The problem with talking about "variance" when you're looking at a 4 week sample size, is that it's a 4 week sample size. Xg, Xgi, Xp... it's a model that runs accurate over a long time. Talking about the comparisons over a week 4 sample is just silly.
I get the point re accuracy over a longer period e.g a season - but some of these short term swings you can actually ‘feel’ - when you compare the match expected stats with real fpl points.. Salah and Haaland being an extreme example in recent times, and that’s without captaincy!
Sorry you feel that way Mark. We try to provide balance on the different ways to play and even I accept that models are now part of the game but in my view not the only way to play.

Kevin Phillips scored 30 goals in the pre-FPL days. It’s not a new thing that poor teams have high scoring strikers
