Why raw milk is banned in the US - BBC REEL

  • There is a new appetite in the food and wine industry for unpasteurised milk products, also known as raw milk. Foodies and restaurant diners are often wowed by the complex flavours of raw milk products, but are they safe to eat and drink?
    In response to the raw milk movement, retail sales of raw milk are banned in about 20 US states. Some people say that pasteurisation kills off important nutrients, but scientists don’t believe that anything lost during pasteurisation is important for human health. We uncover the truth about raw milk.

    I live in Ukraine and believe it or not, most rural people do not even know the word 'pasteurization'. Raw milk is popular throughout the whole country. My grandmother had a cow and I personally was raised on raw milk.
    That said, this knowledge and experience tells me that raw milk can be absolutely healthy if certain conditions are met:
    1. The cow is clean;
    2. It has no health issues;
    3. Its teats are disinfected;
    4. The same goes for the container in which milk is gathered;
    5. The gatherer should wear gloves in the working process.
    Otherwise, raw milk can cause significant health issues, which I personally experienced a couple of times, buying and consuming raw milk from random people.

      Yes, we know, there are always reports of people drinking pasteurized milk and having poor health compared to the ones that drink it raw, even if raw is 9 times more dangerous than eating pasteurized, we are only talking about a 0,00106% chance of becoming hospitalized from drinking raw milk, a 1 in 6 million chances, which is ridicuously low, yet disinformators media want to portrait raw milk as bad for everyone and that it's very dangerous, they obviously have a salary and are been payed out to lie and promote a narrative about the dangerous raw milk is completely safe as long as minimal health hygienic conditions are met, it was also used in medicine in the past, it's got healthy bacteria and saturated fat, after seeying all the propaganda demonizing raw milk, I think goverments all across the world just want us sick and dying, it's a very sad reality we live in, the very same people that supposedly cares for our public health does everything to lie and damage the health of it's own citizens, it's mind boggling, I just ignore everything goverments say, no one should trust them at all at this point, specially not with their health.

      Very well said. I only discovered raw milk recently. In other words I discovered all the terrible things they were doing to normal cows milk before it arrived on my supermarket shelf.
      In my opinion no one is truly lactose intolerant.
      A person is intolerant to the things that are done to milk before it gets to them, which then causes them to become intolerant to the milk.
      Many people become plant based not realising that the actual food isn't the problem, its what is being done to or added to the food that causes their health problems. Gmo, antibiotics etc
      Before milk hits the supermarket shelves it is homegised and boiled (pasteurised) stripping it of pretty much all its nutrients such as vitamins and enzymes particularly A2 proteins which are extremely important.
      Today I brought some organic unhomegised milk to start my journey to raw milk. I really wanted to buy raw milk but there isn't any where I live and this is as close to decent quality milk I can get.

    I believe studies indicated that it depends on the health of the cow. They need to be grass fed specifically as cellulose being part of their diet is very beneficial for them.
    Omega 3 fatty acids and much more are present in grassfed milk.
    The reason most developed issues back then was due to poor gut health and hygiene early Europe and America had in the 1900s and late 1800s.

Cows were brought in to the towns, they were kept in bad conditions, fed waste from the brewerys instead of grass, there was poor sanitation, and yes people contracted TB. I bought raw milk yesterday in Shropshire, UK. It’s great chatting to the farmer as they are so passionate about it. The Queen & Queen mother both lived on raw milk. Milk has to be consumed raw and it is best when consumed raw. That is how it is designed by nature. There is no other animal (except humans) which drinks boiled pasterurised milk. But it has to be handled cleanly, which in certain situations is difficult to ascetain specially when buying from someone outside. But safe & clean handling applies to all the food material not just milk. Any food item which is not handled cleanly can contain harmful pathogens causing risk to health.

    Of course the BBC do not want Brits drinking Raw Milk - very misleading and not giving the whole truth about the real state of milk when county folk had to start moving to the city in the 19th century - lots of people living in squalor, lack of sanitation etc so you can imagine how the cows suffered and as a result their milk was crap! Hence pastuerisation was very important in such conditions. Now it's the opposite!
    Look for vids by real farmers (not many UK ones yet?!)

      @@zacarino1827 Hi there, dairy milk is for higher in protein and natural hormones. A calf grows far faster than a human, hence the difference in milk. E.g. dairy contains more than double the protein of human breast milk. Milk is designed to facilitate rapid growth in an baby mammal. The growth properties in dairy milk help stimulate cancer, hence why the countries with high diary consumption have high rate of hormonal cancers like breast and prostrate cancers and conversely the countries with the lowest dairy consumption have the lowest rates.
