- PNG Kumuls, the pride of the Pacific island nation Papua New Guinea (PNG), where rugby league is the National Sports …
Rattled Ireland, beating them 14 points to 6 in front of - once again! - a capacity crowd of over 15,000 crazy, frantic and patriotic crowd in Port Moresby, the capital city of PNG.
Ireland scored first, but "Mr. Unstoppable" Gary Lo (Sheffield Eagles, UK) who's bound for Castleford Tigers (English Super League, UK) …
Sent the rugby league-mad crowds into a deafening frenzy … as he beat seven defenders to score PNG's first try.
Nene McDonalds (St George-Illawarra, NRL) powered over for PNG's second try. And with the game in balance (PNG 8 Ireland 6) and 2 minutes on the game clock …
PNG Kumuls' scrum-half Watson Boas toed through a loose ball, grabbed and sealed the match.
PNG Kumuls win over Ireland comes after the Kumuls demolished Wales 50-6 in Game #1. It was also played in the PNG National Stadium, Port Moresby.
The PNG Kumuls next play the United States (USA) in Game#3 … and are headed to Melbourne, Australia for the quarter finals.
They'll line up against Big Guns, England.
Whatever the results (vs England) in the quarter finals … the PNG Kumuls are legit. They've arrived. And they're here to stay in the top tier of world rugby league.
The PNG Kumuls of 2017 are considered to be the best national team ever assembled to participate in the international fixtures, including the Rugby League World Cup 2017.

I love both teams
Iam a PNGn mountain woman but I love the Irish people for their music n customs by my Irish teacher in my younger years. The rugby league, I must say the Irish players r no softies after watching this game. we love a equally fought match, the Irish were in it too by our standards.👌👌❤️❤️
Irish a absolutely beast, big and strong.
Watson Boas is the X-Factor for the Kumuls in the 2022 World Cup
I was there at this game, the atmosphere there was electrifying and as a Papua New Guinean I have to give credit to the Irish, they held their own for a good majority of the game, landed some heavy contact and stood toe to toe with my beloved Kumuls. If they had scored off the back of that grubber this match would have been closer then anticipated. In the end I think the Irish were their own worst enemy with a lot of silly errors. The Kumuls did what Ireland couldn't and capitalize on those errors. Not our best performance but the passion, the grit and the constant push forward gave the Kumuls the edge we needed to win this one. One hard, scrappy and highly entertaining hellova game of footy. I loved every second of it.
Kumuls simply beat the Irish up pretty hard in the tackles and wore them down. The Papuans were much tougher than the Irish on the day and deserved the win . Its a good brand of football they play. Old school
Both tough breeds of men. The Irish ain’t no softies so credit to PNG 💪
What a game that was
Ireland play Rugby Union in six nations an World Cup but there very good at Rugby League maybe a bit more funding they’ll be a force
Watson Boas's try at the end reminds me of Lockyers try in the 2006 State of Origin of a Hodgson mistake. Good hustle and desperation to pounce on the lost ball to create the opportunity.
coachs face is not happy i think they had to dig abit deeper then a set play practised marum was nervous but relieved😁
Best 4 kumuls
well done gud luck
PNG the only nation in the world where the rugby league is the national sports. Team Kumuls is their pride..
What country are you from?
Look, Rugby League and AFL are both our national sports in Australia. No other sports gets the coverage these 2 get besides cricket
Bullshit. What about cricket?
Wisss inap,giaman blo yu.
Wissss, rugby is not PNG national sport. Tell Australians, that's their national sport. PNG is more to soccer.

Does Tepend have the Respect for Snr Kumuls who have been in the dull days tried their best to put PNG flag high. Of course, James is the role model for all young PNGans. Because hooker skills, everyone knows Segeyaro passes, they wanted to be like Segeyaro.
James is on best form and Tepend need to reconsider James over Tenza. James is an experience player who can control games. Tepend your call now smells fishy and nepotism at its best. Its not too late to reconsider James now.
