- Bangkok, Thailand is famous for some of the most beautiful temples in SE Asia, and now you will see how you can visit the 3 main temples in Bangkok on the same day: Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and Wat Phra Kaew inside the Grand Palace (detailed in the previous video: • The Grand Palace: the ... ). They're all Buddhist temples. Wat Pho is famous for the largest reclining Buddha statue in the world, and Wat Arun (also known as Temple of Dawn) is a very picturesque temple by the Chao Phraya river, especially beautiful at dawn and sunset.
All 3 places are close to each other. It's a short walk between the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, and from Wat Pho, you can catch a quick ferry boat to Wat Arun. They're across from each other, so you just need to cross the Chao Praya river. This video starts as we leave the Grand Palace and start walking towards Wat Pho.

Wat Arun was a temple within the palace during the Thonburi Dynasty, which was a dynasty prior to the present dynasty, the Chakkri Dynasty. The Emerald Bhudda used to be at this temple. Thonburi Dynasty lasted for about only fifteen years, so there was not much time for Thonburi Palace as well as Wat Arun to be expanded and thus they remained quite small comparing to the present palace and Wat Phrakaew locating on the opposite side of the river.

Beside the porcelain we brought back from China, the big Chinese warrior stone statues were used as dead load to balance the trade ships since the goods were too light.

My suggestion is you can add one more temple in the list. Wat sa ket or the golden mount which is a man made hill with just 300 steps and you will find yourself excellent views and fresh air of bangkok in the morning before going to royal palace and wat pra kaew. It is located in walking distance around 1.5 km. to the royal palace.
