The previous year model did not come with a dropper post but that would have been an issue for me given a 150mm on a small would have made a fit issue(drop it to 125mm at least) and the higher end versions of the Rift Zone make a few questionable spec choices. So I went with the 2023 Rift Zone 1. Got a PNW adjustable dropper post replaced the X-fusions with Rockshox Pike Forks and Marrzocchi Bomber Suspension and swapped the 2.30 Vee tires for a 2.5 Maxxis DHF on front and a 2.4 Maxxis Rear and SRAM Code R 4 piston brakes in place of the Tektro's then finally swapped the rear wheel and axle from 142 to 148(Marin does this setup with a derailleur you can replace to make this easy, no adapters needed, they ven have a youtube video on it) and now I have something like a one quiver bike with 140/130 travel does just as well in a Bike Park as any trail. It's a good bike to use as a base to build on. Yes it is a good climber and the X-fusion does not lock out.
That was a big drop! Same steep seat tube as the Alpine trail, good, the value for money on the base model is really nice. Also smooth audio transition from wedding prep room into video.
Great Question, you can find all max axle to crown fork measurements here s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/craft-marinbikes/documents/2020/SUSPENSION-FORK-AXLE-TO-CROWN-MEASUREMENT-GUIDE.pdf

Is the rear shock reliable?
We like to think so. If you were to have any issues your local X-Fusion suspension distributor would be able to help
