Folks going solely on stats is not a defining criteria because they play two different positions. Naturally Caitlin being a point guard is going to have a clear edge in assist and points because she handles the ball more and initiates the offense. I admit fully that I’m a New WNBA fan and don’t know a lot about the game. But with that said, it seems to me that the ROTY should look a Rookies impact on her team’s successes and not just the stats.
Selecting the ROY based on rebounding is like the NFL giving the award to a blocker. It's a necessary job for the largest people on the team, but doesn't require the most game I.Q., overall abilities or talent. If AR was white and CC was black, there wouldn't even be conversation about who's the ROY.

CC leads the league in turnovers, has one of the worse efficiency ratings, +/- ratings meaning she’s a liability on defense. Angel plays BOTH ends at a high level.. her only flaw was fg percentage but that has went above 40% over the last few games! CC’s flaws are glaring.. albeit she is getting better! Love CC.. but if you average 6 turnovers with 10 assists.. well you do the math. Those 6 turnovers (wasted posessions) cancel out 6 of those assists 🤷🏾♂️ Angel has been dominant crashing the boards & on the defensive end AND her scoring has gone up. Now while I do believe CC will be GIFTED the ROTY award I sure as hell don’t think she’ll deserve it.. unless she just rips the league up over the next few games.
