The fact that this is even a question proves that bike prices are still out of control.
They went to the Alps and interviewed people who'd flown in from all over the world to go mountain biking.
If anything I'm surprised how normal a lot of these jobs are!

No job, 10k bike, on holidays in Morzine - guess I'm doing something wrong 😂
The bike is just one thing, add travel, acommodation and above all, time - not just for the actual ride at a resort, but also for keeping fit.
This explains why most software and apps don't function as they should, thr managers are all on holiday.
From my (now reasonably long) experience, it is actually better when project managers are on holiday than when they are not. 😄
I'm a safe engineer locksmith , & professional bassist , locked gates on bike packing trips are not an issue .

I work as handyman and I own a full sus Vitus Sommet 2020! What a bike! 🔥 27.5" wheels, Fox and Hope components! 🤘
Studying in college now and I've built myself a bike using the sommet 297 frame 2022 by doing some part-time job. What a wonderful bike
77 retired, 2015 giant xtc 27.5 bought new, updated to mavic rims and tubeless still shredding,it used to be called singletrack ln the 80s,do i need one of these new fangled machines ,YES I Do 😎
I work in a factory in Manchester, UK. I have a Haibike AllMtn 7. With the upgrades and the tracker fitted, it cost me almost 5 times my monthly salary. And everyone is laughing at me for being so stupid with money.

Kross Esker 2.0 MC, about 1000 euro, I live in Poland and work in a museum. I know, I know. This is a gravel bike. I just wanted to give a perspective of someone passionate about bikes but earning really low money. And if someone has doubts, those low earnings have more to do with working in a museum than with living in Poland. Still, I love my job.

Biking and skiing are similar as to the appropriation of gear; you've got your hard core wealthy who buy off the top shelf each year then trade- usually to scavenging shop rats and their ski bum friends (who then ride their trophies until they turn to paste)- industry folks who scored some sort of salesman's demo, closeout or freebie, and your normal upper income weekenders and rich kids. The poor folks running the lifts, working the restaurants, and cleaning the rooms aren't riding anything but the bus that brought them there...
I live in a ski town and nearly every liftie rides. Why do you think we live here and work at resorts? ;)

I can’t help but notice the number of riders wearing body armor and no elbow pads.
I was surprised to see almost everyone wearing roost guards, but not full body protection. Are the roost guards now obligatory there?
Definitely not obligatory but also elbow pads don't do anything, just annoy you while you're riding then slip up your arms when you crash. Knee pads and helmet are the one 👌
@@trialsted I use G-Form Pro Rugged 2 pads, they never move and, while a little warm on a hot day, they’re comfortable and have saved my 56 year old elbows several times…the older you get the more you appreciate good pads.
Same for me. Just gets too hot to wear elbow pads too.
My main trail bike is only worth 4.29% the cost of my car.
In other words I'm seriously underbiked 😂

Both my bikes brandnew are 33% of my car, plot twist car is only 30k

my frame looks similar 🤘decathlon rockrider am 50 s - replaced every stock part besides the fork, shock & cranks- i upgraded the whole transmission, braking system & rims with a dt swiss 240EXP 54T ratchet literally everything. now i think about the next fully frame to put all my parts on and slaughter the current. my buddy kinda introduced me into being a bike mechanic@@Ericxnugz
