For the longest time I didn’t realize the original art for Show and Tell actually has "Show and Tell" written in English on the chalkboard in the background. I only noticed it for the first time when I saw the artist selling playmats of it at a convention.
That part about Davriel reminds me of when the Garda Síochána of Northern Ireland launched an investigation into someone who allegedly had over 50 traffic violations, each and every one suspiciously associated with a different address. The only problem is that the name of this alleged road menace, "Prawo Jazdy", was actually just the Polish phrase for "driver's license". Whoops!
I agree, its the little details that help make the worlds feel alive. And while the original planes could inform how some if its inhabitants may should with there implied accents, I would like a written example of what they sound like even if it make there text near unreadable.
Fuck yeah Children of the Nameless! Menacing Innistradi with a scone recipe is one of the (many) fantastic things Dave does in that book that easily make him one of the funnest characters in Magic. As for the discussion on script- it's always fun to see how they show the influence of a world's inspiration in it. Kamigawan looks very much like the Japanese scripts you'd see in real life, so it helps evoke the nature of the plane even if they aren't translatable. The ones for Ravnica we see on Inside Source are, as one would expect, vaguely Slavic, like Ravnica kinda is.
@@LightArcanine59 I have heard of a player who ran 4 Soldiers of Fortune in a burn deck, not for synergy or anything but specifically for psychological warfare.
They mention that Teysa Karlov was the only one people who learnt the phyrexian language by using ghosts of compleated ravnicans and I wonder if that was a reference to the entirety community led effort to translate phyrexian. There's a Rystic Studies video about the community deciphering the language that's pretty interesting. PS The reason she was killed was she used this knowledge to talk to phyrexians and would send knowledge she got from that to people fighting phyrexians but all people saw was that she was colluding with phyrexians so she was targeted for assassination for selling out Ravnica.
Music is "Hamlet Memoirs" by Dabu & Simon Swerwer from Dwarf Fortress

If they ever do the Great Multiversal Bake-Off, I want a card named "Davriel's Apocalypse Scones."
Aah yes, the sequel to Death Race.

They'll be delicious but the stomach ache that follows is something else...
A missed opportunity when they made that cookbook

I always thought that the art for ravenous tyrannosaurus looked kind of cursed with its prominent english text.
Nice

Was the Davriel bit in Children of the nameless ? I don't remember it
Davriel only has three story appearances and the other two are fleeting mentions in War of the Spark
Why is this muted?
It is working for me and I've received no notification that it's been muted. Did you hit mute?
