Omg this style is so cute. Your animations are getting so amazing. But you did a great job of covering the subject. It is really hard to cover important subjects. I remember that earthquake. It was so scary and just never forget it
Thanks for answering my question :3 I find it fascinating in a way that the people who have been in Christchurch when these horrible earthquakes happen, will never EVER turn away from their home. It just shows so much respect for the place they call home. Living up here in Auckland is calm and peaceful, but of course every city has their robberies and murders and awful things like that. I put all my love out there for anyone in need of it, even if they have no clue who I am. No one deserves to be unloved and should stay strong in any circumstance. And that is exactly what Christchurch is doing, they’re being knocked down by all these earthquakes but still getting back up to help their families, or in general, save their homes. This experience must’ve been terrifying for you. I have only been in the smallest aftershock, and that was when I was asleep, so there’s no possible way I can relate to this. But, I do remember that many primary schools in NZ were on full lockdown due to a bomb hoax. I was in my final year at primary, so the thought of seeing something being blown up that I’ve been with for 6 years is so scary. When they announced that the school was going in lockdown, 3 friends and I were working in a narrow area called our cloackbay but by then we had changed it to a library for people to work in. So my friends and I were there. Suddenly, the loud speaker goes on and says there’s a lockdown. We go through the procedures quite quickly in case it was a real one. Everyone was shrugging it off thinking that it was just a drill. (Because randomly in our school they’d do lockdown drills without warning to test our speed.) Anyway, everyone closed the curtains, turned off the lights and got underneath the tables. My friends and I still in that room that had one long skinny table we all had to hide under. Keep in mind that I was 1.7m at the time. So it was very hard to fit us all under, but we managed to do so. We then started playing games like say one word and then another will say one other word and so on to create a story. We laughed at the results. Something interrupted our laughter though, the loud speaker came on again. The lady said “This is not a drill.” And everyone fell silent. Our laughing faded as fear consumed us. Being the closest to the front door wasn’t a good feeling at all. All we could hear was the eerie, low pitched beep that continuously played to tell us we’re still not safe. We stayed there for about 10 minutes. The loud speaker comes on again. Telling everyone to get out onto the field immediately. Without hesitation, my friends and I raced out of the classroom to line up with our class on the field. Man, at the time I was so thankful that the year six area was so close to the field. Everyone started checking everyone’s names to make sure everyone was here. We all looked around to see POLICE CARS and a FIRE TRUCK on the field. The brigade was trying to clear things up and were searching the school left and right up and down to make sure no bomb was planted somewhere. After waiting on the field for an extremely long amount of time, we were told we could go back to class. Relieved that we were safe, no teacher told us what was going on. Later on after school my mum ran to me when I got to my house after walking home with my cousin. She was so worried because she and every parent got a text saying that they must pick up their child at the given time. I told my mum what happened and even she refused to tell me what was going on. I watched 1 News NZ that night and it said that OVER 30 Primary schools had been threatened with a bomb. What happened is that some idiot called the police, threatening to bomb 30 primaries in NZ. Obviously they did their job and did it right. That’s the scariest thing that has happened to me at school. I don’t really know how to end this. But it just shows that events like a fire, lockdown, tornado or earthquake can REALLY happen during school without any warning. So please, listen to all of the drills you get taught, don’t take any practise as a joke either. Love you Soda, it’s so good to hear you’re okay.
This brings back sad memories. I live in Auckland and l remember hearing about the earthquakes and a few of my family members actually went up to Christchurch and helped out but still... it’s a bad thing that happen and that is still a possibility:(
I find it really interesting when someone else tells their earthquake experience, I love hearing other people's stories. I was like 6 when the earthquakes happened, so I barely remember anything.
wow, I was like 6 yrs old during the earthquake and as soon as it struck i thought i was fainting and i ran into a pole. I then ran into my class and a bookcase fell over. I then went to the field and turns out our school was built on an underground river and became covered in liquefaction. Great times. It's cool to have a local UA-camr in my city :)
Where i live...we had a tornado and i was in the restroom washing my hands, and then...AAAAHHH ERICA WHERE ARE YOU!?! My teacher yelled...i was booking it out of the bathroom to see my classroom...evrything was off the shelves, one of my friends was under a shelf me and her hid and did that crab thing, after that we woke up (yes we napped) to evryone with scars on ther hands and my sister running and hugging me...ill never forget that day, My teachers husband was injured but hes ok now.... THATS WHY IM SCARED TO GO TO SCHOOL NOW :D
Never had one of those, but I did have a bomb threat. I remember it. We were at morning care, and something came on the loudspeaker. The teachers got us out of there. They said we were having a 'delay', but it soon became a full on cancelled day. I remember wondering if my parents would show up and being hungry (they didn't let us take our backpacks) and crying. My teacher gave me teddy grahms and I shared them with my ex-friend while she was lying (you can see why I'm not friends with her anymore). I drew Nyan Cat, then my aunt and grandfather showed up with my grandmother (all mom's side). They picked me and my brother up and we watched the Ellen DeGeneres Show for a while. That was 2015 or 2016.
I remember there was a time when I was about seven or eight and I was sitting on the floor in my room playing with lps, when all of a sudden I felt my house rock back and forth. It was so scary, and since I was on the floor I could feel the vibrations of the poles that support our house literally pulling back and forth. I thought the poles would give way and our whole house would fall apart; it was so scary. Luckily it was just an aftershock, though I can't even imagine having to live through a real full-blown earthquake.
i also live in chch i was also in primery school and i was so sceard my brother and i wher waiting for mum and we got so sceard of what if she dosent turn up. but just as we said that she was walking acrose the feld with my antie and my oldest brother. when we got home we found out about the bus that felll over and got desroyed and mum said that she was surpost to be on that bus. it mackes me think to this day what would have happend if she was on that bus and i had to spend the rest of my life with nana, and when the earthquake happend nanas home got desroyed. if mum was on that bus i never would have meet most of my amazing friends,i wouldent have a mum or a dad,but most of all i might have had no home. so just a reminder for peapol who hate thier family be thankfull for what you have. ps i know most of this is spelt wrong im not good at speeling
ok so for people who cant read this i will spell it for you i was also in primary school and i was so scared my brother and i were waiting for mom and we got so scared of what if she did not turn up but just as we said that she was walking across the field with my aunt and my oldest brother. when we got home we found out about the bus that fell over and got destroyed, mom said that she was supossed (idk how to spell it ethier) to be on that bus. it makes me think to this day what would have happened if she was on that bus and i had to spend the rest of my life with nana, and when the earthquake happened nanas home got destroyed. if mom was on that bus i never would have met most of my amazing friends, i wouldent have a mom or dad, but most of all i might of had no home. so just a reminder for people who hate there family be thankful of what you have ps: i know most of this i spelt wrong too but thas ok
I remember waking up one morning really early and the water on my drink bottle was shaking, at first, I was like w0t the heck but on the news, it said there was a teeny weenie earthquake out in the hills and there were even teenier weenier ones in the city. there are never earthquakes in Australia so I was really confused lol
There was a time where there were frequent earthquakes for 2 weeks where I am. They were weak most of the time, but on the last week, there was a friccin 6.9 MAGNITUDE QUAKE It was terrifying, and now I'm lowkey scared of showering in fear of a strong earthquake happening while I'm stuck there because of that :,)
I live in nz, and I really clearly remember seeing on the news all the footage, and Man I was so scared. I lived in Auckland at the time, but we have family that run a farm down in Christchurch and I was really worried for them. I think either last year or the year before I remember all over NZ there were a bunch of little earthquakes, and one of them happened in Hamilton (where I live now). I remember my mum came running into my room, because half of our house in on stilts, and my room is one of the only rooms fully on the ground. Even that little was was really scary, so I can imagine how awful experiencing that massive one was.
Once I was sick and my family and neighbours were outside then I heard a boom and things fell down of table and shelves I was about five and started crying because everything was shaking my parents didn't feel or hear a thing
dang this gives me a lot of memories when i heard of the earthquakes happening. i don't really remember how young i was when it happened but i was really terrified since most of my family on my mother's side live there. luckily they were ok but it's still really sad to hear that a lot of others didn't survive it when it happened. i did end up experiencing one of the aftershocks when i went to christchurch to visit my grandparents. i was really young then and didn't really take to much of it though. i don't remember much but all i do remember was when my dad and grandad were bringing in a new tv to my grandparent's house and struggling not to drop it during the aftershock. it's actually quite interesting to hear someone who has experienced the christchurch earthquake mention their story on it. as someone who lives in dunedin i don't really notice many earthquakes here. they mostly happen overnight and i sleep through them and in the morning my mum asks "did you feel the earthquake?" and i just turn around and say "what earthauake?" it's weird but scary at the same time in a way.
I never been through a earthquake or tornado but I did go through a bad wind storm on Christmas that tour homes and we missed out on our Christmas dinner because the power went out and we had another one the first day back at school after winter break and we got out for 2 weeks so😐
I remember before I moved to New Zealand, I was still in Russia and I was about five at the time..? And I saw the earthquake on the news like a few months before I actually moved to New Zealand. I remember being a bit creeped out and then a few months later we went to New Zealand and into Christchurch. It was a bit crumbly where It was but not to bad😅
I’m writing an essay I don’t have to write just to get ready for school. I can’t explain my logic I’m sorry 😂 Started the self assigned essay at the beginning of the video finished 6:43
I can relate so bad. I live in New Zealand too, and I recently moved to Kawerau. Where earthquakes happen EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. My cousin is moving to Christchurch and I'm frickin scared. My first earthquake was at Kawearu, and we moved a house to our section, so it was on temporary PILES. BASICALLY. STICKS. And the house shook a lot more than a normal house. And I just sat on the floor thinking, THIS IS FINE.
Here is my Story XD The earthquake happend in my country in 2014 or 2012!!!! So I was Just Finished watching cars 2 meanwhile the credits rolled And I went to bed. I didn't feel anything untill in 5:45 PM in the morning My family woke me up and we evacuated from the building!!!!!!!!! It was scary and My brother was scared!!!!! He threw up!! Ewwwwh.... And my mom s Parents Came even And we stayed in their car...... And the earthquake stopped but it Rained..... Yes it started raining And then u waited for it to stop and it did Everyone went back to their beds I didn't!!! I wasn't tired and I decided to play angry birds Rio XD THE END!!!!! Hope you enjoyed my story soda!!!
I used to live in Alaska, there was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake one time while I was chillin and I absolutely thought I was gonna die lol i was on the 3rd story of a house and it felt like the whole house was a slinky. Coincidentally I was on the phone with my ex gf who lived in Auckland while it happened
So the bad earthquake for me was on Thanksgiving when I was about 3 or 4 and the celing fan shook and almost fell and the whole house shook and we had to gwt out. We were fine but we have earthquakes all the time cause I'm right on the San Andreas fault line AND the "Ring of Fire" so it can get pretty bad here.
This is starting to remind me of when my school got shot up on Valentine’s Day (Yes I’m talking about MSD, and yes I’m alright, I didn’t go to school that day) I’m so sorry about what happened and my prayers go out to the victims Ps keep up the good work
When it happened I was the only one to get under the table then the earth quake the teacher got every one under a table (WTF is wrong?) It still haunts me . I was 5
Wow, you're so brave. The biggest thing that's happened at my school was a code yellow of a dangerous person in the area, and he wasn't even in the school- I also happened to be absent that day. You're so strong!
My 3 dogs died, I lost my home during this earthquake. I'm so happy you're safe, but you have to know that not everyone is perfect. Accept who you are and don't be thinking about suicide. Here's the story: I was waiting in the sick room in my school because I felt sick and wanted to go home. So I was waiting for my Dad to pick me up, when I heard people screaming. The school alarms went off and everyone started running to the school grass oval. My Dad actually came as soon as I got to the oval, so he joined in. Once the earthquake had finished, people were still crying. My Dad and I ran home (Our car was destroyed) to find my sister and Mother crouching over our 2 dead dogs. We found our other dog buried under bricks once we started re-building.
I've never had any earthquakes because Ireland doesn't have any earthquakes, but there was a huge storm and 3 people passed away. There's definitely people still grieving, and I send my love out to them all.
Where I live in NZ we often have very small earthquakes and we just had one now. I have only lived here for a few weeks past a year now and we get them every few months. I'm not used to the earthquakes because I used to live an hour away and I had never experienced them before. I still get panic attacks at literally the smallest sign of one
I remember the feb quake I was balancing on the fence while my friends and I were practicing play we were making for our class (I was in year 4 so I was around 7) and when the quake hit I fell and badly sprained my ankle, and the next minute I knew I was running near the front field crying lining up with my class everyone was crying or freaking out, after around 10 minutes my mum came to pick me and my brothers up so as soon my mum came next to me a really big aftershock came and I just remembered my mum overtopping me just Incase one of our class rooms came down luckily it didn’t but I did hear screaming and aswell my own cause we just see our field starting to fill up with very thick liquid faction. It was once of the scariest things I ever experienced, and later that day I was told my auntie was supposed to be in one of those buildings that came falling down but luckily she was had to go out somewhere and my mum was one her way back from town aswell. It’s sad to know how many life’s it took that day and effected so many people/families
Oh my god. This scared the crap out of 5 year-old me when I was told that there was a massive earthquake in Christchurch because I was so stupid that I didn't know that Christchurch is in the South not North Island.
ive only experienced one earthquake since i moved and that was the one that happened in kaikoura. i also experienced on not too long ago, which was felt the most in my town. i used to live in a place where earthquakes were rare and moving to a town that had them a lot more was kinda scary. but ive gotten used to it.
We dont get earthquakes really because we live in england, and we dont live in the edge of an earth plate. if we do get them, they are so very minor that nobody notices them. But it's weird, because I know when we have earthquakes, I can feel them, I can feel the shaking. Its only happened a few times within the past few months. I remember one time, i was in a music room for the lunch time, i was with my friend and her friend that i didnt know personally was there too. And i felt the ground shake. I panicked, and my friend thought i was going a bit crazy again, thinking i was having a panic attack too. i hid under the table and started to cry. She knew about me and the whole earthquake situation, so she tried to calm me. It was so big, but nobody else knew it happened. My friends friend was so confused. Beleive it or not, this is true. I can feel them when nobody else can, even if they are so minor.
I had an earthquake when I was like 5 or 6 and I thought it was really cool but after a while when I got older I realized earthquakes are pretty bad I had no idea what was going on and my tv was trembling I was just holding my moms hand looking at everything shake
my nana lived in the red zone and had to move out. my dad went down to chch to help clean up and check on my nana. but it was really really scary even though I was in wellington. but I can't even imagine what it was like being there.
When i was like in third grade every single thursday to friday we had an earthquake practice EVERYTIME it was pretty annoying when it was about to become lunch time *THE EARTHQUAKE BELL RANG* It was pretty annoying but it was pretty fun XD
I live in auckland and I read a book about this earthquake recently. a boy I know was in it too. That second quake was vicious man. You dont need to read this bit | V I remember when I was like 4 there was a tornado in a town near me, I saw it on the news and I was pretty scared. There was 1 death and the top of the supermarket got ripped off and yeh.
one time when i was 5 or 6 i live in southern californa and there was this big earthquake and the lights in my apartment went out for a week me and my big sister had to hide under the table and half of our plates and bowls got broken my sister had to help me out under the table after because i was so scared and we had to use candles as a light sourse after.
Oh ahah I remember everyone crying out of my friend group except me, I was excited that we had a week off and had no school. Didn’t Mr walkers fish die?
it's so hard man my aunty lives over in you're city she almost died but she was okay now she almost was crushed one of her close friends though past I feel very bad she moved away to the south island after that and had her best friends funeral there I wish her the best . i live in Whangarei I'm so sorry about it sucks our country's is such a beautiful place and now we have one of the highest suicide rates and I'm so devastated the way people are so selfish it's disgusting luckily Christchurch is okay now I'm sorry that was what happend I wish you luck
And As someone who lives near the Ring of Fire (Although to be fair our buildings are built to withstand them ) I'd rather deal earthquakes then hurricanes .
*eats popcorn and does hermit crab thing*
Most ideal thing to do during a earthquake
XD
oh we actually did a case study on the christchurch earthquake in 2011 in our geography class
plushie collector Aj Yeah, so have I

Hello
I hope every thing is alright now
I feel bad for you at 2011 that was 7 years ago
I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I've never really experienced an earthquake where I live. It's weird for me to even imagine the earth shaking

I can’t explain my logic I’m sorry 😂
Started the self assigned essay at the beginning of the video finished 6:43
I know that this is sad/serious and i feel sympathy for u since i live in the uk but your art is so frikking good.
I LOVE THE NEW STYLE OHMYFRICKyes
Yeah I was in the Cristchurch earthquake as well, we moved out of Cristchurch as fast as we could.
I live in California, that means I also get earthquakes.... though I've never felt anything servere
One time in school we were at ground floor we didnt even feel the super strong earthquake
Here is my Story XD
The earthquake happend in my country in 2014 or 2012!!!!
So I was Just Finished watching cars 2 meanwhile the credits rolled
And I went to bed. I didn't feel anything untill in 5:45 PM in the morning
My family woke me up and we evacuated from the building!!!!!!!!!
It was scary and My brother was scared!!!!! He threw up!! Ewwwwh....
And my mom s Parents Came even And we stayed in their car......
And the earthquake stopped but it Rained..... Yes it started raining
And then u waited for it to stop and it did
Everyone went back to their beds I didn't!!! I wasn't tired and I decided to play angry birds Rio XD
THE END!!!!!
Hope you enjoyed my story soda!!!
XD thanks for the heart Pretty kind of you teheh :)
LOVE YOUR VIDS!!!
OML yum soda your art and animation has improved so much I love it @yum soda
I was in Eastgate mall when the roof caved in
I used to live in Alaska, there was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake one time while I was chillin and I absolutely thought I was gonna die lol i was on the 3rd story of a house and it felt like the whole house was a slinky. Coincidentally I was on the phone with my ex gf who lived in Auckland while it happened
So the bad earthquake for me was on Thanksgiving when I was about 3 or 4 and the celing fan shook and almost fell and the whole house shook and we had to gwt out. We were fine but we have earthquakes all the time cause I'm right on the San Andreas fault line AND the "Ring of Fire" so it can get pretty bad here.
whats the ring of fire? I feel like i should know this because im going to take geography for GCSE's
Moonstone husky the ring of fire is like... I can't really explain it, but it something to do with volcanoes.
Moonstone husky it's a big circle around the Pacific where seizmic activity is at its worst. there are more volcanos and earthquakes and stuff
This is starting to remind me of when my school got shot up on Valentine’s Day (Yes I’m talking about MSD, and yes I’m alright, I didn’t go to school that day) I’m so sorry about what happened and my prayers go out to the victims
Ps keep up the good work
When it happened I was the only one to get under the table then the earth quake the teacher got every one under a table (WTF is wrong?) It still haunts me . I was 5
0:49 me: *casually drawing in the cornor while watching this video*
Wow, you're so brave. The biggest thing that's happened at my school was a code yellow of a dangerous person in the area, and he wasn't even in the school- I also happened to be absent that day. You're so strong!
omg are you ok
My 3 dogs died, I lost my home during this earthquake.
I'm so happy you're safe, but you have to know that not everyone is perfect.
Accept who you are and don't be thinking about suicide.
Here's the story:
I was waiting in the sick room in my school because I felt sick and wanted to go home.
Im so sorry for you and your dogs
Man I haven't watched yum soda in forever!
IM SO GLAD UR SAFE SODA!!!!
If it isn’t to private, where do you live in nz? I live in nz aswell - Taupo actually
wait people dont wish there was an earth quake too.. just to see what happends BECAUSE OMG I HAVE DRILLS FOR IT EVERYDAY
I used to live in Christchurch but I moved into Wellington, the earthquake ruined my school so I’m glad we moved
This is so sad, I'm really glad your ok 😅
Was anyone else drinking soda while watching this?
Kittycatkayah & Kiki shoot I just finished my one before I saw this video
Nerds of cartoons Rest In Peace soda
HOW DID YOU KNOW
I was eating those fizzy soda candies in little cans.

I'm not even a citizen of New Zealand and I was terrified when I heard about this 😭 I'm so glad you're okay
Bless u :(
This video is old but, I'm so grateful to only have experienced a tiny 1 second shock. Everyone were so confused on what it was. (From Auckland)
i went through the same thing
Also, I would also take something to eat like what you did with popcorn. Comfort eating helps me :3
I don’t get earthquakes where I live
Same
Lucky I've had lots and I am age 8 to 13
Zanoxys do you live in Sweden to?
No
Toby getting animated always gets to me
Oh my god. This scared the crap out of 5 year-old me when I was told that there was a massive earthquake in Christchurch because I was so stupid that I didn't know that Christchurch is in the South not North Island.
Yo dude! I had no idea you lived in CHCH. Hope you and your fam are all doing alright.
ive only experienced one earthquake since i moved and that was the one that happened in kaikoura. i also experienced on not too long ago, which was felt the most in my town. i used to live in a place where earthquakes were rare and moving to a town that had them a lot more was kinda scary. but ive gotten used to it.
I think you should do more storytime videos cuz i really enjoyed this one
I’m actually crying 😭 I feel so bad for you live in Arizona so I don’t get earthquakes
Every time there's an earthquake in New Zealand I think, "oh god is Hazel ok?"
btw love your art espeshaly chibii
The thought of 10 year old Soda eating popcorn while everyone else is freaking out is just really great
We dont get earthquakes really because we live in england, and we dont live in the edge of an earth plate. if we do get them, they are so very minor that nobody notices them.
Ooooh, that one at lunch, I was sitting with my sister for the first time in ages, that was my dad's birthday
Dammit soda you made me cry
Don't worry God is with you...
So glad I live in a place that never has extreme weather.
Move to the northest part of sweden. Here we ONLY have snow, trees, and 2 hours of sunlight. Were safe.
YAYAYAYAYAY
LOVE YOU SODA
I’m glad I don’t live in a area that was earthquakes often because if I did I would have been crying and screaming during earthquakes
I live in auckland and I read a book about this earthquake recently. a boy I know was in it too. That second quake was vicious man.
You dont need to read this bit |

I remember when I was like 4 there was a tornado in a town near me, I saw it on the news and I was pretty scared.
I hope everything thing will be right again 😇 ❤

I've never had an earthquake, but if I did it would suck quite a bit because there's trees everywhere
Im happy that I live in sweden, couse here we dont have earth shaking things u know...😰😥
Everyone were also Fine....our apartment was fine too and nobody was hurt :)
Thankfully!!!!!!
I live in florida so no earthquakes but we get really bad hurricanes and I think I would rather go through hurricanes than earthquakes.
And As someone who lives near the Ring of Fire (Although to be fair our buildings are built to withstand them ) I'd rather deal earthquakes then hurricanes
.
My brithday and then Soda ends up posting a video about an earthquake while I'm attempting to download the sims 4....
your good at drawing and i cried
I live in Turkey, theres alot of earthquakes. But they are short, like 6 seconds.
