Power and Free conveyors are also called asynchronous conveyors. This type of conveyor consists of a two track system and is considered asynchronous due to the fact that the loads hanging below the track can move at two different paces. In addition, the loads can be programmed to stop and start independently or to change tracks when required. The name power and free comes from the unique track configuration -- there is a powered chain running in a powered track and below this there are free trolleys which run in a lower track.
Watch this video to see a detailed demonstration of how a power and free conveyor works. The enclosed track power and free conveyor system shown here has the ability to carry loads in a slot down or slot up (inverted power and free) orientation. Non-synchronous or asynchronous power and free conveying is very useful in material handling applications such as: paint lines where products need to be routed to multiple spray booths or where accumulation in an oven or elsewhere is required also in assembly lines or work in process where non-synchronous movement is needed.

@wastedsaw There certainly is. You can use several approaches, all of which involve the use of electrical controls and pneumatics. A product being carried can have a barcode, RF ID tag, or other such identifier attached and when the item reaches a decision point (a switch, or a stop) the item's ID is relayed to the brains of the system (a PLC, computer or logic device) and a signal is sent back to theconveyor to say "stop that product here" or "divert that product now" .

    Hello Pacline Overhead Conveyors
At my company we are having issues with trollies being pushed by the trolley behind.
My opinion is that the tail of the flapper is starting to get a flat-spot (versus smooth radius) making disengagement from the drive dog more difficult when it hits the leading trolley. Results in an audible "CLICK"
This has caused chain tension at lock-out points and eventual failure (overload) at VFD controller.
Please advise if you have other ideas.

Good news. i wonder if there is a trolley system that can drop the product at a certain point or address?

Exciting. I could use this kind of tracking system on my both powder coating cabins and I can have them placed parallel and increase OEE levels of the paintshop.
The question is, for each set of tracks, how much weight they can withstand? and what is the maximum possible gap between two tracks?I have parts starting from palm sized with a couple of hundreds of grams, to wide an long (100cmx300cm) up to 15 kilograms.

Hi, our conveyors have industrial ratings suitable for the automotive industry.
The load carrying trolleys have 100 kg per trolley rating which is more than robust enough for your application.
The yellow bar (called a loadbar) is attached to 2 trolleys which would give you 200 kgs per loadbar (or 100 kg per trolley x 2 = 200 kg)!

Hello. Congratulation. If the conveyor has decline Do you use the same trolley? How does work when the load is faster that track power? (decline)

Hi Jose, for safety, the Power and Free conveyor is designed so that the trolley cannot accumulate on inclines and declines, therefore the inclines and declines have tight track (no accumulation) where the pusher dog is engaged further into the trolley flappers so that the trolley cannot disengage from the power chain pusher dog. Hope this answers your question!

I am looking for a small system that I can use for training similar like this one even smaller. How can I get a price?
