  • ooof tough day out there on the course last week. Just wanted to take some time to thank everyone who has reached out with the nice words and comments. Had a lot of time to reflect and feeling ready to hit this next marathon coming up. Last week I traveled to NYC and raced at Rockland State Park at the Mckirdy Micro Marathon. It was such a well put on marathon with perfect conditions.
    NEXT STOP CIM. I will be returning to where I ran my very first marathon. The focus is going to be on executing the marathon as best as I can!

    It always stinks to not race well but it seems like you have a good attitude about it. I definitely have found lately that overtraining is much easier than I thought. Making sure you feel fresh as often as possible has helped me a lot lately. I’m in my first marathon build but I split a 10k PR in a 10 miler in my first race of the build (32:41->32:30 and ran 53:05) while working an engineering job 40 hours a week. I’m not training nearly as hard as I did in college the last few years but I’m in way better shape. Sometimes taking a step back to absorb training can make a big difference.

    I had one of the worst races that I've ever ran today. Went from an 18:44 this season to a 19:52 my body just couldn't do it and I ended up running 2nd to last at my final race at regionals. We all have bad races and it extremely important to not let that shit bring you down if you keep running and keep training your body will do things that you could have never thought possible. STICK WITH IT BOYS NEVER GIVE IN💪

    Hey Adam,
    I’m so sorry that the race didn’t work out man. That’s so tough to have so many months of prep for it.
    But I wish you the best and know you’re going to kill it and get after it on the next one. Just want to say thank you for sharing this content, as someone that never really did any distance running before watching your content has been an inspiration to get into it!

    Adam, your videos have changed my racing mentality. I had a collegiate cross country race today, and it was so hard. But I remembered everything you’ve said; everything you’ve said about how amazing it is to be a runner. For the first time in my life while racing, I smiled. I smiled and surged as fast as I could. I didn’t PR, but I kept up with the group I wanted to stay with. Thanks so much for every video and advice you send. You made running fun for me again. I can’t wait to start training for marathons once I finish my collegiate running career.

    Great attitude! The motivation to keep showing up is so hard to find when you're not getting results you want and know you're capable of. The work ethic is there to keep applying yourself, figuring out that balance seems like it might be the key.

    I know the feeling I’ve dropped out and heck we had state xc today and our champion runner who was supposed to win and be a four time state champ collapsed twice and thanks to the runner who helped her up and yes she finished in 16 one away from placing it was heartbreaking and it caused our team third instead of first seeing her disappointed was one of the hardest things. The race today was hot and hilly five people dropped out, SEVERAL collapsed, and many passed out at the end, props to all you runners your the Strongest even if you didn’t finish, running has made you a better you!!❤

  • @Ouga_Official
    @Ouga_Official 8 місяців тому +2

    Just had a week of no training after a perfect discipline for three months then my first training back today was a horrific one week out of my goal race. And my goal race is now a hilly trail because I had to drop of my flat road race due to travel… I will not PB… I am not even sure I will finish and for a minute I was tempted to tell people that I didn’t even go to the race to avoid the embarrassment. But I will go, do my best, lick my wounds, and start a new block for a proper road race.

    One bit of feedback on your videos, the sound levels are quite different from sequence to sequence. Some of that is your edit, some of it is the recording. For the edits, did your normalize your voice levels across sequences? For the mic recording: I do really like your gestures when talking to the camera. Maybe fix the lavalier, and hold a pen instead?

That could have created the domino effect for you. You’re an inspiration, you should always focus on each race with an “A,” “B,” & “C” goal (usually C being just finish the race). Bro I really hope you’re gonna make it, but to be honest I think you might be putting too much pressure on yourself. I could be totally wrong but I know when I have chases times before I always over think it or just feel off on my races. It’s when I just let go I felt like I raced better and just focused on doing my absolute best (I will never be as fast as you, nor have I ever been but I have been in the situation of putting too much pressure on myself for a certain result). Just my 2 cents homie and I hope you achieve your Olympic Qualification Time.

      You work so hard and are so very inspiring. You’ll earn that qualifying spot for sure at CIM. I abandoned my race last year at mile 15.5 (Ventura Marathon). We sat in the cold too long and I couldn’t get warm (it had snowed the night before). Six miles in felt like 20. This was my second DNF. The other was from altitude sickness. Dropping definitely gets in your head. I’ve been trying to qualify for Boston and am SO close!! My next marathon is in 5 weeks. Don’t want a repeat. We’ve got this💪💪

    You're on an entirely different level than I am, but for what it's worth, it sounds to me like the issue is actually psychological. You said you've dropped out of marathons twice recently. You've also noted many times in your videos that you have issues with confidence. Your body, having done millage upwards of 100 where a high percentage of said miles were at or near race pace, was prepared for the race. Your body probably could have done it. Your mind couldn't. I suspect the issue's between your ears and relates to confidence. Mark Allen, a triathlon legend, used to struggle with similar issues. He always lost to Dave Scott until he eventually overcame them. Then he beat Dave and set a world record. Just my thoughts.

    • @ambiguousheadline8263
      @ambiguousheadline8263 8 місяців тому +11

      It's worth noting that when things aren't physically going your way and your mindset is "Run X:XX or bust" your mind will immediately think "well shit guess this is a bust" once the pain starts to set in and you still got a long way to the finish. It takes a hell of a lot of psychological training to snap out of that mindset once it begins during a race and get back on track to salvage what you can. The pros are really good at making their shit days still decently close to their amazing days, unless something crazy happens to them. Even if this isn't what necessarily happened with Adam, it's still important to say
