I have a black lacquered one. I gut out the bridge pup and put in a Gotoh humbucker. Rosewood fingerboard, scalloped. It's in pieces right now 'cos the whammy bar wore through and literally broke off. I have a new one, but haven't installed it yet because it'll need some extra routing. A big difference is that mine came with locking tuners and locking whammy bar (the one that broke). I think it's a 1982 model, so that might be why the differences in coating and hardware. One thing I remember from it - under distortion, it is super smooth sounding. Can't wait to (eventually) bite the bullet and get the bar replacement finished haha.
Wow - that's made my day! - I have exactly the same model and they are rare enough in Tobacco Burst (the only other option on this specific model) let along Natural which this one and mine are. I bought mine many years ago and this is the first time I have ever seen another in Natural finish. OK, so these are not actually the Bobcat but simply the RS Standard which I think may have only been made in 84 as other models were far more popular - these were the bottom of the line and the only model in the series with: 3 single coils like a Strat, Strat style knobs for tone and volume, and just "Made in Japan" on the plate. There were many others in the series (Bobcats, Wildcats, Stray Cats, The Cat- which I once owned one of, and others like Warriors, Inazumas, and too many to think of) which had more technical bridges (Floyd style) and electronics/switching and often humbuckers. Mine has a body made from 4 pieces and as you say no effort to hide the fact. Mine has a huge amount of natural relicing to the fingerboard and neck (from my playing) and to the body (from my clumsiness) and looks all the cooler for it. The changes I have made (apart from re-fret, replaced worn saddles, better string tree etc) were to stick a very powerful DiMarzio humbucker in the bridge position with appropriate pot (250k maybe?) and a 5 way switch as for whatever reason these only came with three. I've never had a trem arm in it and it stays in tune well. The guitar is awesome in my opinion - such a smooth and sweet neck, in neck and middle position through a Fender amp it couldn't be told apart from a very good Strat, though I mainly use the humbucker i put in it and dirt through amps for my music. For the past 7 years it has been my main gigging guitar whilst others worth much more stay in their cases much of the time. These things rock and are great value!!
I have this exact guitar. My parents had it displayed in their loungeroom for years and they have just given it to me to restore... I loved playing it when I was a teen
Nice sound. Nice playing. Aria often made guitars that had no entry in any catalogue. They did go pretty wild with their catalogues, so people think that their guitar should be included somewhere (logical). They were a pretty high-production facility there at Matsumoku, and there was a lot of undocumented stuff that came out. There are sites out there that have records of their catalogues (pretty sure you've seen these). You can always put a photo up at the Matsumoku forum and ask nicely - someone might now. I'm pretty sure I've seen similar finishes from them. I subbed you coz I like your playing.
heya timrednavnaj, yup correct i bought it there, pretty nice guitar!. Saw another one for sale but that one wasnt complete, missed one of the single coils and the backplate was replaced.
I had the same exact guitar .....bought brand new in 1984 ripped off from my car in Philly along with my peavey backstage plus in 87 loved that guitar .....wish i could find another one like it .....
nice tone great guitar yesterday i just brought a aria pro 2 wild cat very much like yours i not seen one like mine but it all looks oringal to me with its oringal case it has a push pull which i need to get working and could do with a set up but plays amazing as it is i at to buy it
i bought me the same blond one today, sounds and play's very very well. But i couldnt find anything bout these blond ones anywhere. This is the very first one i see ( besides the one i own ofc ). Dont think i'll let this one go.
Hoi Krijn, must be the one on Marktplaats which you bought? Exactly the same as mine, but then in a better condition. I also couldn't find anything about these blonde ones.
I had this exact guitar in 1984 ......got stolen out of my car in philly in 1986 .....had a great surfy tone .....never saw one since til now .......thats my guitar fucker! 😂🤣😉
hahah! I own two real Fenders: a natural Stratocaster 1974 and a black Telecaster Custom 1974 (the one with the humbucker neck-pickup). First one is NOS, I keep it in its case, as an investment (I should be ashamed, of course, to treat it only as trade) the tele is used every now and then. Uh....bridge PU is too harsh. Most used electric guitars in my collection: Aria Pro II ES500, a Greco Stratocaster copy and a Korean Squier telecaster copy, 1989 (by Samick). So, indeed, who needs Fender?
@@timsrednavnaj Just kidding, i love the guitars Fender and Gibson made i just hate the ridiculous mark up in the last 30 years or so. I have also heard about many quality issues even with $2000 + guitars. I just bought a 1983 aria pro2 rs deluxe v in fab shape for under $400, i got one in the 90's , as you know they made some great guitars

Thank you for response. I like the guitar a lot. The only con is the three way switch.

Awesome! I’ve got one exactly the same. Yours is the 1st one I’ve seen with just “made in Japan” on the back plate (same as mine).
Me too! I always wondered if the backplate on mine was not original.
Nice sound. Nice playing.

would you sell it? I'm looking to buy this guitar, since my friend used to play one in the early 90's and I want to give it to him as a present
Yeah, I have on, cost me $100 Back in '97...needs a clean and well maybe new pups...? I too cannot find anything on the natural finish models...?
I changed the pickups (there is another video with the Fender pu's). But I think there is no need for it, the original ones sound great on their own.

It's packed away on the attick now. But, not heavy.

About the Aria Pro II ES500, who needs a Gibson ES345 for three grand? ua-cam.com/video/IEKeFwTSQT4/v-deo.html
