      the snare, kick and cymbals were from the Battery multitrack. the hi hats are from the intro of Leper Messiah. the toms were from the fills in the slow part of Orion. the snare doesnt really ring out but if you add a reverb it doesnt matter

      @@evanlewis9313 so i downloaded the multitrack from remixpacks.ru . Make sure you download the Rockband version because it separates the snare, kick, and cymbals/room. i sampled from different parts of the song to get different layers of velocities. I recommend using reaper for a recording software. Reaper Mania on youtube shows you how to make a “drum machine” out of samples, and he even has a video about multi-sampling which is what I do to make the drums sound more realistic, and not just the same sample played robotically

    Yooo this sounds too frickin good. Is it possible to get a sample out of every single drum separated?

    • @tanneryordan
      @tanneryordan  3 роки тому +4

      if you have the isolated drum tracks that are separated (cymbals, snare, kick) its much easier. if you dont, you really have to scrub through the song to find hits that aren’t clouded with cymbal wash. luckily, with plugin reverbs, the samples don’t have to be very long. its really helpful when the album has a track with a little bit of hi hat/cymbal by itself because those are some of the hardest things to replicate with other samples/ez-drummer type plugins

      If you find a source of the "multitrack" from the Guitarhero/Rockband games you will be able to sample the drums easier. I can't seem to find them anymore, so if you can't find them, use the isolated drum tracks on UA-cam.

      @@nekropsyyyyyy I used to get them all from one website that has been taken down. It had almost every "multitrack" ripped from those games. Those games are the only reason we have access to pretty much any isolated track, aside from the recent ones done with AI. Regardless, it still takes a bit of work to mix them once you have them loaded in (reverb, EQ, educated midi programming, etc.)

      download the multitracks from remixpacks.ru The final countdown has the snare-kick-cymbals tracks separated but i can hear a lot of bleed between them. It will be much harder to just cut the individual hits out of it like I do with other bands that isolate their mic's better

      @@aoutii use the built in “reasamplomatic5000” plugin. watch the channel “reaper mania” for extensive tutorials. some videos that helped me were l”creating a drum machine in reaper” “multi sampling in reaper” and “multi velocity based sampling in reaper”
      in reasamplomatic5000 you import samples into the plugin and it allows you to set it to a note. with multi sampling/multi-velocity sampling you will be able to get much more accurate sounding midi since nobody ever hits the drum the exact same way twice. i would recommend using a seperate track for snare, kick, cymbals/hit hat, toms, etc. because they are usually mixed differently. that’s just something you’ll have to do research on to see how they originally did it, if you can’t just tell by hearing it.
      hope this helps

      the website i used to use to get multitracks isnt up anymore. i honestly dont even know where to get them anymore. but ill tell you my process if you find a multitrack that includes 3-4 tracks for drums (kick, snare, hi hat/overheads, toms)
      i download the multitracks and open them up in my daw. zooming into each track i find hits of each drum that are clean and preferably “long” (clean meaning without other drums bleeding into them). this usually works for kick and snare pretty well, and if there is a Tom track. for hi hats, you dont always need an isolated hi hat/overhead mic track. for this video, i used the 4 hi hats leading into “Leper Messiah”.
      i use Reaper for my daw because it’s just what i learned on. there’s an awesome channel “Reaper Mania” that has a ton of drum sampling/multisampling tutorials. i wouldnt know how to teach this to anyone that doesnt have Reaper

    • @tanneryordan
      @tanneryordan  Рік тому

      once I gather the samples i use Reaper’s sampler to upload each sound to set them to a midi note, adjust velocity settings, etc. Reaper mania has videos on that process. Then I just open the piano roll for the midi programming and program away on whatever track I want to create

      @@tanneryordan thanks for the response. i’ve got all the multitracks for every metallica song that has them.
      whenever i try sampling toms or a kick, they always get cutoff and i don’t know what reverb to put on them to make it sound like a regular hit. in terms of leper messiah, there’s no multitrack for that one, so i don’t know how you separated the hi hat from lars speaking.
      i’ve got a basic drum set up for battery’s main riff, just without toms and cymbals. do you have any cymbal samples for metallica, or do you just find random ones that fit?

    • @tanneryordan
      @tanneryordan  Рік тому

      @@Samford_ to get rid of Lars' count in I think I just put a little high pass filter on them until it was too quiet to hear. For cymbals I took a bit where he hit the kick and cymbal and high pass filtered that also. You'll still hear a little bit of low end but most of the time you are putting a cymbal over a snare or kick for metallica stuff anyway so it blends in.
      As for reverbs, I use epicverb, omniverb, and various other free reverbs depending on the sound i'm recreating. I forgot to mention that I fade out all of my samples slightly at the end to sound smoother. This also "gets rid" of the reverb tail so you can re-add it with plugin reverb
