- Sky News host Paul Murray says Labor’s budget debt getting to “1.2 trillion dollars” will make Australian’s “toes curl”.
“If the transparent government has got a script about how you don’t answer the questions will also find a way to not tell you how much money they are spending off the budget,” Mr Murray said.
“Which in part is how our debt under this government gets to 1.2 trillion dollars.”

@@tallboy49well if you had first past the post someone could theoretically get in with 15% of the vote so that’s no better. And if you had proportional representation ( probably the most democratic) then the greens would get about 16 seats instead of 4 and the Nats a lot less Would you like that?

How can Treasurer Jim Chalmers brag about being in surplus when Australia has a huge national debt in the trillion dollar region. Victoria alone has a state debt larger than Qld and NSW alone? I don't get it.
Because it was the first budget delivered in surplus in over 10 years. Paul Murray is just talking out of both sides of his mouth on this issue.
Technically this budget is in deficit. The only reason it turned surplus wass the unusual demand from China, it was nothing that Labor has done A fluke. Labor's performance will be the next four years horrible deficits.

I remember a labor minister asking John Howard a question, and Howard spent several minutes answering it in detail, only there was a “comms fault” that caused the sound to cutout so we couldn’t hear what was said. They conveniently fixed it after he stopped talking.

Albo went on about the first trillion dollar debt. Albo didn’t tell you that after removing pure financial instruments the net debt is a little over half of that. Then when you analyse the contribution over the last 50 years by both labor and liberal governments, despite the liberal cost of a once in a 100 year pandemic, the ALP is more to blame for the debt.

I always said, if their goal was the health and welfare of the people (like it says on the tin) then they would have just banned the sale of tobacco products altogether. That question of what is off budget is one that has been puzzling me for some time. If it is to be government spending it should be in the budget for all to see. If spending is off budget then there is no budget surplus at all and this government is being fiscally deceptive and fiscally dishonest with the voters and taxpayers.

Paul Murray we as a nation have got to get over the sport metaphors in regards to politics. It should not be one team against the other team. This actually does more damage to Australia than anything else. The same as the politicians this following of the party line I'd crap. Freedom of speach should be open and honest. To achieve the best outcome for Australia is to get past this bs. The fact that you have minsters in multiple positions, how can they be more than average in each position. I think we have to start putting people into positions that they are qualified for. Not just because they are good for the party. The system that is in place has failed the Australian people for more than 40 years now. There has been very little achievements over the past 40 years that did not either increase the size of the government or take the rights away from Australians. I think the reason behind this is to keep the Australian people to busy to understand the way they are voting or what the outcome of there vote will mean. I would also like to understand why the unions telling there members to vote Labor if they want to work, is not election interference and has not been called out in a big way yet.
