Too bad I can only give one like. This needs multiple. Done some tai ch'i back in the day when I was young and handsome. Long time ago therefore, but this certainly struck a cord. Thank you for the reminder!
Awesome. I love it 😁 For stringing the bow, I never dared do the conventional step through method with my Kheshig. I do the reversed method. So to speak. Placing the bottom limb above my knee, and bending forward to string. This just feels safer for me. As for the movement, it is just natural. In martial arts but also in every day activities, move from your hip. It's stronger this way. With the hips leading the movements you are using your whole body. In archery we mostly use back muscles, but when you lead with the hips, you need less energy to shoot.
Bravo Armin - wonderful stuff! This just reinforces my belief that the more you learn, the more you need to learn. I can see how archery really is a martial art - it's a whole-body exercise that works as one. Every now and then I get to know how that feels!!
Excellent video, health and posture- too true but often forgot in the modern world because we have ceased to look at ourselves as whole entities, but as an assemblage of isolated components. I also believe strength training into throughout life and into old age is vital for health, too often there is an over emphasis on endurance. We need to train in the round.
Nice knowing how to fix a bow if I ever get a warped siyah, though I don't plan on doing the step through method the wrong way! And good explanation about the body mechanics for the khatra, you can also use the same movements for the other styles of release. As for relationships, get yourself someone who cares as much about you as Armin does for Khatra.
Just wanted to thank you for this one. Just received one from Alibow and after stringing I noticed it was not straight and I was very worried that I would not be able to shoot it safely. Then I checked to see if you had any video on it and you have. I did as you showed and it worked well and was easy. Also, I now know to be very careful when using the step through method to keep the limbs straight. I am still working on using Khatra, just need more practice.
Usually happens with those thin fiberglass/fiberglass and veneer ones too, although more heavyweight biocomposite ones are also prone to twisting (it's not usually noticeable outright so it's good to check limb alignment after stringing). I've never seen it happen to a laminated wooden and mixed composite constructions (synthetic belly+sinew for example) but perhaps that's a coincidence. Oh, also bows with long siyahs protruding strongly forward do have a stronger tendency for twisting according to some bowmakers Cheers!
Not only martial arts use the tantien as a focus for motion. Martha Graham dance technique uses the same 'spiralling ' motion as a principal of movement ... each component of motion comes from the centre and as a result is more natural (I'm not an expert on Graham technique, but I did study it for a while ... 30+ years ago)
Recently I had this issue with my bow, the limbs got twisted for some reason. I was thinking it might have been my stringing technic, or a bad pull that crooked them. I wasnt sure how to fix it and without any guide I didnt dare to attempt so I wont cause some more damage. Going to try this, thanks for the info again. What could cause the bow itself to bend? Was I right about the stringing or pulling?
Armin, Very much enjoying your addition of discussion and instruction of the Tao of your archery! Perhaps consider creating a channel teaching tai ch'i? I imagine you would have some success. :)
Thank you for the tutorial my friend. I wondered what you did with the hun bow from jackal, I figured you kept it. He he, how is it holding up I've thought about ordering one but you initially scared me with it. But I think I'm ready for an experience that it will give me. How do you still feel about it? Thank you my friend.
@@ArminHirmer no more khatra like a wild animal? Haha if you're serious though I'll send you my email address for the price if you don't have it anymore. Just to own a bow shot by you would be an honor. And you'd have to sign it for me.
I never had a twisted bow, but I sometimes get the notion that with a trickier one I would. It sometimes seems like the bottom sear is forced, and if I want to find an angle in which it doesn't, the upper sear is quite far from me, it becomes hard to string it...
ARMIN!!! The New Patrick Swayze' Dirty Dancing II'? "Nobody....puts KHATRA in the corner"!🤣🤣 So what you are telling me....I had KHATRA when I was a Young Boy? I thought it was "MOM AH, I really need to go pee". aka...PP dance. Who knew?😎 On serious note--- Nicely explained,Sir
Just me, I don't want to fix a bow ,I don't need or want to build a bow I don't want to watch someone shoot a bow or listen to someone tell how great he is I just want to know where to buy a bow put the companies number and address and phone no. On your show I'll take care of the rest , and share this with the rest of the rest of people on u tube , have a nice day and thanks......
I've just had an interesting thought sifu Armin.... it's further to bow stringers ... many Asiatic bow makers provide a bow sleeve when supplying a bow ... my alibow one has a pocket in it to also act as a waist quiver.... if a reinforced mini pocket was put in the other end ... the bow sleeve could also be a bow stringer... it should be long enough and the cloth shouldnt stretch , so bow sleeve doubles as quiver and stringer.

Hi! Mr.Armin !✌😀absolutely nice info. Thanks, I'll keep practicing. this helps a lot to
whole body and mental health🙏
You quite often provide more insights than one expects. Some real gems. Thank you.

Having studied martial arts for well over 30 years, i cannot tell you how much this video has helped my archery! Absolutely crucial information.
Thank you sir great information, and that’s also just great exercise 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for the important details.

It seems to me that no matter the age to perform this fluid movement. It can help my arthritis. There are mornings I feel old. thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for yet another great tutorial!
That was excellent God he reminds me of my old teachers master Dung and ,master Bing. My question where does the inhale and exhale happen?
Did a video about breathing a while ago
Btw, this is a really good one from you, Armin! Thank you!
thank you for this tutelage Master
What's the best way to repair scratches on bow limbs?
Excellent tutorial.

Mostly wrong stringing technique, sometimes bad build quality

I can send you mine if you want :) still a great bow, but once you see it snap - you shoot with more awareness :D

Fundamentals. You can't beat it.
Good to know.I don't want a bow like that.

Not sure why, but your usage of the word "wiggly" amused me
... with stringing a bow ... You could always use a bow stringer..
It doesn't look as cool but you will string it without twisting the bow.
