Even the test pilot in ww2 noted this (ignoring the issues with the last cheap glues they used) The plane was a complete dream to fly, and because of its semi unstable nature, made it very good for combat. It was just "over engineered" for its engine. Since the Designers didnt account for the fact it would be under powered. They designed the aircraft as best they could to be light and maneuverable. If you go online you will find that the He 162 A-8 is the same airframe as the A-2 (without the wing tips to make a straight wingtip edge) and with a more modern engine (the ones to be used by the horten 229 ingame), Because of this the He 162 managed to get to speeds of 930kmh+ and had a climb of around 20-30m/s. If warthunder ever add the He 162 a-8 people wont call it a terrible aircraft. As it performs very well and can pull 11g turns when it needs too. I have one of my best kd in this plane. You should never turn unless you know no other enemy planes are nearby and try and keep above 700kph at all times. Flown well no prop can catch you although against jets it struggles
People in the forum claim it's good. I look up their win ratios and they usually sit around 50% or even below. Seriously,. this plane is decent at surviving, but it has barely any chance to win the game, because this thing can't help in the initial merge and with F2Gs above, you can't just climb up and expect to survive, you have to stay fast and this unfortunately means low, and this means the better part of enemy team (that has any brains), will just end up above you, after their 6.3-6.0 planes mop up friendly fighters. Nowadays AF AAA is super deadly and Ju-288 totally breaks the matchmaker.
I actually enjoy playing this plane. I usually slightly side climb to about 2000 - 2500m. I try to watch out for high flying props because they are still dangerous in a dive. I pick low flying tergets and do high speed passes. If you go in a straight line this plane is really fast. You should never flat turn. Instead after your pass zoom climb back to altitude and turn when your speed gets low (I often use stall turns). Important thing is that you do that in a corner of the battlefield where you don't expect anyone sneaking up on you. When you are back in altitude you can side accelerate for a moment and then come back from a different angle. I usually get only 1 or 2 kills but that is with most of my planes. It might be bad for carrying matches but for noobs like me who can't carry anyway it can be an enjoyable plane. Maybe it is my playstyle because I always go for the highest speed and this plane has a lot of it.
Well I don't have He 162 yet since I went the Bf 109 path and got Me 262 a1-a. But right now from what I can see and from my Me 262 experience the He 162 seems more consistent and more fun...
