I think you're gonna need an almost perfectly flat landing to displace all the weight and yeah throttle up after you land. Gonna take some good timing but you'll get it
Even a $12,000.00 all titanium X-Maxx doesn’t stand a chance in your hands. Aren’t Traxxas gears made of sintered metal? Someone must be making this pinion gear from forged steel. But then YOU will be breaking shafts all over this car. Peace from the Oregon coast in the USA. Love your channel.
Possible solutions.
A ramp that's not as tall, this will let you keep your speed up but you won't get as much air.
Or a slipper clutch.
or just a smaller pinion
Or replace pinion with a metal one.
@@DailyMusicalGrowth pinions are metal
@@unijack_uwu1337 not always
@@jaspervandijk1328 in all of the traxxas cars they are metal expecially the X-Maxx
Claire is so fun! One of the best parts of your vids is her being annoyed by your rc cars! 😂
What i nice area to run the rcs. The xmaxx did really well on the crossing.
Your videos are awesome Kevin!!
Always a pleasure to watch them 😉
Have fun!!!
Clair looked gorgeous on this video 😍🥰
Keep it up Kevin you are an inspiration 😁👍👍
who else wants to do this???? insane! very cool to see how some people take this hobby...you obviously don't care about money anymore, just having fun...i think you are a good guy that loves what he does.... I enjoy these bash videos... thanks
Very amusing video love the water jumps Clair is in the water more than a boat lol good fun👍🏻✌🏻😀🤘🏻🇺🇸
Entertaining attempt at least ☺️ Thumbs up.
From what Claire said in her video I think I could answer your question on the thumbnail, good to be back watching the vids after my holiday!
Love your vids brotha!!!! Suggestion : maybe try a ramp that doesn't have as much vertical incline. Longer less vert will send you sailing forward instead of up. With such a vertical incline when you smack the water you’re basically coming straight down. I would think you want to keep that forward momentum to continue the hydro plane. So more speed hit it straight with less vertical incline on the ramp.
I can’t really see landing on water causing the transmission to have more stress than a jump that you land on land. Just a thought or hypothesis .
This I definitely one of your best videos, you have come so far kevin.
3:08 thats what he said.

Thanks for the shout out kevin it was amazing spending the day with you and the guys, my video will be out soon
Hey dude yeh we all had fun :)
I really enjoyed crawling with you, hope to do it again soon
KEV you are definitely the best..... love this channel. Thank you for all the great videos.
Awsm video Kevin, enjoyed it as few❤
Looks like you had fun 👍
& poor Claire, heal quickly chick 😁
hey paddlesworth!
Hey Kev, we missed you Sunday, Hope to catch up soon
Great stuff! You put alot of effort into your hobby. Again great stuff! 👍👍👍👍👍
Love your channel Merry Christmas
You need to just stick to dry land. That’s where the fun is guaranteed!
I wanted to see like this vid and you bought it!😙 And thank you once again!
Hay, your channel is the best RC channel that is on UA-cam.
thanks dude
How about mounting a set of ski's on the front of the lower chassis & maybe it will keep the front up, & let the rear dig in. Plus, you're still going to have power to the front to help pull it through the initial impact on the water. I have a friend who did exactly that set up on a Suzuki 450cc motocross bike & he went like a bat outta hell for over a 200+ foot crossing & had no issues. It was absolutely amazing. Maybe it could work on the Big X.....best of luck my friend, & keep your videos coming. Big fan here in NJ, USA.
Congrats with the new Land Rover Defender 👌😍😜
Thanks buddy
Ramp on lower ramps to soften the impact onto the water. Your idea of letting go of the throttle is a great idea. Lower ramps could keep you on top of the water better.
Awesome vid kev👍
I think you need to be in a boat close to the ramp and you may need a plywood landing zone.. or skies under belly of xmaxx.
Epic Video dude did make me chuckle 👍👍👍👍👍
You can Do It Kevin! 💯👍
Love this video. Rc cars bringing a smile to everyone's face.
Elmer Fudd calm down guy. Great 👍🏻 seeing that go on water.
Slipper clutch adjustments, all metal gears& throttle Control 🏅
I've just seen this! Looks like the boys already worked out a method but i think a ski underbelly might also work, it would need to protrude quite a bit and possibly be angled up more at the tip depending on the angle of your landing. Next time you feel another strip down coming up you should think about trying it again.
loved the video kev
Lol @ 5:29 "Traxxas tough baby"
Wicked video bud.......You need to find a jump that is not so steep so you dont loose so much forward speed . then when you land the wheel speed and forward speed will be a little closer to equal .... =less shock on the drive train/pinion....good luck man!!!!!
Great video Kevin.
Ooohhh nooo!!!🤣😂 Kev u should of FPV it, better view for hitting the juicy ramp!!!...🤣😂😂☺️👍🏽👊🏽✊🏽
You should drive the Xo-1 across water with paddle tires.
"For extremely flat surfaces"
Don't think this is what traxxas had in mind.
Love your channel man !
lower you suspension height to when it hits the water it can aqua plane a bit and then get grip. plus locked diff with slipper clutch. PS: you are awesome! keep it coming.
First kev can you try pit bull tires they are 1 of my sponsors
No you weren't
Excellent video! Very entertaining 😎👍Do the lipos survive the dunking in water? 😯😮
This title is basically your RC channnel in a nutshell! Lol good video!
WHAT HAPPENED 😆 love your channel , watch you all the time learning so much on RCing , i drive my rc vehicles all the time favorite hobby, hope to see more new videos take care and b safe
So much work, I don't have the time to do all this each time I feel like playing with my rc
Awesome. Great vid. Get you a protek pinion gear. Or anything but traxxas
!Do a cheap RC vs Expensive RC video! (ZD Racing vs ARRMA, WLTOYS VS TRAXXAS) Or a video where you compare all of your cheap RCs!
WPL VS TRAXXAS!??!?! PSSSH
Have a like because of the choice of music (Rosenberg trio)
Kev just a thought when Traxxas did their jump on water they landed on a flat sheet of plywood in the water, that settled the car and let them drive on, and carry on aquaplaning. Can't believe no one gave poor Claire a towel!!!! Nice filming and great of the club to let you give it a go. Plywood and four weights on rope at each corner to stop it drifting. As @Garry Baugher says @Tennessee Jimmy plywood needed. Practice on a quiet day and I think you'll nail it. Or get pat to swim in the water holding board above his head, on second thoughts that last one not such a good idea!
Yeh I see the ply video but it's kinda cheating I wanna land on water, guess I gotta keep trying
I think you need to start with a slightly shallower ramp and work the angle up to see how steep it will work. You need to keep up a skimming effect which requires a low angle. It might help if you screw the tip of an old water ski to the front of the car. An old school kids plastic ski for toddlers to learn on snow might be perfect, you might even fit 2x tips. But i'm sure you can bodge something together.
Maybe you shoud keep up the full power of the xmaxx wheels so when it lands on water, the rotation of the wheels will keep on rowing against the water both keeping it upfloat and possibly pushing it back and make it run again against water! Hoping you make it jump and run soon sir!
Respect from the UK bro.
Great Vid man!
The Power of the Motor is insane
That was NUTS Kevin 😜!!!! I think you're idea of easing back into the throttle might work 🤔. Definitely run a hardened steel pinion though. Robinson Racing Extra Hard #1220 👀😎💪👊👊
Hey man, thanks. A few mentioned the Robinson racing I'll give it a go 😁
@@KevinTalbotTV you bet 👊. Good luck with it 🍻
Kev is the best UA-camr ever!!
thanks man :)
Yess finally more vids
Who needs a rescue boat when you have a rescue Claire?
Need fins between the wheels, hydro foil, what ya think, under some type of spring tension angle so when water hits it, auto trim. will look and ride better,
How did the Banggood special end up? I also got one, just curious 😁😎👌.
Love your channel, loads of fun! Keep uo the good work!
I'm curious too, what happened with the Banggood special?
ah you have the dewalt 12v set definitely my favorite impact and drill 🤘🏼🤙🏼
Going to keep stripping the gears because you're tires are cranking the rpms on water then you hit solid ramp and it creates some serious resistance. You need to set the ramp up on dry land and jump into the water
Love ur channel man
Yo you need to put wings with water proof servos for flaps so hopefully be nice even straight glide down to victory
Hey Kevin! Im pretty sure those ramps are too steep upwards, making the xmax jump, slow down mid air, and practically drop into the water making it impossible to continue at enough speed for it to continue going on the water. Maybe if you made a more shallow jump, and kept up as much speed as possible, would the xmax be able to continue driving after the jump.
exactly what I was going to say. Dropping it into the water at that height basically is like dropping it into wet concrete. A lower angle would be like skipping a stone.....at a certain velocity, water is literally as hard as concrete so what he has to do is up the velocity, and lower the angle.
I dont subscribe much but I did to ur channel. thanks from san diego california!
Epic video kev
That looks absolutely epic
Is it possible to add a tube filled with air inside the tires to help keep the car more buoyant ?....Think about it......Sounds like a good idea to me.....What do you think ??🏎
Plywood landing with floats and some good hard gears would help
looks like a place down near Kempston Bedford great video what's fun and enjoyable
I wonder if softer damper can help smooth out the higher frequency shock from the water. Maybe it will go faster
NO RC CARS IN MY LIFE I LOVE RC CARS ❤❤ 😭😭
Kevin... Question... Do you think it would be cheaper to buy all of the Traxxas X-maxx parts separate and build it yourself from scratch rather than buying a Xmaxx whole ???
Here's an idea for ya when you are trying to stay above water in a r/c car/truck, a thin layer of foam board on the bottom of the chassis and swing arms, and make a ramp in the front of the chassis to bring the the front out of the water and help it maintain a plane across the water
Perhaps try some buoyant skidplate under the Xmaxx. Something like foam board. Basically a small body board strapped to the bottom of the chassis. Maybe a kids floatation "kickboard" swimming aid would be around the right size.
Damn! I'm too busy to watch now! Will upvote now, watch later!
I got an idea how to stop the pinion stripping, I don't know if its possible but if you could fit a viscous gear to the drive (like the old cooling fan on a Ford). If I remember correctly you could adjust the slip . I might be taking out my arse but a clutched pinion is the way to solve your problem.
You should do some 1/8 scale RC buggy racing
I think you should try to harden your gear. Heat it with the gas burner until it glows and cool quickly in oil.
I have tried it on other rc parts and it works perfectly :-)
Greetings to all
New Zealand here.🖐
I think almost every rc has gears that aren't wide enough. Theres simply not enough contact area for all that force. My only tip is to put on a wider pinion and spur?
Have you thought about trying this with your E REVO 2.0?
Maybe some sort of skis fitted to the wheels that are free spinning so they don’t turn idk lol but pretty cool video
A boat has a flexible shaft to help with rotational speed variances as it crosses the waves and uses so much power to rotate in the water, the gears offer no match for the force of the water, in fact you can't even shoot a bullet in the water as it slows anything down quickly without propulsion, you'll need a slipper clutch minimum to stop this, maybe better grade metal will help but the sudden stopping of the wheels is going to stress most metals
WOOOOOO LETS GOOOOOO
Kev, great video, use Robinson racing pinions, they are better material than hpi. It’s what I use on my x maxx
I think it's possible, but would need to be a much shallower jump, it's always going to bury itself landing off a big one where as a shallower one should act more like a skipping stone.
have you ever tried hardened steel pinions instead of powder hardened steel ones? they look completely different from each other one looks nice and the other looks like it was machined together.
Man, I don't think it can be done but if you manage to land it, that would be impressive 👍🏼
it can be done with a slash so why not an xmaxx?
Fun video... My slash 2wd does 70km/h on 2s... btw Its 2 am
To properly empty a "Dead" Li-po battery You put it into a bucket of Sand (Under the sand with only the wires poking out) then you attach a 12v lightbulb to it and let it empty
When u got in the boat, I thought you forgot to take the car lol
Try go hard off jump and use the momentum on it hitting the water and as it bounces back up you want to hit the power as the load weight is being push back up so should take pressure of gears and allow you to punch throttle hard again and just maybe you'll get going again but you time needs to be good bruv 💯👌🏾
Nice Kevin the poor xmaxx. I was at the live stream
It absolutley Pisses me off when i see that all the people i edmire live soo far away . And that ive travlled 2h/30min And its still not enough .To bloody talk to them . Except by social media . Im the only person in my family that likes rc , so im the only one that can support my channel and hobby . I wish life went my way for once .
Thank god bashfest exists . Btw nice vid kev lol
Kev can you do a vid with rc boats?
