While being chased by my uncle he ran up several flights of stairs and turned around and took a swing at my uncle and my uncle ducked under his swing and at as the guy rounded one of the landings on the stairs my uncle was able to hit the guy in the neck and face with a direct shot of his pepper spray. It barely affected the guy and he was still completely able to continue running up the stairs, still able to breathe, he could see where he was going, no problem. He was essentially unfazed by the pepper spray. Long story short, the guy did end up getting caught and after the whole ordeal my uncle was talking to him in the station about what he's been through and the guy got to joking with my uncle about the pepper spray, how he's eaten extremely spicy foods his whole life, since he was a kid growing up in Mexico where his family were farmers who grew all kinds of peppers and sold them for a living, and he said the pepper spray was nothing compared to some of the crazy peppers he's always enjoyed. I miss episodes like this... just guys being guys.. not being scared of everything, willing to be the guinea pigs. Love it! This and the gas mask episode are my all time favorites
its pretty obvious its supposed to be a non lethal weapon, that is the reason why they put it there, because if they didnt, you would see the lawsuits come in very quickly when they start shooting these at bachelor partys and simular..
Well, the spine is protected in the front by the ribcage, so aiming center of mass should be fine. Besides, whatever it says about being non-lethal, the correct designation for a weapon like that is still only "less-lethal."
Yeah, agreed. Quite frankly I'd be quick to use a real small arm on an intruder if the intruder was armed and dangerous, so the main thing I'm interested in with the "non-lethal" (less-lethal) pepper spray gun is its sheer stopping potential. If you miss, it can still stop them in spades. You could even stop them if they are hiding around a corner. That, I think, it pretty neat, not the fact that it isn't supposed to be lethal. It's the perfect indoors self-defense weapon.
Riles Mattix Or follow steps 2-4 and skip step one, since after all you (hopefully) won't put holes in your sheet rock with the aforementioned pepper gun, and you can incapacitate an intruder without direct line of sight fire. Agreed that it's certainly not suitable to completely replace a trusty small arm/side arm.
So I spent 11 minutes watching this... immediately after I pressed replay and now I'm watching another 11 minutes. Damn you so entertaining Brian and Jason.
Well here's my speculation Misjudge a situation worse case scenario Real gun = murder charge, dead relative/friend This thing = minor assault charge, funny story Well judged situation Real gun = trouble dead with a tiniest risk of a revenge episode from troubles loved one This thing = trouble arrested, probably won't return for more pepper when freed instead, will likely pick a potentially softer target next time
The Modern Rogue Okay Dad, but next time buy a second one so we can see if you're able to shoot back, or if this actually doesn't work as an effective defense weapon.
Homeless Canadian Not how the UK works. Has to be 50% or more bright colours and not lime green due to that being taser colour. Even then though, people would question the realism in design. S. Quint You have to be accurate enough to hit something within ~15 feet of the target. Indoors thats easy but wide open spaces make it less effective.
You guys know you can buy a spray bottle of OC neutralizing solution, right? By the way I wouldn't recommend this for home defense or any indoor use at all really. For home defense the less exotic hollow point 9mm or .45 cal are much better suited for the task. Short of that and trying to stay non-lethal, I would prefer a Remington 870 12ga. loaded with salt pellets or pepper flakes over OC paintball rounds propelled by CO2 (which may or may not still hold pressure after being stored for a few months). A pump action shotgun sounds like "get the fuck out of this building immediately" no matter what language you speak. It's international.
I agree, but up here in Canada, if you don't have an FAC or PAL as is now called, you cannot get a firearm....... so this may be a good option. Cheers!
rentacow Old comment but I figured I should point out, the first trigger pull has to be a double squeeze. Initial one pierces the co2, second fires a round. Co2 catridige is unpierced until that initial pull so you could store for a decent while.
I can see 2 immediate problems with this - First, if someone is willing to break into your house while you're home, they're either crazy, armed or both. - For someone truly crazy, this is just gunna piss them off. - For someone armed, they're gunna try and plug you immediately after you've pulled a realistic looking gun on them, and you've likely just blinded them. Second, in close quarters, you've likely just blinded yourself too. Good job. However, in countries where it's illegal to defend yourself, this is probably better than nothing.
idk being blinded and unable to breath properly would probably put a pretty big hamper on someones ability to shoot me. Especially if they just got shit kicked out of them by 7 heavy paintballs to the upper torso and potentially exposed face. I'd still take a shotgun over this but ya gotta give credit where its due
@@milesmccall2301 i mean i agree, but your underestimating pepper spray massively, it doesn't just go away. they didn't get a fraction of how bad it really is. you cant breath, see, or really move in a coherent fashion at all. i have to agree with the modern rouge on this one, massively effective as a deterrent while also being non lethal. pepper spray isn't like a jalapeno, and it can cause a whole number of effects, remember they didn't get hit by the pepper spray fully.
@PiK so not only are you going to get the weapon and load it you are also going to fiddle with a mask and goggles and hope that takes a small enough time to still be able to deal with the intruder?
I feel like this would be completely useless in a home defense situation as since most rooms are tight fit or the bed is close to the door and it would also blind the people using the gun and also in the beginning he said it was non-lethal but the side effects might include death so why not just use a regular gun
@@CarlSWlike I already said it can cause death . Death=Lethal plus what if the burglar uses a mask which covers up their nose or glasses which cover up their eyes which would just create a sheet of pepper spray in your room
Yeah, you'd be better off getting a real, hopperfed, paintball gun and a bag of marbles. When firing less lethal, more shots are always better, without exception
Jacob Staten yeah. My point was simply that they are not non lethal. They are still deadly weapons and not toys. It’s a matter of the handler and the adrenaline of the victim. It’s dumb. Tazers max range is 15 ft. I would never trust my life with a max range of 15 ft and a effectiveness of
"Where are we supposed to shoot then? these rounds are meant to be shot at the ceiling above the enemy, if you shoot someone in the chest you wont get the full blinding effect because all the substance is on their shirt not in their eyes, shoot at the ceiling and pepper spray rains down on their face and will definitely get in their eyes
Saw a ton of comments like "Just buy a real gun and kill somebody" Just because you ruined your puberty playing CoD doesn't mean killing another human gets easier.
I don’t think it’s about taking a human life but rather why would I use this over a firearm if you’re confused why I wouldn’t buy it look at my comment
oh, no: they totally acknowledge it. Again: it was pretty much the first thing they said in the instruction book. They seem pretty straight-up about the whole thing.
I'm sure that's to cover the massively increased liability of supporting it's intended use. Tippman won't support the weapon being used this way at all, and if something breaks or goes wrong, they'll just tell you "our guns aren't for that." Personally, I think it's worth the extra $100 to get the support rather than cobble together your own solution, but I wouldn't blame you for doing it on the cheap.
at my great uncles house I found slingshot rounds that were glass and contained ammonia. these were like from the 50's r something. getting hit by a glass ball full of ammonia should rank as a really bad projectile to get hit with also. I don't know if they still make them.
Fully loaded SEMI automatic dude, very important destinction. just auto, if you hold the trigger it keeps firing more bullets. Semi auto is one trigger pull is one bullet down range, so you have to intentionally fire every round.
Really... why is this video age restricted, I've watched it when it first came out and it wasn't age restricted then so why is it now; also I'm a huge fan and I love the videos.
You can do that, and then buy the ammo separately. You don't save much money (the ammo is the expensive part, not the gun), and then you instantly void the warranty by using the tipx with non-approved ammo. I don't recommend that.
You can buy the Tipx with 20 pepperballs and warranty from Tippman for 289.00, they market the gun now themselves for self defense. There are also plenty of suppliers that sell tubes of 10 pepperballs for 20-30 bucks tops per tube. All Salt did was just license, rebrand and market the guns/ammo for self defense and mark it up for a nice profit.
this at close range is REALLY DANGEROUS!!! i can imagine you shooting at an intruder and then becoming incapacitated as you get pepper spray in your eyes.
The Modern Rogue so you're telling me if i shoot someone 3ft away i wont feel the pepper spray at all, but they are going to collapse and start cursing? Especially in a closed, non ventilated area like a hallway, thanks to diffusion its going to spread outward as soon as it impacts your intruder. unless you immediately cover your face, you too will feel the pepper spray after shooting a couple of these at the bad guy. you're not immune to pepperspray just because you aren't the one breaking in. be safe and smart with these things.
The Modern Rogue you have yet to show your audience proof otherwise. In your video i watched the powder poof out and spread around after hitting that plywood. Im not stating it as fact, i clearly stated it was my imagination, but im just using what i know about fine powders, confined spaces, and high velocity projectiles to conclude that the gun shooter would be affected by a cloud of pepper spray too at very close range. im not a fucking idiot. How about you make a video of you shooting a wall 3 ft away in a small room to prove your claim? :D
A lot of these comments are negative, but guns scare the hell out of me and aren't legal where I live so having this as an option puts me at ease. Thank you guys for demoing it!
This is over priced and any paintball gun or rifle can shoot pepper balls. Shop around on Amazon and you will find all different calibers of pepper balls for paint ball guns as well as non-lethal rubber rounds.
The cheaper alternative to that would be a HDR revolver made by T4E and Umarex. 6 shots instead of 7, cheap "oreo" clips and also has the ability to store a C02 cartridge not pierced (I assume the SALT gun has the same feature). It's also a lot cheaper (around $100 from Amazon) and probably more reliable

Spyglass These are not like airsoft guns. They're shooting bigger projectiles. If they do shoot that fast, there is a chance it could fail as a less than lethal gun and just be another gun. It could collapse lungs or even cause internal organ damage. Even trazer projectiles move at a low speed
Spyglass I can see why. I prefer something unique. Like taser rounds off of Splinter Cell or tranquilizer rounds from Metal Gear. It may be fantasy but if you think about it, it would be more effective. Not an unlabeled paintball gun which can be questionably labeled a violation of copyright laws.
No, this is actually is referring to the loading system of it. It is still technically fully automatic, but a slightly less confusing term could be auto loading.
@@ryderhouser2944 incorrect, the automatic part of automatic pistol refers to how a round is loaded automatically, rather than those old revolvers that require the hammer to be cocked back every shot
Not really. Military reliability tests are quiet stringent and many weapons wouldn't pass them to that end military grade means "just the tip" its just enough to get the job done but it's almost always a disappointment.
The life of a person threatening your family shouldn't be your priority once they've put YOU and YOUR FAMILY in danger. At that point it's about PROTECTION, like you said. You use this thing inside of a house and that pepper spray will hit you, too. Me? I prefer reliability over variability. That's why I have a shotgun. I understand that guns are not legal everywhere, but I'd rather use a baseball bat than this piece of shit.
then why does the title say semi-auto. It's not a big deal and yes they can be mixed up internationally but semi auto handguns are commonly called semi autos and automatics are called automatic handguns or machine pistols. The only reason I brought this up in here in california just saying the words automatic will get DOJ ATF knocking at your door
As I understand it, any pistol that auto-loads the next round is an "automatic" (as opposed to a revolver), and within "automatic," there's subcategories of "full-auto" (keeps shooting as long as the trigger is depressed) and "semi-auto" (one bullet per pull of the trigger). I **think** this is why we call it a 9MM automatic?
They guys at whatareyoubuyen did a test to see if the guy could still fight after they got hit. they used a form baton. long story short the gun sucked.
Maybe something like this *can be used to stop school shootings?* Like the teaches have one (or more?) gun safe somewhere (office? classroom? :s ) that they can reach in an emergency? So even if a kid somehow manages to steal this gun it can't be used for a massacre & it's readily available when more serous situations demand it.
It would be a good first line option. The problem with peperballs, paintballs, or rubber balls is that they can sprial out of control fast, and then the adult has to expose themself, which honestly most adults that confront school shooters do it without any defensive option so it might help.
I doubt this would stop anything Plus all the same anti gun rhetoric would be used not to allow teachers to have them because kids could take them away from the teachers and they don't have proper training all that kind of stuff
No. If someone is using lethal means, you respond with the same. If there is someone armed with a gun and you come at em with a toy pepper spray gun, you're most likely going to die. These are just simple facts.
I seen someone say that that would break your ribs and put a hole in your skin lmao it's made to do the opposite of that even beanbag rounds on shotguns don't do that..... all the time
So, when the Salt pistol fails to defend their customer and if they survive they'll be coming after the company with a real gun and they will be defending themselves with pepper balls.

I miss episodes like this... just guys being guys.. not being scared of everything, willing to be the guinea pigs. Love it! This and the gas mask episode are my all time favorites
Instructions - do no aim at face or spine
How is this supposed to be used then?
its pretty obvious its supposed to be a non lethal weapon, that is the reason why they put it there, because if they didnt, you would see the lawsuits come in very quickly when they start shooting these at bachelor partys and simular..
It's the perfect indoors self-defense weapon.
step 1: throw away or sell on eBay
step 2: go to gun store
step 3: buy shotgun, pistol, hunting rifle, or an assault rifle
step 4: use that instead.
Riles Mattix
Or follow steps 2-4 and skip step one, since after all you (hopefully) won't put holes in your sheet rock with the aforementioned pepper gun, and you can incapacitate an intruder without direct line of sight fire. Agreed that it's certainly not suitable to completely replace a trusty small arm/side arm.
So I spent 11 minutes watching this... immediately after I pressed replay and now I'm watching another 11 minutes. Damn you so entertaining Brian and Jason.
yay! Our secret plan is working!!
Im stuck in an infinite loop too :'(
This is awesome, you can use it to disorient an attacker before dumping a mag of .45 into them.
Just buy a real gun if you want to actually protect yourself.
murica
RIP Harambe Fuck yeah
Well here's my speculation
Misjudge a situation worse case scenario
Real gun = murder charge, dead relative/friend
This thing = minor assault charge, funny story
Well judged situation
Real gun = trouble dead with a tiniest risk of a revenge episode from troubles loved one
This thing = trouble arrested, probably won't return for more pepper when freed instead, will likely pick a potentially softer target next time
All right, kids: take it to the gun club or whatever. Let's just talk about how awesome that episode was!
The Modern Rogue Okay Dad, but next time buy a second one so we can see if you're able to shoot back, or if this actually doesn't work as an effective defense weapon.
ill stick with old glock and mossberg for home defense lol
Lol no.
Shit like this isn't legal in developed countries.
+i made you read this No. If my country's police caught me with this I'd be dead before I even had chance to explain. It looks too real.
Put an orange tip on it
You don't have to be accurate with this thing, unlike an actual firearm
Homeless Canadian
Not how the UK works. Has to be 50% or more bright colours and not lime green due to that being taser colour. Even then though, people would question the realism in design.
S. Quint You have to be accurate enough to hit something within ~15 feet of the target. Indoors thats easy but wide open spaces make it less effective.
"You must observe the same precautions as you would with any firearm."
*Finger firmly on the trigger.*
I like it. Kinda makes me think of an offshoot of Mythbusters.

Ronald Macdonald thought the same!!

Ronald Macdonald maybe that's because Brian brusshwood is a magician
We've used diluted Maalox for that before... but also kinda wanted to suffer the full consequences on this one.
The heros UA-cam needs, but not the ones it deserves. :D Great videos, thanks!
rentacow I think in the ad they say you're supposed to shoot like the door or the wall so the intruder will be blinded when they walk through.
I can see 2 immediate problems with this -
First, if someone is willing to break into your house while you're home, they're either crazy, armed or both.
I guess there's just no counterargument to the right made-up scenario.
@@ModernRogue That's not some crazy hypothetical, this is literally the scenario you yourselves describe this gun as being useful for at around 10:30.
idk being blinded and unable to breath properly would probably put a pretty big hamper on someones ability to shoot me.
LoL players are completely resistant to salt guns
Dapix they are the salt gun
I think it's safe to say that whenever you're gonna be holding that gun on your home, a gas mask and some mags would be essencial to keep it with.
I feel like this would be completely useless in a home defense situation as since most rooms are tight fit or the bed is close to the door and it would also blind the people using the gun and also in the beginning he said it was non-lethal but the side effects might include death so why not just use a regular gun
They are called less-than lethal.
@@CarlSWlike I already said it can cause death . Death=Lethal plus what if the burglar uses a mask which covers up their nose or glasses which cover up their eyes which would just create a sheet of pepper spray in your room
@@CarlSW less than effective. Tasers only have about a 50% success rate.
I would never trust my life with a max range of 15 ft and a effectiveness of
"what about internet hosts?" "that's implied" I died 😂😂😂😂
"Where are we supposed to shoot then? these rounds are meant to be shot at the ceiling above the enemy, if you shoot someone in the chest you wont get the full blinding effect because all the substance is on their shirt not in their eyes, shoot at the ceiling and pepper spray rains down on their face and will definitely get in their eyes
Saw a ton of comments like "Just buy a real gun and kill somebody"
Just because you ruined your puberty playing CoD doesn't mean killing another human gets easier.
People that think that way are too stupid to reason with, I'm sorry to say. Believe me, I've tried.
Reading statistics is hard innit
I don’t think it’s about taking a human life but rather why would I use this over a firearm if you’re confused why I wouldn’t buy it look at my comment
Snow wolf: Spoken like someone who has never had to point a loaded weapon at someone
Easier...no, necessary, perhaps.
this is a paintball gun the tippman tipx
Yeah, it says so in the instructions. It's the ammo that's special.
The Modern Rogue i know its just that the company doesn't really acknowledge it
oh, no: they totally acknowledge it. Again: it was pretty much the first thing they said in the instruction book. They seem pretty straight-up about the whole thing.
The Modern Rogue Okay it just seems weird that they are charging 100 dollars more for the same gun
I'm sure that's to cover the massively increased liability of supporting it's intended use. Tippman won't support the weapon being used this way at all, and if something breaks or goes wrong, they'll just tell you "our guns aren't for that."
Personally, I think it's worth the extra $100 to get the support rather than cobble together your own solution, but I wouldn't blame you for doing it on the cheap.
Technically it's semi-automatic.
Isn't that what we said? It's even in the title.
Brian says Automatic anytime he refers to it. Great vid none the less!
its at time code 10:28
+The Modern Rogue
Kept saying fully automatic.
at my great uncles house I found slingshot rounds that were glass and contained ammonia. these were like from the 50's r something. getting hit by a glass ball full of ammonia should rank as a really bad projectile to get hit with also. I don't know if they still make them.
I just had an evil idea: if you had the ability to; fill some pellets with "Doo Drops" or "Military Grade Putricant"
ew.
320 fps? yep thats one of the weakest paintball guns you can get
Yolo Joe weak paintball gun and a mid air soft gun
LDM // yea
Yolo Joe 280fps is the highest fps you can go at most fields. Airsoft is completely different
280 for pistols
350 for AEGs
400 for sniper rifles
REKT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yolo Joe Did you just google that? because it isn't true.
Fun fact. Generally when in a defence situation, when someone shoots another person, they unload the entire mag.
If you want one of these just buy a Tippman TiPX same exact gun just rebranded and you save your self 150+ dollars.
@@SuckerFreeGear It's associate marketing, they just want to generate money from the product link. This is like a fancy advertisement.
@@ben-ym4cc
There is no such link.
@@Seth9809 "That said, if you want to check out this particular brand they can be found at www.saltsupply.com/" pulled from the description.

I wasn't sold on this channel until just now, Well done lads! now I have to go back and watch EVERYTHING you've posted here again!
Enjoy!
this at close range is REALLY DANGEROUS!!! i can imagine you shooting at an intruder and then becoming incapacitated as you get pepper spray in your eyes.
Nah. Give it a try before you make that up.
I'm saying "I tried it in person, and I'm not worried about that." You on the other hand, are making up a scenario and declaring it as fact.
How about this, instead?
**hugs**
that's right. A hug.
A lot of these comments are negative, but guns scare the hell out of me and aren't legal where I live so having this as an option puts me at ease. Thank you guys for demoing it!
LOL massive markup on old tippmann paintball pistol, just by the pistol used from a PB player, and get pepper balls online
congratulations. You saved less than 100 dollars.
Only if you're too stupid to know how to shop .... lol

For two guys from Texas they sure are afraid of a paintball gun
They're from Austin it's like California, mostly liberals
@@earthwormjim6912 Ah, this explains it. Also explains why they haven't made a home made flame thrower episode yet.
This is over priced and any paintball gun or rifle can shoot pepper balls.
Shop around on Amazon and you will find all different calibers of pepper
balls for paint ball guns as well as non-lethal rubber rounds.
This is cool but I will continue to own a real gun, as it is 100 percent sure to help keep intruders out

320 fps is slow...
Thats the point. So it would not be lethal to the other end of the barrel
BIGBOSS9545 but why not make it 500-600 fps?
Spyglass These are not like airsoft guns. They're shooting bigger projectiles. If they do shoot that fast, there is a chance it could fail as a less than lethal gun and just be another gun. It could collapse lungs or even cause internal organ damage. Even trazer projectiles move at a low speed
BIGBOSS9545 Ok, valid points, and correct. However I would not trust something like that with taking down athreat, no matter how big or small.
SEMI automatic. You must pull the trigger for every round fired. An automatic continuously fires as long as the trigger is depressed.
No, this is actually is referring to the loading system of it. It is still technically fully automatic, but a slightly less confusing term could be auto loading.
@@beautifulmeeses nope it's a semi automatic. There is no automatic part of it. It is 100% semi automatic
@@ryderhouser2944 incorrect, the automatic part of automatic pistol refers to how a round is loaded automatically, rather than those old revolvers that require the hammer to be cocked back every shot

Want to give a home invader a runny nose, trust your life to this airgun..
I like how he says military grade. Military orders from the lowest bidder, which generally sacrifices quality.
Not really. Military reliability tests are quiet stringent and many weapons wouldn't pass them to that end military grade means "just the tip" its just enough to get the job done but it's almost always a disappointment.
You know, I'm kind of averse to pain myself, but... comon..

Since I would never have a traditional firearm in my home, this is something I actually find intriguing.
Needs to be a lil smaller but I like it I don’t wanna kill only harm to protect my family.
What if he has a gun and blindly fires in the house, that could be more dangerous
Get a shotgun with beanbag rounds wayyyyy more effective, and you won't end up with pepperspray everywhere
I swear being in the Army takes all the meaning out of Military grade things XD
I could see carrying this in a car for protection, but not a good home defense at all.
I'm not going you search though the whole thread but would like to correct you ... it's a semi auto not a auto
Take it up with Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_pistol
then why does the title say semi-auto.
I **think** this is why we call it a 9MM automatic?
good to know!
When people say a firearm is automatic, they can mean automatic loading (semiauto) or fully automatic fire (a machine gun)
They guys at whatareyoubuyen did a test to see if the guy could still fight after they got hit. they used a form baton. long story short the gun sucked.
I am genuinely interested in Brian's shirt
Maybe something like this *can be used to stop school shootings?*
Like the teaches have one (or more?) gun safe somewhere (office?
If a real powerful paintball gun was used it could bring a school shooting to and end
No.
If someone is using lethal means, you respond with the same.
