It is one clear symptom of the culture of impunity that has taken over Ghana and a clear sign of our collective failure to create a disciplined, lawful and orderly society. Should you pay? No! People should not be allowed to reap where they have not sown!
This started in Kumasi years ago and still there till now. The chiefs started that as a way to protect some of the dispute between lands with macho men.
Great topic only problem in Ghana is that laws everyday are passed as u know Land Guards are an illegal entity however they never work because who enforces it
I have heard that they can be affiliated with people within the community. They sometimes follow the excavator to see who is starting work and hang out around the rental establishments to know where the machinery is being delivered to.
These land guards are a problem and extortionist. Paying the digging fee will not free you from their activities as i experienced them. I paid digging fee of 3,500 Cedis to chiefs right before I started my project yet these land guards came to the site and harassed us regularly. They were given small monies here and there whenever there was any form of work going on. I remember I challenged them on the phone one time and they threw the phone to the ground that belonged to one of my people. Another time when we refused to pay, they took the tools of the workers with them and we had to pay to get them back The people in the community usually tell them when someone is working on their project. I walled and gated my place before after my various experiences before my next major work on the project thinking they can't come in if no one opens the gate. These land guards started stoning my people from out the wall of the project. I went on my community platform and raised hell about the people that hint the land guards to come harass residents while they are working. Somehow the land guards got called off and the work went on smoothly
Is thesame also in Nigeria. They come as soon as you start the foundation. But the money they request is almost nothing. But when you pay once, get your receipt so that when other groups come around, just show them
There getting their information from corrupt officials that directly involved with land. I’m reluctant to pay, but if my life in danger, I guess I would.
@@rushasare okay thank you very I will get them And I once asked when you will be teaching how to learn stocks Do you maybe know when you will start ? Cause you really a mentor to me and wanna learn everything from you
@@iam_jefford9330 I am writing and preparing a course. I do not know when it will be ready. I will have it in writing, videos/audio, and Zoom meetings to clear things up.
Nothing is for free in Ghana. The police will not willingly come to help you without you making them happy. Which is why sometimes you just have to pay up if they are not asking for much.
I don’t know who asked them to be guarded people land They will be getting the chicken changes and end up old with no land for themselves it is very frustrating dealing with them

Land guard is a problem in the greater Accra region.
One question wouldn't an attorney know the status of titled litigation free land and these annoyances?
They are in central region also
What about apam is it prevalent there.

Your payment actually encourages them to continue extorting money from people. Do not pay those thugs a dime! They don’t deserve it!

This mostly happens in Accra and Kumasi.

If I decide not to pay them, can I get the police involved or the land guard unit you mentioned? Or do I have to pay them off as well?
