I'm 46. Metal is music I listened to since I was 4 or 5 (lots of Sabbath and Deep Purple). Got in to Thrash Metal when I was about 18. I was about 20 and in college and I remember reading all about Burzum and Darkthrone and Emperor and Mayhem but I was so prejudiced against this stuff I wouldnt give it a listen. Then 10 years ago I got into Opeth and ever since I have been on this long march backwards to all this great music. It's a lonely place to be though because absolutely none of my family or buddies would give any of this stuff a listen for even one minute (believe me I've tried). It's amazing though of you just give it a chance the way this stuff can grow on you....
Emperor IX Equilibrium got me into it back in 2000. Was big into Thrash and Swedish death metal (favorite was Dismember) back in the 90s. BM is by-far my favorite genre now and Emperor is still at the top of my list.
Many of these albums also got me into the genre, but I'll never forgot the first time I heard Emperor's 'I am the Black Wizards', and everything... just clicked. Great taste, sir! For me, Storm of the Light's Bane is only superficially a 'death metal' album. Its intention, its atmosphere and spirit are wholly Black Metal.
So happy to see Dawn in this video. I stumbled upon "Nær sólen gar niþer for evogher" when I was about 18 and it along with that EP remain favorites of mine.
Storm of the light‘s bane is my favorite album of all time. Nice to see someone worship it as much as I do. I never get tired of this album. You have shown so many albums that also got me into BM in 1996. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Glad to hear you mention Heaven Shall Burn by Marduk man, my favorite album by them as well. Absolute classic. GLORIFICATION OF THE BLACK GOD! But... no Gorgoroth?

Anthems is by far their best, love the album cover..also showed live they could not re-create their work, not the Gods people portray them to be, also know too many stories about them and their unsuccessful tour of the US So many bands from the early-mid 90's and it was all perfected by Watain..just me. Does your copy of Battles in the North have the correct track listing? I have a 2013 jewel case release and the tracklisting does not match the order on the disc. It's a little annoying. Mayhem's "De Mysteriis" is the ultimate bm icon. The other choices are obviously personal and coherent with the time you started listening to bm, most are good. Immortal wise, I'm always a sucker for "Pure Holocaust". By the way, ATG was never bm, and Carcass predates that type of sound at least 4 years.
Great picks!! I understand you feeling about Varg man... Very influential, but he is a complete idiot and a narcissist, to say the least. It's like he constantly tries to fit his views into some frame, every time he discovers something new. And the entire reason for his hate is just juvenile. If you ask me, many of these guys, they were just kids who didn't understand lots of things. But yeah, the music is something that really changed metal and opened up an entire new world of possibilities. Speaking of problem, I have the same problem with Inquisition. I believe we all know who and what Dagon is... The band Inquisition doesn't touch these subjects, but I'll be dead before I give this "man" my money. And the fact that he tries to hide these facts like a rat makes it even worse. Which is a big problem in BM... Some of the most talented bands out there are full of people who are bunch of filth, to say the least.
Quit being such a sensitive cry baby!! Would you like varg better if he was anti white and caught his son playing with a doll so he assumed he was transgender and started him on female hormones?? Most men with any sense of pride and honor and a relatively high testosterone level is gonna think like varg.
Your a weenie, so we should never seperate the art from the artist?? So every painter poet musician sculpture etc should be analyzed for any wrong think and canceled no matter how exceptional the art is? You are the problem
@@kremasag6612 soooo having pride in ones heritage and not wanting to race mix is racist?? I guess I don’t fucking get it, I don’t understand the modern leftist thinking or even normal centrist thinking, it’s just so feminine and weak to me, our ancestors tamed the west and created a perfect foundation for its children only for them to be brainwashed by leftist media and academia into guilt feelings and self loathing and now to give away your birth right is truly just weak to me
1) Bathory: Necromansy 2) Burzum; Det Som en Gang Var 3) Immortal: Cold Winds of Funeral Dust 4) Gorgoroth: Drommer om Dod 5) Marduk: La Grande Danse Macabre 6) Mercyful Fate: Satan's Fall 7) Nightbringer: Rite of the Slaying Tongue 8) Ragnarok: For the World I Am Blinded 9) Sargeist: Heretic Iron Will 10: Behexen: Sota valon jumalaa vastaan 11) Akhlys: The Dreaming Eye 12) Amestigon: Demiurg 13) Aosoth: An Arrow in Heart 14) Arckanum: Kamps Tekn 15) Behemoth: Antichristian Phenomenon 16) Blut aus Nord: What Once Was... Thanks. That's some sick list of albums you put there. I'm just going through them and discoverig what I didnt know yet. In the meantime, check out Covenant - Nexus Polaris, I'm willing to bet you'll want to add it to the list :-)
Do you know anybody that has atheist unquestionable presence on cassette? If so I wouldn't mind buying it.I wish they would start selling music on cassettes, just because they last so long and are durable. Also Is there a member of carcass with brujeria.Kinda weird considering they talk about killing whites. His face behind bandana looked like Jeff.
I would say that Tara was my entry point into Absu, and that came out about 5 years after I had gotten into black metal. Summoning, well I've always preferred Abigor to Summoning.
Nice list dude some great albums 🐐🐐🐐

Blizzard beasts is really awesome, one of my favourites from immortal, you really feel the coldness
Dimmu Borgir’s Stormbläst re-release was the first album that got me into Black Metal.
That was my gateway into Symphonic Metal of all kinds.
18:18 yup it has a strange haunting classiness. So innovative. THAT is the album that introduced me to extreme music
Blizzard Beasts is an awesome and terrible underated album.
Agreed!
Love Immortal. This was my gateway band into Black Metal.
Thank you brainsmasher my metal journey has taken many crooked paths down many dark forbidding roads. Thanks for adding some stops to the map.

@@bubbaharrod2530 Does it take high testosterone for one to be racist?
Your a weenie, so we should never seperate the art from the artist?? So every painter poet musician sculpture etc should be analyzed for any wrong think and canceled no matter how exceptional the art is? You are the problem
@@kremasag6612 soooo having pride in ones heritage and not wanting to race mix is racist?? I guess I don’t fucking get it, I don’t understand the modern leftist thinking or even normal centrist thinking, it’s just so feminine and weak to me, our ancestors tamed the west and created a perfect foundation for its children only for them to be brainwashed by leftist media and academia into guilt feelings and self loathing and now to give away your birth right is truly just weak to me
@@bubbaharrod2530 To each their own. You can do whatever you wish... I'm not like that. The artists I support, I truly do, on more than one level.

Mind if I do a version of this too?
The Abyssal Archivist please do!
Unfortunately I can't show off many CDs of such albums because of my abysmal (ha) budget.
The Abyssal Archivist lol your not true kvlt if you don't have the original release cds!
IKR???
Aaaand I made the video :P
What's the intro music?
Its the theme song from NBC Football.
Thanks. That's some sick list of albums you put there. I'm just going through them and discoverig what I didnt know yet. In the meantime, check out Covenant - Nexus Polaris, I'm willing to bet you'll want to add it to the list :-)
I used to own a copy of that album but I got sick of it. I listened to it the other day and I still dont really like it much. Its pretty goofy.
Very good band. Only about Judas Iscariot
I'm upset no summoning or absu.
I would say that Tara was my entry point into Absu, and that came out about 5 years after I had gotten into black metal. Summoning, well I've always preferred Abigor to Summoning.
14:06 .... are those two hugging?
Thats trve kvlt as shit
lol awesome intro
NICE beard :)
Check out BEHERIT
duh
Good list, but Hagl Varg.
Black metal roolz
12:24
Cradle of filth wasn't black metal. Well maybe they where . But nowadays they sound nothing like black metal
Carcass
Ahahah, kinder!. Welcome to 2003 year ))))
Nobody is interested about that everybody knows. And some of this bands and lps are trash.
Cradle of filth is really not black metal but more of a Gothic extreme metal
