downtown at 6:30 in the morning on Sunday?! The traffic in downtown Seattle is never like this during the week!
ua-cam.com/video/RuyUk4IUezE/v-deo.html
I knew when you drove past the Columbia Sports Wear store that this was an old video. As of 7 Oct 2020 it's been boarded up (due to the riots) and they along with many other businesses are not reopening in downtown, the crime rate has sky rocketed, the homeless problem is still very bad, it's not a good environment for business. It's quite a shame it was such a beautiful city I was thinking of moving there before all the 2020 troubles.
BS
Thanks! Very nice city.Greetings from Slovakia!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Greetings from the US!
A lot has changed in four years... make an updated one.
Really? How much? Probably my favourite city in the US for living there
Well, I'm choosing between this or Bellevue

WOW! wonderful town.High fives to you American.Greetings from Annaba Algeria.
The most beautiful city that I have ever visited in the U.S
Well said
Excellent video. I love Seattle and I love the way you have made the video without any music in the background. Very peaceful. Thanks
Moving here in a few short weeks. So excited. I've been dreaming of living in this city ever since I visited 3 years ago
id love to live there. Its got such great vibes....and the scenery is spectacular.
How is it? Are you all settled in? I’m thinking of moving there in April
@@kittygrowl839 its still great, kinda dead right now cause of the virus but its still great. only true negatives right now are the rent prices and it seems the homeless problem is still growing but hopefully they will start doing more to work on that soon. April should be a good time too, stuff should be opening back up and its when the weather/scenery starts getting really pretty so you will have a lot to do and see
Best Driving Record ever seen on here, incredible lence , perfect! thank you for sharing Seattle street views.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I have been missing Seattle in a long time!
12:05 just wow
Love your video!! makes me want to visit Seattle again.
+Alohaj7 Thank you! Any day in Seattle is a good day!
It's like I'm attached to the front of someone's car in my favorite city.
this was very therapeutic.
Interesting to hear - Thanks for the feedback :)
It's nothing like that on the weekdays....
Nice description that summarizes it for me. Wish I could live there and teach.
I just came back from visiting Seattle after 7 years of being away. It's crazy over crowded. Driving down town was worse than this video shows.
Chris J It truly is! This video was picked to film on an especially rare occasion. Traffic is terrible here and it’s way overcrowded.
Its only going to get worse, thanks to Amazon. Businesses need to start spreading out to Bellevue and Tacoma, way too many people commuting to work in Seattle.
And we need to favor public transit over roads, as well as having denser development (allow up to five stories anywhere in Seattle) so more people can live closer to work if they want to.
Chris J grew up in WA all my life, but studied abroad in London. London has way more people but it feels less crowded than Seattle.
We need to invest a lot in public transportation. Seattle has lots of potential.
KyleTVProductions because the areas are smaller in USA, for instance London in area size is twice the size of New York City, so nyc has more density within its area
One of my favorite cities. Want to go back. Its got such great boho vibes.
I figured it was late fall with the leaves and pedestrians wearing warm clothing.
Not many walking about.
We visited on our 20th anniversary 7/4/13 for 10 glorious days. NO RAIN!
I wondered if you were going to pass the Seattle Central Library, world class building designed by Rem Koolhaas and you did! Thanks!
When we were there in the summer Pike Place was very festive with all the blooming flowers and lots of people.
We enjoyed Seattle!

Lol Nooo. I was with my wife and my son.
She wont know. Bang some girls.
If you have ever spent a day in France, you would know why scoring with an american girl isn't at the top of his travel list.
My Seattle ... Oh God, I love this city.
This almost doesn't seem like Seattle, simply because the traffic looks really tame
It was probably 3:30PM on a Sunday in autumn.

NYC vibes but the mountain views wow
Seattle looks like a great city a city that I can't wait to visit one day
Super similar to Toronto. I love it.
Hmmmm...maybe more like Vancouver tho.
Toronto was great. No more
@@tantamount4341 you do realize im gay
This beautiful city deserves more videos
beautiful city hope I can visit one day😍 thanks for your video👏😉
Great idea. Nicely done - good sampling of the downtown streets. Would have been nice to have: 1) driven down Yessler from just west of Boren - beautiful views of the Smith Tower, Elliott Bay, and (if they're out - and it looks like they're not on this day) the Olympic Mountains, and 2) gotten up on the northbound viaduct (US 99 - just now closed and being razed), and 3) driven a bit further northbound along 4th Ave for a great view of the Space Needle.
Seeing this video I feel me walking on the street, other life, other air, other people, other vision of life, all different.
wow, great job! felt like I was there !
Thanks :)

Nostalgic video...❤️ thanks 🙏👍
I adore Seattle and visit as often as possible, and while this was indeed a real pleasure to watch, I kept hoping to see you turn down Pike Street so we could get a look at Pike Place Market or the Space Needle - two world famous Seattle icons. 😊
Don't forget the famous Fremont Troll!
J Utah! I missed you big guy. It's been so long...... Have a good one 👍 Christian Love Leonard in Toronto X00X You just made my day. I remember talking about your drives to Toronto and the US South. God bless you 🙏 ✝️🕊
Thanks for doing this. All the familiar places. Like the fact that the video is simple with no editing. Seattle is fantastic!
I’ve never been to Seattle but for some reason I’ve always been attracted to it i hope somehow someway i end up there
i lived there for 15 years so its nice to see these places again
I really love this video. Seattle reminds me so much of San Francisco, Ca.
+Mr. Michael I agree and thank you!! Hills and high rises right by the water!
And homeless people, and radical politics
Seattle is my favorite city in the united states and the Seattle Mariners baseball team and the Seattle Seahawks are my favorite teams.
Какой красивый город старые и современные дома какое сочетание, я восхищаюсь!! Хорошо видио снято!!! Спасибо!
It sure has a different feel than Denver and Los Ange6. There seems like a real sense of Season next to an Ocean. I went to The Seatlle Fish company to have Salmon. It is so breathe taking.
Thanks for the upload J Utah, I really enjoyed it. It looked as if it was a perfect picture day with the fall colors on the trees in the background.
I really enjoyed this video! I've walked to all of these places each time I visit! I wish he had went down to China Town Thou. I walked down there as well. I love walking around downtown Seattle!! Can't wait to do it again on my next visit!!
Gorgeous trees!
Thinking about moving out there from Cambridge. It’s pretty!
I also miss Seattle. Loved Washington State. Loved this video. Saw a lot of roads I use to drive. 34:41
That's my town. Nice job
Thanks Edward :) Beautiful city in a scenic part of the country!
Seattle look amazing!People who live there are lucky!
I was born there 💯
Next to Seattle
Really good job with this! I am from Seattle and miss it. Wish you would have driven on some of the bridges! :( But I always love your vids
Sat. morning drive about 7-8am I'm guessing. I grew up there, in Madison Park in the 70's and it only took 10 minutes to get to downtown up Madison St. That same trip, now takes over 45 minutes during the week days.
Awesome! Miss my home town.
live there 5 years back in the 90's , I miss Seattle 😭
its not the same anymore
You wouldn't even recognize it! It's gone to shit in the last ten years, so crowded, expensive and we have new homeless people coming here everyday from all over the country to camp out and set up tents downtown. It's a horrible mess! My family has lived her over 100 years and one by one we're all leaving. The 90's were the best, that's how I will remember Seattle!
agree with you , I visited Seattle last month and it felt different than last time I was there , everything is charged I use to live in Bellevue then moved to queen anne and people from there know what is Bellevue and queen anne use to be back in the 90's , but I still love the north west area had the best time in my life 😙
Seattle is a very different city now than it was in the 1990s.
bdh70 Thats what happens when u vote democrats into office
haha watching in 2019 and wow how many buildings have popped up since then!
I’ve been here, love it here, best place in the world even tho the people can be a bit rude and the weather can be a bit bad
It looks very similar to San Francisco and Oakland. Very nice video.
If I were asked"which city in the U.S. would you like to visit? I'd choose Seattle it seems quiet and peaceful,Nice 💫
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Iwant to write a story that set in Seattle and this video really help!
man seattle looks like a city that its nice people alot of jobs and like nature
Seattle is awesom
I lived here 72 of 73 years. It's changing now very suddenly with over 50 cranes building and city population is going up too. But crime is up and prices of homes are so high other cities nearby are getting more population growth too. The entire state seems to be seeing growth of a once secret place. I think population is now 730k one report said. We have rich businesses and two richest men in the world now. But I'm retired and one of the poorest.
You came really close to my old neighborhood - the Denny Triangle. Just west of the Convention Center, Paramount Theater and Convention Metro Tunnel. Missing Seattle. Thanks for the ride. ☺
Please upload another, except this time at NIGHT! :)
+Baazooka Joe Will try my best! Havent done a night video yet :)
+Baazooka Joe night call))
Baazooka Joe and where did you live?)
Everyone gangsit until night rolls around.
I have visited this city once. I wish I had more time to explore more further in depth about Seattle ( and man was that city a very cool & mind-blowing type of city to explore a little bit! ) but unfortunately me and another guy.....we didn't have that much time to explore the depths of the city considering we were traveling and on our way to a small town called Blaine. .....still within Washington.
Организация процесса строительства вызывает только восхищение! Это трудный процесс, ответственный требующий знаний, восхищаюсь!
I'm from Iowa and I'm going to visit Seattle in a month! But driving there seems a little stressful!
How was it?
Thanks for sharing my dear friend 🙏🙏🙏 on prepare to going Seattle home 🙏🙏🙏
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Really liked this. But a glaring omission was Pioneer Square!
Love it!
A lot of nice old buildings, as well as modern architecture, but what's going to stick in my mind? That giant tree at 12:10!
thanks for ride!
Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful city. I knew Seattle was a large city, but nothing like this. It has a density that reminds me of Chicago and Boston.
Boston maybe but Chicago is one of the largest populations in the US
