I think your favourite orchids are Vandas😊🙏💞You do a great job to look after them. I have only a few orchids, and mainly dendrobiums and cattleya because of the hot summers here. They grow best. I enjoyed watching and your Vandas are so beautiful and make me happy🥰
Hello friend. I am not even sure what my favorite orchids are, as I love them all. 😄. I really try my best to take care of them. It's not always easy though, but I try. This summer was really hot and a lot of persons lost quite a bit of their orchids. We are now approaching the cooler months and so let's hope we can revive our orchids. Thank you for stopping by. Lovely italian cypress. Create an arch with them and trim the excess.

Hello Margaret, don't give up, just keep trying until you find that sweet spot . I had that problem once, but I kept reading and trying various stuff. Mind you I've lost a lot along the way. Now I believe it's worth it. I believe you can get there too.

Hello Patricia, It's so lovely hearing from you. Yes the sun during this summer was doing a lot of damage to the outdoor orchids. We have to be watering them a lot. I am so happy it is cooling down now. I'm glad my garden is still appealing to you. I still have a lot of work to do in it. I'm getting there slowly. I NEED HELP!! It's so hard to find persons to work. One love my friend. 🙏

Hello Rosemarie, it is even a greater pleasure sharing my garden with you. I appreciate you stopping by and sharing you thoughts. Yes I do love to have the native orchids in my garden as they are so easy to care for and they add some Jamaican touch to the garden.

Beautiful vandas!! I can quite understand and relate to your rainfall episodes, as we in SLU are going thru ours as well. My "virgin" garden is sending out keikis at an alarming rate. No blooms yet, but a lot of roots and new plants are sprouting out like crazy: long dry spells, and prolific rains!! (Sahara dust rains.) I can't wait for December - as I suspect I should be blessed with quite a few blooms, especially from orchids I've had since 2020. Like you, ALL my orchids are outdoors, some in shade, some in full sun. My Vanda Miss Joaquim did very well for its1st time bloomers; but my Vanda Mokara Thanida went dormant on me 😪
Hello Elbeem, It's so good to hear from you my SLU friend. The weather just seem to be so erotic, but we have to try and adjust to the different conditions. When your orchids keikis a lot is it is an indication that the plant is not happy. You may need to check the rooting system.
I am hoping that pretty soon you will get the kind of blooms that you desire, I find that I get more blooms during the summer.
It is so great that your V. Miss Joaquim did very well this time. Mine didn't do very well at all. I need to cut it back and replant it 😢. So sorry you Mok. Thainida went dormant on you. When you spray doesn't it affect the bromaliad?
Hi Rosemarie, no the spray doesn't affect the bromeliads as a matter of fact, the bromeliads will breed mosquitoes and so it is even more important to let some of that insecticide get into the water that settles in the bromeliads to prevent breeding. Thanks for stopping by and one love. 🥂

Hello Claudia, I would have to get more information on your growing conditions, the fertilizers you use etc. to understand why your Vanda orchids are refusing to bloom. I have realized that this summer they really bloomed a lot for a lot of persons. Do archid trive in open sun light mlne keep burning
Hello Lena, yes orchids can survive in the open sunlight however you will have to gradually acclimate them. I usually place mine out in the full sun during winter season as the sunlight is not as harsh and the days are much shorter. Maybe you could start there.
