AMEND - Had it in my head it was the Interex - but it was in fact The Auretian Technocracy - sorry for that mixup. Right then, we return to the story of the Emperor. I will just be leaving now, as I am certain more than 1 Inquisitor/Assassins are on their way to my location right now. Also apologies for my ongoing voice issues, its still not 100% but improving, getting this recorded did nearly kill me lol - If you enjoy as per usual - likes comments support the channel as you know. (lastly as per usual - always do my best to read up on everything if there are errors point me to a reference - as always some of this is my own interpretations ie. Subjective)
I watched the whole video and now i feel like i been shocked to the core. Is everything i experienced a lie? What is right? What is wrong? What is the truth?!
Yaas more 40k content Luetin commenting while watching (technical heresy I know) but so happy to watch some more.I've calmed my 40k revival down somewhat as I remembered I love the lore and the universe more than the minitures as such but god I love the universe. I dunno maybe one day I'll get my finger out and do my beloved space wolves army but I'm good with the lore for now although I feel the need to buy some books.Do you have any recomendations for a good read? I'm a returning 90's fan from around the necromunda and tyranid introduction era and I just love that grim horrible future of mankind that 40k is.
Dude, seriously, these videos make it so fun to get into the lore of warhammer. Seriously, I don’t own a single miniature, I don’t know how to play, I just love the lore, and-far and away-you do the best lore work. Your videos are engaging, they illuminate the lore, you speculate on subtext in such intriguing ways, and you structured this video in particular very well. The framing with the history of early emperor with the priest was excellent. I welcome any videos you do, whatever the length, but I seriously love these long form dives into lore. It really helps paint the spirit of the world for us, I think. You show us how deep and elaborate the lore is. Thanks mate.
Same here. Never played any of the console/pc games, looked at a miniature or read any books but the lore is rich and and this guy knows how to use his interpretation of that lore to put together something fantastic.
millertime73scd Dude im in the same boat. I could give a shit less about minitures. However we live in a eternal relm. I believe this is going on out there somewhere at some time. In a relm of infinity...its possible! I love me some 40k lore/truth/lie whateva

I always think about things like that but it actually makes sense. When we don't understand something we'll claim it as magic or the will of god but when we see a person create an electric current in their hand we can see or manifest a flame and not get burned and then we see how they did it it takes away the fantasy and disillusioned belief we have and roots us in reality which the emperor always wanted. See that which is before you is not a god but a manifestation of humanity's spirit and imaginings made real crafted by their own hand to resemble the divinity you once thought your masters now commanded by your fellow man
Holy Terra during 2k, alternate universe, have fun launching exterminatus on a past holy Terra in a parrallel universe which would require time travel.
To give credit to your storytelling, describing the Thunderwarrior's slaughter of the civilians gave me chills every time I listened to it. Keep up the good work!
@@FingerinUrDaughter This is something that is very easily proven. Link the wiki-article and cite where he's reading from word for word. Then cite what others he takes things from, and tell us the time-stamps in the video so we can listen to his words while reading them off the wiki ourselves. Claims are easy to make. Providing proof, takes a bit more effort. Bit go on. Prove the claims correct.
Based Thunderwarriors did all that slaughter while listening to AC/DC - Thunderstruck! PS: They're not civilians if they charge at you. Thunderwarrior Manual: There are NO civilians. Period!
But then people wouldn't have worshipped him, which is, in essence, what he wanted. You can see the same self-aggrandizing thirst for recognition in several of his sons, such as Perturabo.

@Charlie Freeman "Scientific Atheism" was the official state religion of the Soviet Union, whose atrocities were boundless. Marxism is a Materialist philosophy (that is to say, it believes that there is nothing beyond the material realm) which espouses that religion is a mere harness to keep the masses under control, and to restrict progress. Now, which belief does that sound like in the West?
@@Jupiter__001_ This is kind of a side-issue, but "Materialism" means something different in a Marxist context. Specifically, it's the theory that material circumstances are the primary driver of social developments. Many Marxists *do* view religion the way you described, though.
I feel like people are missing half of the message of the video, which is that while the Emperor is seemingly hypocritical and deeply flawed, it also seems as if (within the W40K universe) he might also be right on many of the fundamentals of his beliefs. That's what makes this element of the lore so interesting: it isn't cut-and-dry on either side of the discussion.
Tis probably written as such so players who play chaos aren't just the 'bad guys' and can have a justified perspective as to why there fighting the imperium
I think the difference from The Emperor's perspective was that religion claimed all of its acts were in service to something which couldn't be proven was valid, whereas everything he did was to further a practical goal. To "cleanse" earth so as to launch a unified effort to the galaxy. To make the best soldier in order to unify a galaxy to present the unified effort to the universe, etc. In The Emperor's mind, it was justified not because the acts he perpetrated were different in inherent nature, but in that they were to an actual ends that was actually happening. That was what made it fundamentally different. It's ironic that it was all partially to combat gods who would come to play a very real part in unmaking his practical Empirium.
@@isaakhyde8327 Religions also usually have practical goals -- rejecting the reality of those goals because they aren't your own doesn't make them any less a real part of the religions. The Emperor was just a self-satisfied zealot who sowed the seeds of his own doom by refusing to acknowledge or allow knowledge of anything that disagreed with him. Which is the point -- the Emperor deludes himself into believing he's done away with the very thing he forces upon humanity. As Durkheim argued, religion is an inherent part of humanity and cannot be done away with without doing away with humanity.

Uriah really went toe to toe mentally with the Emperor and impressed him enough to want to offer him a place in the incoming Imperium. The proceeds to say “nah” hahah dude had major balls.
I wonder what was going through his mind as the Emperor tried to tell him of all the horrible acts and massacres in the name of religion… Literally 2 minutes after Uriah told him the story of 50k civilians being brutally murdered by the Emperors soldiers. Uriah: 🤔
Your help was important citizen now since your mind was corrupted by this vile heretic's lies you'll be transported in the front lines to find a honorable horrible death and hopefully your soul will return to the Emperor
@Devon Crusader 40k is meant to be Grimdark so their are no true good guys as in always doing the moral thing, Its not a standard good vs evil narrative, even the chaos gods represent some good elements/ even the dark elder are toruring people out necessity no matter how much they enjoy it. The Big E either made some awful mistakes or didn't care that much when it came to some matters. I tend to believe since he avoided any long lasting power for most of human history he did care but hated the every role of the autocratic over lord so much he refused to feel, and so caused him to be narrow minded in situations with people, such as when your going to create sons
@Devon Crusader I would not say they have a higher capacity to be good, I mean korn does want that skull at the end of the day he just isn't going to stab you in the back to get it, Nurgle doesn't want to make you extinct but he does seem to think the bubonic plague is the best think since alcohol, slennesh loves when you strive for perfection even if it kills you or others, with Tzeentch of cause change can be a good thing, things can only get better when things are bad with change but Tzeentch would have soo much that he mimics the MLP Discord character when briefly took over. Ultimately they are just representations of aspects of reality but when they start unduly influencing the real world for their own power they are capable of any evil, chaos invasion corrupt the very mind so it doesn't respect any silly thing like autonomy the same with the imperium, also the chaos gods only care about their great game it seems, so in essence everyone just a pawn in this end ever.
I came here to learn about the lore of Warhammer 40k because of the news that Henry Cavill is starring in and producing a series about it. I wasn't expecting something so epic and awesome! Holy sh*t! Thanks for this mehn! Your narration of the lore in great details is amazing. I can't stop watching your videos.
Looks like he WAS, gonna star in, and WAS the producer of the show. He may have left over creative differences. It looks like Amazon had Games Workshop change the lore recently, with a recent book release before Sapce Marine 2. Custodes were also Women as well, despite being explicitly made Male, because the few women that were tried died excruciating deaths EVERY SINGLE TIME. Henry didn't know they changed it, and Amazon never told him that they asked Games Workshop. Even though they have Adeptus Soroitas.
"The difference is: I know I'm RIGHT!" That actually made me burst out laughing, He really does have a wonderful sense of humor, it's just a shame he's not aware of that himself..."
I recently saw some clips of "Becoming a Space Marine" and it peaked my interest. I searched Warhammer 40k Lore and came across this absolute banger of a Playlist. This plays like an audio book and the way you narrate it with your own interspersed commentary is absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for this amazing work as it completely pulled me into this unbelievable universe.
Considering how much he witnessed throughout the ages, I'd be inclined to believe him. He really should have gone with some first had experiences instead of simple platitudes for his arguments.
@@johnathanblackwell9960 Considering how much he witnessed dictators plunging their countries off cliffs, with mass purgers and world wars, he should of never engage in his "I know I'm right" and "Ends justify the means" style of governance. In fact, he should of never been in a position of power in the first place.
I find it difficult to believe that the Emperor didn't drop the Primordial Truth and all that entails for humans on that priest considering that he was there alone and all the others were his most loyal soldiers that he entrusted to accompany him. That would've shattered the poor man's belief in pieces.
Yeah, the all-present divine imagery that Big E used really contradicts his stated goals. It seems like such an obvious hole in his vision, and I can't really come up with a good explanation for it. I mean, he's definitely not stupid.
Of course the Emperor knew that he was destined to fail. Anyone who's spent 5 minutes reading or listening to Warhammer 40K lore can tell you that their universe rolled crit-fails on all of its key stats.
He knew it was destined to fail but even still he thought that if he did things right, he could outdo those odds. A very human thing to do for a very human man.
You know while people might think that this was a story of a godly man who sought to ironically not be a god among men and eventually becoming exactly that, but the story of how mankind is ultimately stubborn. He knew the real truth, that chaos would corrupt and eat his people, and yet he still defied it. This is how humanity has always worked, it is prevalent in our own history. If he had chosen to just accept "fate", humanity would not have had a chance to at least have the freedom to be it's own doom. The path he chose was narrow, and while he and many may think he failed, I think the opposite. The Emperor succeeded because Chaos was beat back and hasn't completely corrupted his people, while a lot have died and humanity is now being humanity, at least it can remain as humanity rather than something else entirely, darkness. Humanity in the 40k universe still has a chance to shine, while we can look at it and see it as grim, if you consider the circumstances and the other potential fate for humanity, they are still the light. Light can often be interpreted as a rebellion against darkness, light being life and darkness being death.
Killerbee McTitties aim to the head, and pull the trigger as quickly as possible. the lassgun can kill fast, but it takes practice. Praise the emperor.
Luetin, I dont know how many times ive listened to these first episodes and it always has me speechless! The editing, the atmosphere, your telling of both "fact" and speculation is all just to good. And better then anything else this really gives the whole epic proportion of the 40k setting, its such a depressing yet intriguing story when hearing it retold like this. This could be made into official media and sold as lore compendiums and it would sell a tonne! Thank you for making them,

I'm already 4 hours deep into your 40k lore series before I watch this next video. The lore is insanely detailed and you have made an amazing presentation. Well done, sir.
Before the video: oh neat. A video about the emperor! This will be great viewing for a loyal citizen of the empire like myself! After the video: EMBRACE THE PRIMORDIAL TRUTH!
Spartan2ar what is the primordial truth? Thank you for asking. Long story short. Warp attuned gene craftsman ridiculed the most anal of races, which sold their souls to star eating bundles of raw power. The two races fought each other to extinction and by doing so, the warp got messy. The primordial truth is, that the warp is a mirror of the materium as such it can not be denied by mankind which are creatures of the gene smiths and bound to the warp undeniably..
@@zoompt-lm5xw The entire history of the 40k verse is one long series of tragedies. How the emperor in his laser focus to save humanity could not see the flaws in his plan, or how situations of "lets chose the least bad option and hope for the best" resulted in the worst outcome. In the end, I suppose it proved the emperor right. He as indeed a man, capable of making mistakes just as anyone of us. And honestly, can any one person truthfully claim that they would have fared better when attempting such a massive task?
I remember when i had seen your first video on the Emperor. You absolutely hooked me! It was my introduction to the 40k universe, and ever since i've been a fan of it. After your two videos on mankind i bought a few games about 40k, and recently, after watching them a second time, even decided to buy and paint my first miniatures! Emperor: appears glowing to wounded man in shock, supernaturally heals him, leaves him with no explanation and nothing to go back home to. Also Emperor: amazed said man thinks he's seen God. "Beware the alien, the mutant, the heretc." " Only in war are We truly faithful" WH 40K lore is so extensive, that You can pick even some small factions in a larger community and still cling on to their lore/beliefs
I have to say that I love your videos. I have only very recently (in the last week or so) become a fan of 40K purely from the release of Space Marine 2. I became very interested in the lore and came here to see “this games lore”, boy was I mistaken this isn’t just the lore of a game tho has been going for a long time and this is incredible. This entire world is grim and brutal, there are no good guys just people thinking they are right and do anything they need to in order to prove that. You should be directing a 40K film in the effortless way you make this so cinematic and enjoyable to here how The Emperor who was seen as a god is just a man making tough choices and just hoping it leads to the right path of light that he wishes to take humanity down. It’s an incredible universe and hearing you tell its tales makes it that much more engaging and enjoyable to learn something new. Luetin thank you for doing what you do. May the emperor guide me to your next video
it's easy to criticize someone than to respect, except that if the emperor is not perfect, I don't care. Not to mention the fact that the creatures of chaos say such things only so that the loyalists turn away from the emperor and help them not to help. He is almost perfect and he can achieve it if he is open to human individuality and their sons (spend more time with them). He loves his sons but has communication problems Ps beside TTS series is canon than 8 edition of GW and their story
The emperor must have known the future before he started the bloodshet during unification war and the great crusade. A fitting quote for this dilemma would be one I heared during the TV Show Babylon 5. The actor Andreas Katsulas said: "There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future, or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain."
I literally don’t even play 40k I just fucking love listening to you explain its rich and expansive lore. Every single video is a delight and it’s very clear how much research, work and passion goes into these. Love u dude!
Don't worry about the voice, you sound fine brother. I love this concept in 40k. The Emperor, in order to lead humanity had to deceive and use humanity, causing an enormous deal of suffering, all on the gamble that peace might be attained at some point and the fighting can stop. His attributes are human attributes writ large - his failings and flaws are human failings and flaws, writ large.
Stellvia Heonheim I’m not new...just played all the video games an I always assumed the elder was female And yea the sisters of battle will burn your ass
dont even play warhammer but after having heard all this, you can be damn sure im gonna get into all the lore, and dedicate my life to this. star wars seems like nothing now.....
They're really different genres. 40K is pure trash pulp very purple and overwritten that's why it's fun. Star Wars is fantasy and Dune is a mix of weird psychosexual fasc and eco-sci if
I don't think this is a fair statement in either regard. they are more or less amalgamations of different stories. star Wars started out as s love letter to swashbuckling pulp a la flash Gordon and with its success star Wars expanded, became richer in its lore and fictional universe that spawned some very interesting mythology. The movies and the tv shows for that matter have been pretty simple in execution and the whole brand sort of regressed unfortunately because of it. I would even say it can't recapture it's initial appeal even though it totally could. wh40k started out as a satire mocking hard line conservatism and took it to the max setting it up in tolaitarian nightmare which then was subsequently more expanded upon and now it's more of a theocratic medival science fiction epic which takes itself a tad serious albeit it handles that better than recent star Wars outings. the merit lies with Warhammer because it hasn't been tainted as much since hasnt gotten that much exposure besides its own fandom and some video games here and there. I kinda prefer it that way.
Dude listening to you is like listening to the history channel on the Roman Empire but on a galactic scale and a dystopian future this is one of the coolest stories I’ve ever heard told and I only stumbled on it because it’s some game trailer. 🤙
Everyone knowing about the Warp and how to protect themselves against it, however, would be. Seriously, I do not get how keeping the existence and nature of the Warp so secret that just seeing pictures of a demon is punishable by death was supposed to help. Warp entities are obviously quite capable of interacting with material beings without being summoned, so the best defense is to teach everyone how to identify demons and demonic influence and either guard against it or drive it out. But maybe I say that because I'm Catholic and have seen far too many real people do really stupid things in situations were a few gallons of holy water and a priest should be the sought out *immediately.*

The Emperor's greatest hubris was thinking he could, by intelligence and brute force, get around chucking out a tremendous amount of bathwater without also losing the baby. You could make a good argument that, morally speaking, he's not all that different from Stalin or Mao, and that the outcomes of his plans weren't due to some failure to execute--trying to tear a God-shaped hole in humanity's heart and replace it with Statism and Muh Science was *always* going to end badly.
Absolutely brilliant mate. I can't stress enough just how much I value your content. Truly, this is one of the greatest caches of amazing content on this platform
There's a better reason for the Emperor to leave out info about Chaos: he himself, is a benevolent chaos god. This would make it extremely difficult to explain why humanity should trust only him, and not other demons / gods. This would also explain his real hatred for religion: he's disgusted with how the demons have abused it. The problem with the 'forbidden fruit' argument, is its kind of like having a child near a rattle snake. If they don't know what it is, they might try to pet it. Therefore, it makes more sense to warn them. However, if its a rattle snake, warning a human child of another rattle snake, things get a bit complicated.
I've always found it a bit suspicious that the emperor conveniently decided to reveal himself to humanity during the age of strife, right when the forces of chaos began directly interacting with the material dimension. He didn't feel compelled to help out when 40k skynet was nearly successful in exterminating humanity? I think he's very similar to the other "gods." Just as Slanesh was born of the eldar's depravity, the emperor was born out of humanity's unbreakable hope, and determination. The personification of the human will.
Potentially, could make sense if you use the shaman theory alongside, although that would be flimsy due to the fact that it took billions of eldar to create slannesh

I have to say that Warhammer 40k lore has something so amazing in it that i cant really describe it. The lore does not pet you in the back with a happy stories to relief some stress and all that but rather it lets out this raw, brutal and terrifying vibe about pretty much everything and that in every corner of this universe there is a danger lingering! Hey! Hats of to you, I "played" (mostly painted) warhammer in my early teens, and I just love getting this lore dump, neigh waterfall over me. As of now im reading through the swedish poetical canon, and not only as a counterweight but as a feeding ground for new thought, I'm absolutely in love with these videos. Thanks for these, my friend is really into 40k. Been watching for a few days now, can't wait to impress him with all the lore I've learned. Also makes for easy listening to fall asleep. Put on the first episode
The Emporer of Mankind has always been the Chaos God of deceit, subjugation, or something of that manner in my mind. Just as you pointed out at 0:50, "The Emporer is not only loathed for his TREACHERIES against the Gods. He is anathemic to all human life." Treacheries implies betrayal. The only Gods we know of are the Chaos and Old Gods. Take your pick which to choose from. They both hate Humanity.
I am now even more intrigued how Imperial Truth transformed to Imperial Cult and how did Inquisition take part in this process. Especially how did they deal themselves with fact Emperor has lied about the existence of supernatural plain, the Warp and gods, and spirits and demons, and managed to hold to Imperial Truth during the Heresy, especially after Emperor was mortally wounded. To be honest they have done amazing effort to keep Humanity organized soon after Emperor became a nearly lifeless corpse put in statis, against the odds.
The only reason why The Emperor failed mankind was because he couldn’t relate to them. Humans engaged in religion and faith so much so because if they had no answers they still had something to believe in while the Emperor with all his God-like power and knowledge never knew an obstacle he couldn’t overcome and a question he could never answer. That was the reason why the Emperor could not understand the human need to believe in something or have faith because the whole point of having faith or believing in a religion is that it has no explanation and doesn’t need a reason, all you need is faith.
How I wish I could be a fly on the wall for the pre unification Emperor talking to a Sister of battle about her faith in him and how absurd he found it to be. Just to realize he will inevitably become the very thing he despises.
I would love to see a conversation on how to lead humanity on a path to greatness, "A Golden Path" & avoid the paths to extinction between the Emperor of the Imperium of Man and Leto II: the God Emperor of Dune.
I think the Emperor did see what would happen eventually. His psychic power was much stronger than the Primarchs and yet even the Konrad Curze saw what would happen. Even though the Primarch had great psychic ability, it wasn't as strong as what the Emperor had. This means that he really was a mad man bent to defying fate itself and failing to do so. He wanted to abolish all faith so that the future he saw would never come to pass and he probably thought he had done a great job of doing so until he learned of what Lorgar and the Word Bearers had done. Even the Emperor, with all his might, resources, loyalty from people who looked up to him, and an unbreakable will, wasn't able to defy fate. I think there's a deeper message there as well. I think the Emperor is in some way a symbol of the human mentality or will. He is a symbol of that overwhelming desire to carve your own path and defy that which has been laid out before you. In the end The Emperor realized he had failed, and how many times have people in our real world set out to do something with an unbreakable will and failed. It comes down simply to he represents human will. But, back to the lore, I find Horus wasn't entirely wrong after all. He wasn't exactly right but he certainly wasn't wrong in his view that the Emperor was power hungry and would eventually discard them as nothing more than forgotten tools. In fact in one of the newer books (the one where Roboute Guilliman is revived), Guilliman goes to the Emperor and the Emperor greeted him not as a lost son but as a lost tool that was found. It goes on to say that he realized that the Emperor never saw the Primarchs as sons but rather let them call him father. This would also mean his hesitation at killing Horus wasn't out of love or any form of caring. No, his hesitation was that he didn't want to kill off his most powerful weapon or tool. That would be like discarding a weapon while on the battle field. He was trying to find another way. This means that the Emperor never had the emotional connections with the Primarchs that they thought. He manipulated them. Horus is actually a great illustration to prove this. Horus states in False Gods that he is the Warmaster not because of his tactical mind but rather because he is the best one to continue the ambition of his father. We also know that Horus is a master manipulator himself. I think this is part of why he had his doubts about the Emperor's intentions not long before he fell to Chaos. He started to realize he was being manipulated in some way but wasn't exactly sure how. Bottom line is that the Emperor is not a character that wants the best for humanity but rather wants the best outcome for himself. He wanted to defy fate and was willing to murder, plot, manipulate, and use people to get there by any means. Even the Primarchs were fooled by his manipulations. Perhaps the Primarchs were designed with a flaw specifically to susceptible to his manipulation. Perhaps that's why the second and eleventh Primarchs were purged from history as they may have been resistant to his manipulations. Regardless, one fact remains, the Emperor, while being a self aggrandizing, manipulative, murdering, hypocrite, sadly enough, he is part of what pulled humanity together.
Then why not rise to power long before? With his abilities he really could have long before the age of technology, completely and overtly. His domination would have been absolute and then guided humanity to the GAoT and have complete dominion over humanity during its peak.
@@javiervalenzuela8284 Assuming we go with the posit that 'it's all according to the Emperor's plan' than the answer is simple: The Eldar. To be specific, until the Eldar empire fell, a rising humanity with a clear leader would rouse them from their decadence and trash it all. To make a Stellaris comparison, the Eldar were a (soon to be) Fallen Empire that owned about 1/4 of the galaxy during the GAoT... and The Emperor didn't want to poke that bear, knowing that over time it would collapse. It would also clear out the warp storms, giving a golden opening to get it back on track. Another idea is that The Emperor was simply too naïve at the time. He genuinely thought humanity could sort it out and he could help a little bit is all. (or posit he's lazy if you like.) When it all came crashing down, that's when he changed his mind. (or possibly when he saw no one was rising up to make a new empire as expected in the normal cycle of human civlizations he said 'fuck it, I'll do it myself!')
For someone so against religion, the emperor sets himself up as god, Horus as lucifer and the space marines as knights templar. Even down to unit and rank names! It's amazing just how much religious involvement there is in this lore!
I think that's what is so extraordinarily shocking about the Emperor's hypocrisy, he does every possible thing he can to make the Imperial Cult and the Ecclesiarchy inevitable.
A snippet from The Time Traveller by H.g.wells springs to mind "He thought but cheerlessly of the advancement of mankind, and saw in the growing pile of civilization only a foolish heaping that must inevitably fall back upon, and destroy its creators in the end." I think that the future the Emperor feared was one of pure survival, which I think is what the Chaos Gods want, an endless supply of pain and anguish. However, this is the only fate mankind is destined for unless it submits to utter destruction. Eventually, intellectually, instinctively, or as is what truly happens in the 40k universe, spiritually, it stagnates. The Emperor saw this at the end, and realising that the options were defeat and fodder for the Warp, or a soulless, meaningless, repetitive fight for what can barely be termed "survival", he optioned for the latter, hence the Grey Knights and the Inquisition. Maybe it was just one last middle finger to the Chaos Gods. "If I cant have Humanity, then neither will you."
Knowing what will happen in the future and doing something about it are two totally different things. And I've never been convinced the Emperor knew every event that will occur, for example, he may well have seen depictions of the events of the Horus Hearsay but only seen the influence of the Chaos Gods, so preventing those events becomes nigh on impossible.

Um "chainSword" thanks.
@@Jupiter__001_ This is kind of a side-issue, but "Materialism" means something different in a Marxist context. Specifically, it's the theory that material circumstances are the primary driver of social developments. Many Marxists *do* view religion the way you described, though.
@@manawa3832 uh, wanna back up your statement with literally any logic?
I feel like people are missing half of the message of the video, which is that while the Emperor is seemingly hypocritical and deeply flawed, it also seems as if (within the W40K universe) he might also be right on many of the fundamentals of his beliefs. That's what makes this element of the lore so interesting: it isn't cut-and-dry on either side of the discussion.
yes, 10 LT points for you
Tis probably written as such so players who play chaos aren't just the 'bad guys' and can have a justified perspective as to why there fighting the imperium

Ultimately they are just representations of aspects of reality but when they start unduly influencing the real world for their own power they are capable of any evil, chaos invasion corrupt the very mind so it doesn't respect any silly thing like autonomy the same with the imperium, also the chaos gods only care about their great game it seems, so in essence everyone just a pawn in this end ever.

let just say the writer know this is all fake lol

Never knew that I liked Warhammer 40k before a couple days ago. Sir you are a great presenter and story teller and librarian of the vast knowledge of this games rich history and have kept me entertained for multiple hours listening. Thank you very much lol!
I have never played 40k, but have deeply enjoyed listening to the lore in your videos.
Emperor: appears glowing to wounded man in shock, supernaturally heals him, leaves him with no explanation and nothing to go back home to.
Also Emperor: amazed said man thinks he's seen God.
Again also Emperor: claims religion is violent, just before going on to burn a church, betray his faithful thunder warriors by setting his new favourites on them, and then crusade across the galaxy.
Like luetin said, Emporor is pretty big hypocrite.

Based on how little faith Luetin09 has in the Emperor, I conclude he is an agent of Chaos.
it's easy to criticize someone than to respect, except that if the emperor is not perfect, I don't care.
Not to mention the fact that the creatures of chaos say such things only so that the loyalists turn away from the emperor and help them not to help.
He is almost perfect and he can achieve it if he is open to human individuality and their sons (spend more time with them).

The very WORST kind of agent of chaos, the kind who doesn't realize he's a manipulated puppet.
Babylon 5 was great

I think that the insane level of irony going on in this universe is def one of my favorite things about it....its also infuriating!
What irony?
Don't worry about the voice, you sound fine brother.
I love this concept in 40k. The Emperor, in order to lead humanity had to deceive and use humanity, causing an enormous deal of suffering, all on the gamble that peace might be attained at some point and the fighting can stop. His attributes are human attributes writ large - his failings and flaws are human failings and flaws, writ large.
Dude, I just binged all three of these as if it was a triple-A movie. Thank you so much!

@@Maximorix waaay better. The legends were wonderful.

Nice try, Tzeentch. Just because the Emprah made mistakes does'nt meant that everyone getting eaten by demons would be the preferable alternative.

Then I saw "The Imperial Lie" then went yeee.....
Nice
I've always found it a bit suspicious that the emperor conveniently decided to reveal himself to humanity during the age of strife, right when the forces of chaos began directly interacting with the material dimension.
He didn't feel compelled to help out when 40k skynet was nearly successful in exterminating humanity?
I think he's very similar to the other "gods." Just as Slanesh was born of the eldar's depravity, the emperor was born out of humanity's unbreakable hope, and determination. The personification of the human will.
Well said, mate.
Potentially, could make sense if you use the shaman theory alongside, although that would be flimsy due to the fact that it took billions of eldar to create slannesh

It's obvious every sheet of toilet paper he uses is gold-plated and decorated frivolously. The emperor is soooo flamboyant!
The Emporer of Mankind has always been the Chaos God of deceit, subjugation, or something of that manner in my mind. Just as you pointed out at 0:50, "The Emporer is not only loathed for his TREACHERIES against the Gods. He is anathemic to all human life."
Treacheries implies betrayal. The only Gods we know of are the Chaos and Old Gods. Take your pick which to choose from. They both hate Humanity.
Emperor, not Emporer
I am now even more intrigued how Imperial Truth transformed to Imperial Cult and how did Inquisition take part in this process. Especially how did they deal themselves with fact Emperor has lied about the existence of supernatural plain, the Warp and gods, and spirits and demons, and managed to hold to Imperial Truth during the Heresy, especially after Emperor was mortally wounded. To be honest they have done amazing effort to keep Humanity organized soon after Emperor became a nearly lifeless corpse put in statis, against the odds.
It was Malcador who founded the Inquisition as one of his last acts with the Emperors approval.

Perfect summary, but it’s still strange as he was still just a small cog in the grand universe, it makes his own arrogance a good Lucifer parallel.
The Emperor sought to be the paragon of humanity. But he could not be the paragon of what he had never been.

Your lore series single handedly got me into 40k and now i'm loving every aspect of it. FOR THE EMPEROR
A snippet from The Time Traveller by H.g.wells springs to mind
"He thought but cheerlessly of the advancement of mankind, and saw in the growing pile of civilization only a foolish heaping that must inevitably fall back upon, and destroy its creators in the end."
I think that the future the Emperor feared was one of pure survival, which I think is what the Chaos Gods want, an endless supply of pain and anguish.
Incredible work. I have never even played Warhammer and I love your videos my only real experience with 40K is the video games.
He says something relating to just that in “Master Of Mankind”, while speaking with his Custodian Ra Endymion. It’s pretty well explained, I thought.
