This is the BEST album!!! I remember hearing this recording on radio station WCRF in Cleveland Ohio MANY years ago in the 70's. Its was a GREAT album then, its still a GREAT album now
wow thanks for finding this! Bill was my teacher 1975-6 at Eastman, and I have to say that everything I did jazzwise I owe to him. Great charts, of course. Great band!🎹
Glad you dug it! I played a few of his charts in college and always enjoyed his style of writing. Very soulful. I found this LP at a record store in Kent Ohio.
@@ziqizhu7364 I was almost his 1st student! He was just 5 years older than me at Eastman, and in his first year there, and he was like my big brother. I'm an avid fan, and he had so many stories!

Great upload. Can't believe some of this wasn't blagged for a soundtrack. Very Schifrin.
I'm a simple man: I see "Ohio" or "Jazz" in the title, I click.
You listen to Jazz! Maybe i am stupid but i think simple men don´t listen to such a high level of music.
@@baldurmoizisch6905 Maybe you're right, fellow jazz explorer! Maybe you're right.

It's Lalo Schifrin meets Don Ellis. Listened to it twice now. Thank you!

Where could we find some of your work? I'm curious.
I am his last student at Eastman before he retires. I miss him dearly!

Ohio jazz 🔥🎷💀
Hard-hitting
Solid performances.
Incredible listen, thanks!
Nice album. The opening bassline is reminiscent of "Bonita" by Horace Silver, and maybe something else that I can't quite place
Other worldly.
Ooooohhhh, got my body moving a certain kind of way, yeaaahhhhhhhh
Oh yass !!
Maravilhoso !
as an ohio jazz myself i had to click
is there any specific name for the kind of jazz played in this album?
I think you could lavel it as cool jazz, but sometimes these genres overlap. I can hear some acid vibe to it and some bebop.
That's Ohio jazz, Sir.
