Taylor sobre "The lucky one": "Ésta es una canción que escribí cuando estaba en Australia, y habla sobre uno de mis mayores temores a las cosas que gente que me ha inspirado me ha dicho. Pero, incluso más que de eso, habla de a lo que más miedo le tengo, que es terminar atrapada en un mundo en el que te sientas sola e incomprendida, y pienso que cuando todos creen que tienes suerte, en realidad no la tienes. Así que, en efecto, expresa uno de mis grandes miedos: que todo esto deje de ser divertido para acabar siendo horrible. Porque hay gente a la que realmente les pasa eso. Rose Garden: Es un histórico jardín hundido de 7 acres ubicado en Exposition Park en Los Ángeles, California.
Madison Square: es un pabellón deportivo multiusos situado en el distrito de Manhattan, en Nueva York. Se encuentra en el cruce entre las avenidas Séptima y Octava de las calles 31 a 33, y encima de la Estación Pensylvania. Fue inaugurado el 11 de febrero de 1968
No se si Taylor se referia a un jardin de rosas o a Rose Garden (porque menciona Los Angeles en la cancion) pero me parecio divertido usar los lugares para dar a entender que prefirio una vida tranquila sobre una vida publica
