It is a magnificent knife, what a pleasure to whittle with such nice blades! Now that stockman, boy that one I really like. I could see me having both in my collection. Not only as eyecandy but very functional as well indeed. You"ve got me drooling again. enjoy your weekend.
Was really excited when I saw the title and thumbnail.. but then I saw that it's a GEC which means I'll never find one in stock. Hopefully some other company will mass produce a good version of these, the clip point/lambsfoot/awl combo makes so much sense for versatility.
Wonderful carving knife!!! Picked up the Tidioute A#29 stock A#291319 pre -production model in carbon steel last Fall with Osage Orange. One of the best punches/awl for wood or leather (hence stockyard) on the market. I have an even better punch but it was on a 1940 Schrade and Walden carpenters knife. Longish sheepsfoot and clip blade. Very comfortable. Light pull.
I was already fixated on this knife for some reason BEFORE I watched your video. Was watching it on eBay. I’m new to GEC knives and am slowly developing a fondness for them. After watching your video and hearing your enthusiasm, I pulled the trigger and bought it. On the secondary market, it’s definitely NOT $150 anymore. Nevertheless, I’m pretty sure I won’t regret the purchase. Thanks for the review.
Just got one of these off the Bay. Anticipating it’s arrival. Like a kid waiting for Christmas morning ! Thank you for the show and tell Paddy. ✝️😀🏌🏻♂️
I am not that bothered by most GECs, they don't stand out enough to be worth me paying out that much for one. But, the two you have just shown are beautiful functional nives that I would love to use. Thanks for showing them mate.
Cheers Chris its only through having the channel I've met people who offer me them at reasonable prices. I can't afford some of the silly secondary rip offs.atb paddy
I love this knife . mine just showed up . mine is Tidoute and in burnt seanna jigged bone . love the clip and sheep's foot . the awl ,punch ,reamer is sweet also .
Great knife Paddy. My only problem with GEC is availability. It's not just that they are expensive, they are very hard to find at a reasonable price, if you can find one for sale, particularly if you have a specific model you are after. It's almost like sprint runs from Spyderco. If you are lucky, you get one at retail price. Secondary market prices are just thievery disguised as a business transaction.
Agreed paddy the #29s a Great and very practical knife,I have the Tidioute version but then 99 percent of my GECs are tidioute's I'm not a Northfield man I only have one out of thirty odd.
GEC does an excellent name with its build quality as well as the names for their knives. For the most part, I don’t care much for red jigged bone - unless it is GEC red jigged bone. It’s a punch! It’s a reamer! It’s an awl!
Great video thanks. Great looking knife and beautiful too. I have gotten lucky and found a GEC Dixie Stockman knife and love it. Also wanted this Stockman Whittler but have not found one yet. Like the big punch reamer awl on the GEC as it looks better than my SAk Alox victorinox reamer punch that works better than the SAK reamer punch awl that are on the back side of the regular SAK's.
Great pattern. Have you got your hands on a #56 two-spear model yet? I love these because they have such great ergos, and bearing in mind all you were saying recently about comfort in hand with multi-bladers, I thought of you. I have the #82 in that Elderberry Jigged too, but the two-bladed version, which rejoices in the fantastic name of Dixie Possum Skinner!
A lovely piece. That clip is classic! I’d call it an awl, by the way. I like the Alox SAK awls. It won’t be in my collection, but only because I don’t buy GECs. The big plus Wittlers have over Stockmans is that the major blade is at one end and the minor blades at the other. Works much better than main on one side and the minors being opposed in the Stockman.

Amazing Knife, they have gone up quite a bit in the secondary. Beautiful knife. Great review. Thank You !
Beautiful knife paddy I could whittler away the hours with that ,I almost expected to see a fishtale backspring like the RR , stunning ✋

A beautiful knife! Typical GEC fit and finish perfection. I like this awl and sheep foot secondaries better than a typical stockman configuration.
Another beautiful GEC, Paddy! These traditional knives are so practical, too.

Availability is a real problem and its taken me years to get a regular group of friends to buy from at affordable prices. Atb paddy

Finally found me a GEC Stockmen Whittler to go with my GEC Dixie Stockmen and love them both.

I do like the look of the long pull on that version better than mine . mine has the nail nick and drawn sweage .
I love it paddy I have that model!!!!! Great piece
The dixie stockman is a fantastic knife for occasional use and I carry it a lot but that Whittler looks awesome.
What about you Paddy, love your channel.
Where do you buy your gecs, I can't find them and I'd love one
Cheers Batesie
That's a lovely thing.my first job title was scrapyard gofer, think that would be a good name for a knife?
An absolutely great name for a work knife.atb paddy 👍
Love your channel pal. Where do you buy GEC knives? Direct from the website?
Its taken years but I've a few people that occasionally sell some of there collection at reasonable prices. Atb paddy
@@paddyspotatopeelers2154 I hadn't seen them before . Thanks pal !
Another gorgeous knife amigo!!
That’s your strawberry taste it Paddy!!!!! Lol hahaha 😝
There great there just not worth secondary prices for user knives. You have to be in the knife mafia to get them at retail.
I can't deny they are hard to get, where there's a will you can find them.i would not pay silly prices. Atb paddy
Why settle for one blade when you can have three?
Paddy! What are you doing to me? 😢
And you mist a t in whittler 😱
Paddy Paddy Paddy! 😔😁
Thank you, changed it now.atb paddy
