+andrew7taylor feel the same way. I could easily got get high again but I choose not to today. don't know if I could live through it. I have too much to live for.
This is ok. But I think the best version in all five seasons was the first one, The Blind Boys from Alabama. Domaje is second, although the cover live on stage is better than the one used in the wire. It's pretty hard to work with, being the same chord most of the time, lol.
dude this is so much better than the crappy version they used for the show. those cheap synths and drum machines are just gross. this is more organic and actually not a bad cover at all. now i gotta stop hating walon for ruining the theme. they shoulda did this in the studio instead!
lol the audience totally fucked this up. they said the "in the hole" at all the wrong times (during the verses), and then didn't during the chorus when they were supposed to (like he demonstrated beforehand). only got the outro correct.
Safe to skip the guitar tuning the first three minutes. Not exactly a Dead show. Not exactly Jerry Garcia giving tuning commentary. If you want to watch him sip coffee and bs, watch otherwise must starts at three minutes. I will stick with the Waitts version. This was not that great.
When I first saw him in The Wire I was like 'how the fuck did this guy pass the audition? he can't act for shit'. Then I looked up the song as I wanted to learn to play/sing the season 5 version, and it's him.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! - Clay Davis, The Wire
Just watching the Wire now.. brilliant series
The one Guy I love covers the other guy I love!
Song starts at 3:35. Thanks for posting!
I was about to comment on how painful it was up 'til then...but it was all so very painful (".)

Correction! "Words and music by Steve Earle" Should Be "Words and music by Tom Waits. Arrangement & Performance by Steve Earle"

THAT'S WALON FROM THE WIRE!
Yeah, dawg. And I didn't know he had arranged the fifth season version until today, thanks to the Way Down in the Hole podcast.
He also sang the song during the ending montage for s2
Shit is hard
People should UA-cam Casper Allens version of this song. You wont be disappointed. Oh, and of course Toms version is awesome too.

Temporada 5 The Wire
it's Okay, especially with the audience participation... but there is only one Tom Waits!
Insperation...

sometimes I think SE should stick to his own stuff
🤔🤔🤔🙉🙊🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
Very casual setting and lousy recording. It is what it is. Blind Boys #1.
Not good.
Worst version of them all.. No soul, no feel in his voice.
+fraud1980 Amazing version, you're stupid.
this is the only version that stuck in my head...
His or Waits are the best versions
