Very true. You know what sucks? Some protesters or college student organization out there isn't satisfied with the US constritution. They rather have socialism. So they start riots. And that's sad they don't realize how lucky they are.
Unfortunately it may not be free for very much longer. The general population has become weak in both mind and physical ability. We are under the rule of a unelected senile man. We are told that we can only go outside with friends and family when we comply with their demands. It’s been over a year that we’ve been locked down and it won’t end until we put our foot down and say enough is enough. #EndTheLockdown #MarchForFreedom
There's areas of this country that are just as bad as this: Appalachia, slum areas in our largest cities, Harlem in NY, many areas in the deep south. There's people that starve here as well. Those who've visited these areas know first hand what isn't talked about in this country: poverty equal to that in NK. And let's not forget our enormous homeless population. As sad as things are in NK, let's not forget, charity is desperately needed in the USA as well. We don't live under a dictatorship, but those here living in grinding poverty are just as trapped.

After watching her earlier videos we commonly comfort each other after a rough day by saying "At least you live in the land of the free and the home of the unlimited Oreos". Her Oreo obsession melted our hearts.
I don’t think it’s how rich we are, I think it’s how poor THEY are. They’re literally stuck in time and suffering cuz of Kim. I hate that man with a passion with what he’s doing to his own citizens. China is also a major contributor to this.

Even my grandparents describe going out to post letters or going to the village head's house to use the phone or travelling to the nearby village and sometimes even the city to meet family members... At least they had hope, they could see and envision a wider world and better future even if they didnt have it themselves yet. i cant imagine living like they do in North Korea, no hope for a different life, nothing better to look forward to, just mere survival taking up all physical and mental strength even in this day and age

200 down votes here shows opinions vary. Unbelievable.
The thing is not about us complaining about silly things but that this people should have that right too. They should have the same life that we have
@@tiagoassasins7690 true, but it seems silly to complain about a messed up Starbucks order for example when this could be our life. We just rolled the dice and landed in a free western society. Not that we dont have our own hardships, or that it is perfect, but it's good to realise your life could be a lot worse and thank God it isnt
It's always amazing to see how the human spirit lives on even in the hardest conditions... It's easy to think of North Koreans as numbers but they are all people who live and think and talk and love every day. I think it's just as important for people to see the human side as it is for them to see the tragedy.
It’s a real priviledge seeing these videos. Thank you, Yeonmi.
Thanks you Yeonmi for giving me something else to be grateful for.
And the fact that NK has an enormous wealth of minerals just to be extracted is just heartbreaking.
NC?
I think Mc Chicken meant NK
@@bishop51807 they're probably spanish.
Well, not heartbreaking if you are China. Great opportunity for China.
@@fortusvictus8297 True, China is going to steal it all right under their noses.
I’m literally crying watching this I’m British and live in the uk and I thought the uk was bad but this makes me so grateful to be here I really hope the North Korean people will be set free one day
You thought the UK was bad? You must be in one hell of a crappy situation if you think we’ve got it bad here with welfare benefits, the health care available, education and a government that doesn’t shoot you or put you in a labour camp.
@@leedsman54 there are loads of people in the U.K. in a bad situation, read what I said , it’s called people realise how good they have it I never said anything less

@@Cocochantelle you should see some of the rough areas what people live in
@@Cocochantelle so some people have rough lives and uk is certainly not the best in the world but no way not the worst so it makes me grateful
Thank you for sharing this Yeonmi. You kept mentioning this was a rich town. It would be interesting to see videos of a "poor" town. I can't imagine since this is already so heartbreaking.
Riiiiiiight
A rich town but the children can't go to school.
You can find people living like that in Haiti, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, Niger, Nigeria, Burundi, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Indonesia, Argentina, Colombia and even South Korea and Japan
TQ YP for showing the world how the more privileged class are living under such difficult conditions.
And to the ones who took this video at great risk to their live & that of their family.
YP once again, very much appreciated
If this is the 3rd richest city, how does their GDP allow them to find a military and produce nuclear weapons?
@@IAmAlmightyGod the government essentially runs on slave labor, its the citizens who are poor, not the dictatorship.
My heart goes out to these people. Can't imagine the suffering they're going through.
This breaks my heart.. I hope these people can know freedom one day..
why does it break your heart? because they live simpler lives and dont need to overcomplicate them? it seems like a normal rural lifestyle.
This isn’t a normal lifestyle, it’s a hopeless life where they have no choices. They have no freedom to decide for themselves what life they lead, I wouldn’t call that a simpler life, especially if it’s by force. People are not free in North Korea.
@@9core educate yourself please
The thing is, why do women get pregnant and give birth to children in North Korea if it's so bad there. They surely know that if they give birth, they subject their children to the same conditions that they despise. And in that sense they are almost subjecting themselves to the conditions they face. If they want to protest, they can protest as a nation by not giving birth to children so the nation collapses and then kim jong un might give af

I’m gonna buy your book real soon because I want to know more about what life is like in North Korea through the eyes of a North Korean. You are so beautiful and strong, Yeonmi. Don’t ever stop doing what your doing!😊
Thank you so much for sharing this video and giving it a narration, and of course a huge thank you to whoever filmed it. It is so powerful to see this, the side of North Korea the regime wants to hide.
Seeing this video and listening to your soft voice describing the life in NK made me cry.
I love when you post footage like this and narrate it
It's absolutely heart breaking that there are people living like this while also made to worship their dictator like he is some almighty God and provider of all they could ask for. Kudos and God Speed to the person who filmed this. Please stay safe!
I wish in future they will able to over come this situation , and will see a beautiful world outside them .. 😭 They're really surviving so hard.
If their govt can be over thrown then they have a chance
@@CalebsCars the problem is, most have unwavering dedication to the regime. Either because that's all they know or because they're too afraid to step out of it. They are truly brain washed by the regime. I hope one day they can over throw the government. These folks that live there are human beings who are born in north korea by no choice of their own. They deserve a better life!
I say this all the time, that people from other countries who come to America, love and appreciate this country more then we do. I know a guy who came here from Pakistan, he recently became a citizen, he loves this country more then anyone I know! He's all about America and American freedom. Americans who were born and raised here (myself included) need to be way more grateful for what we have rather then bitching about the small things. And we bitch about things that other countries don't have the privilege to experience.
They don’t even know what hope is 😢. That is so profound
This breaks my heart! 💔
Question, the boarder towns can see into China, so how do people feel when they look over the river and see more modern things?
They might not, China still has large parts of it living not much better than the North Koreans.
@@livewyr7227 but for those who can see...
@menkrep1337 that's how we see China
In many democracies when a Government's economic system leaves people in hardship the people vote them out but sadly in North Korea the people don't even have that option.
Thank you so much for sharing this. We all need to know how North Koreans live and support you in any way we can.
We cant do anything sadly
You are definitely an inspiration! I don't comment much on videos like this, but I just wanted to say that. I hope that the knowledge you share of North Korea help us understand what life is like there and how we can help North Korea. I took Korean classes because I love the culture, but I also wanted to know how people's lifestyles in both North Korea and South Korea differed. This video is heartbreaking to watch, but it's informative and hopefully, this can help people understand or help in some degree.
Very interesting to see videos from outside of Pyongyang, scary that this is one of the richest cities
it's literally like my hometown where I'm living.. Except they don't have internet, electricity, and vehicles 😭 it's very sad.. The world is too unfair
The more I watch videos of North Korea, my heart breaks and I am reminded of Suga's *Daechwita* . Someday, this tyranny shall end.
